They have completely screwed up the streets of Culver City. They redid the roads and various things regarding parking and it is so confusing and awful that we avoid going there anymore.
Born and living in the UK for all my life, watching US TV shows specifically filmed in California, it always seemed glamorous someone living under ‘grey’ skies all their life.. so that was my reason for being interested, but more specifically Southern California not so much LA as that was always represented as ‘troubled’ on TV shows. 😊
I've seen it both ways where TV Shows have shown troubled Los Angeles and the glamorous areas. Los Angeles is funny that way... Some people like parts or Orange County or San Diego as well. You thinking about making a move to California?
It’s a bucket list item, live and work in California even if it’s only for a year, a bit like an age 50 gap year 😂 however job wise I have over 30 years industry experience post grad, so the role couldn’t be a student job, it would need to be in my profession.
I think Beverly Hills is way more overrated than DTLA. DTLA at least has plenty of activities for the average person (like grand central market, little Tokyo, the broad, ect.). Beverly Hills is a plastic soulless shopping mall of a neighborhood. DTLA is not the greatest neighborhood in LA, but it is an area I visit as a local for the variety of attractions it has to offer. It is true that LA is more than it’s downtown and there’s plenty to see beyond it, but I also think DTLA has more to offer than most other neighborhoods in LA.
I appreciate your perspective on this. I do agree that Beverly Hills can be overrated. DT Los Angeles is certainly growing in popularity and attracting more people to the city center; however, there has also been some recent struggles and stagnation with that as well. With Los Angeles being so sprawled out, I think many Los Angelinos don't make DTLA a destination.
I'm moving to LA but I've been doing my research it's very expensive living in LA but I think it's a little cheaper living in the outskirts of LA the valley should I say.
Yes, it is certainly expensive living in Los Angeles. The least expensive areas will be in The San Fernando Valley as you said, as well as part of the Eastern portions of Los Angeles. East of the 710 freeway is also more affordable in Los Angeles.
Awesome! I'm happy you enjoyed the video. What's bringing you to Los Angeles? If I can be of any help, you can reach me at the contact information in the description of the video.
@@livinginlosangelescaliforn353 Girlfriend is from there and she also got a residency at USC. I appreciate that. Just a little nervous picking the right neighborhood to live in.
I'm happy you found the video helpful. What's bringing you to Mar Vista? If I can help with any real estate needs, let me know. I can be reached at the contact information in the video description.
9:18 I couldn’t agree more about holiday weekend beach visits! It’s terrible. I actually live in Beverly Hills and work on 2nd and Wilshire, in Santa Monica. Your videos are spot on! When did you graduate high school? I went to Culver and graduated in 96. Btw, the best time for the beach is on a Tuesday afternoon during January. It’s PERFECT!
I'm happy you are enjoying the Culver City video! Yeah, I find maps always help when moving to such a large city like Los Angeles/surrounding neighborhoods.
I appreciate your input! The San Fernando Valley is certainly the hottest sections of Los Angeles and it is cooler than most areas of Los Angeles in the Winter. Many of my clients have relocated from other parts of the country where it is a lot colder (with snow), so The San Fernando Valley will be a nice change for them. Unfortunately crime, crowding and traffic have increased, but not as bad as other parts of Los Angeles.
Thank you for sharing your experience and watching the videos. Now it's a rough drive to get anywhere outside of The San Fernando Valley. Traffic has become so much worse... Still, with that being said, The Valley offers a lot of amenities for us valley residents!
I was born in East Los Angeles and lived in Sun Valley for about 20 years ended up moving to Las Vegas in 2005 been here since I miss the beaches but not the traffic tho
@@livinginlosangelescaliforn353 my friend don't you ever get in a Las Vegas pool ever it has more bacteria than than a public restroom just Google it unless it's your pool or someone you know then your fine
Prepare yourselves for the invasion of South Afrikaans. They fled with blood money to this particular area. Always treated "our blacks" very well. If you look over there, it's the PORN CAPITOL OF THE WORLD. Live in The Valley, live with the taint. 818 ain't.
I’m thinking of moving to LA area I have West LA in mind for sure I’ve been looking for a while. Thanks so much I have your # I will call you when I’m ready to make that move. Looking for a loft for sure.
Moved to Los Angeles 34 years ago. There is no perfect place and just take the good with the bad and so far the good outweighs the bad for us. House paid off, retired and kids are on their own, so our living expenses are drastically reduced.
I feel like this should've been made for the 2010s. LA, like most major metropolitan areas in the US, is really falling apart with the recent spike in crime and homelessness. Almost half of the businesses in Hollywood, Santa Monica and the valley are closed. And if you just drive through DTLA, it's pretty tragic. DTLA was on the upswing on the 2010s and prior to the "pandemic," but now it just looks like a wasteland.
Don’t live in the city of LA. LA County has a lot of cities that have a better quality of life without the drawbacks of a dysfunctional city bureaucracy. The traffic into LA is totally ridiculous. That’s why you avoid living in the worst congested, crime, homeless, and drug ridden areas. The downtown LA area is totally rundown. Avoid south LA. Avoid Hollywood area. Consider Orange County or Thousand Oaks or more north or east towards Palm Springs or San Bernardino.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. You make some good points. It really is about finding the right neighborhoods in Los Angeles that work best for you and your needs.
I moved here from a small CT town 25 years ago. I was miserable for the 1st 6 months but now you’d have to tie me up and drag me away to get me to leave
It does take some adjustment, especially if you come a small town. But as you said, all of my clients would have to be dragged out of here now that they have enjoyed the lifestyle here
@@livinginlosangelescaliforn353 Affordability. The cost of living in Las Vegas is lower than in LA. Other factors include, no state income tax, no serious homeless problem and more friendly people.
@@Rl082992 there's also homeless issues in Vegas. Every location has its pros and cons. I live in LA and love it. I only go to Vegas for vacation and it's just a 4 hour drive to get there. Best of luck on your choice.
I’m leaving California in December 2024. We have social and fiscal policies that would scare Karl Marx. Yes, we live in a one-party state. California has imploded!
Hello Dear, How are you? I have visited your RU-vid channel.your video-making is very good.. But channel optimization is very poor Because your channel SEO score is very low. your videos don't reach the right audience . So your video views are not affected May I suggest you grow your channel? Thanks, I am waiting for your response.
It all sounds like totally awesome! What a fool I was to move away sixty years ago, I'm sure it's much nicer and less crowded now. Glad to hear somebody likes the place, stay there.
LOL - Your sarcasm doesn't escape me. I do understand Los Angeles is not for everyone. It is certainly crowded. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video.

Thanks for the insightful tips and updates. I've been researching extensively, and your breakdown really helps put things into perspective. One additional gem I'd suggest adding to the list is the Quantum Clinic for a dose of relaxation and rejuvenation. Their floating spa therapy is a game-changer for calming both mind and body amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Keep up the fantastic work, and thanks again for sharing your wisdom.
One, ☝️ of the fifteen, 15 things to know and consider, before moving to L.A. is to accept, and deal, with Very Stuck Up 🆙 Rude Mother Fucker’s !!!!! If you happen to be very sensitive, meaning soft hearted weak minded etc, or don’t know how to reason or deal with people, then L.A. is not for you !!!!! It’s just the way how it is unfortunately !!!
I couldn't agree more! Ive own a condo in PV for 17 years and I HATE Playa Vista! The HOAs and fees have become ridiculous!!! Its becoming ghetto too and yes too much personal space taken from us. Its like a college dorm!

Hi! I’ll be moving to LA for grad school at USC. What are some good neighborhoods to learn about? I hear the area around campus is not that nice. I hear a lot of people say some grad students live in Culver City, Silverlake, Echo Park, and Koreatown. I’m wanting a 1 bedroom apartment in somewhere that is relatively quiet but has a walkable and lively downtown area that is close/easy access to USC and above all is SAFE. Any recommendations?
Congrats on grad school! USC is a great school, but you are correct, many students live away from campus and the surrounding areas. All of the areas you mentioned are great options for what you are looking for. Inglewood and West Adams may be some good options too.
I can, but first would like to know your specific needs. Are you looking to lease a place or do you have property that need help with renting out to a tenant.
