Here now with my wife and child, it feels like a goldilocks city, not too big or small, not too busy or quiet, relatively affordable compared to larger international cities, good transit, caters to people instead of cars, have not been targeted (unsuccessfully) by pickpockets like we experienced in Madrid. Definitely need to start studying Spanish, my wife is fluent.

I started looking into Spain earlier this year. I found Valencia to be the city that offered a lifestyle I would really enjoy. I decided to take a trip there back in March right after Las Fallas festival. It was everything I was hoping for! The city was amazing. The people I met were great and happy. I went in knowing a few phrases of Spanish, the ones that spoke English were very nice about it. A few days in felt like I was home. Compared to NY, going out was a treat because of the lower costs of everything in Spain. It’s hard to not fall in love with the life over there. Now it’s about planning fo relocate. finding a job has been far tougher than I could imagine as finding one to meet my needs that will lead to success is something that will take me time to find the right situation. I was ready to jump right into it but proper planning will get me to where I want to be. After the research/ experience I’ve been exposed to so far, Spain is a great place to relocate

Caveat emptor! Valencia has the largest submerged economy in Spain! People will try to pay part of your salary in cash, so you won't be declaring to hacienda your entire income, which means your pension will suffer! Just look carefully at any contracts you sign, and make sure the hours you work are the hours they declare to hacienda. I hate this. I am now self-employed and I declare all my income and refuse to work for cash-in-hand. It has taken a while, but now all our clients are French or Austrian. The clients from Madrid and Valencia are the most ratas, the ones who always pay late and who are the rudest. If I could relocate to Santander or Vigo, I would. Each region of Spain is different. Valencia is the most dishonest.

My wife and I visited Valencia back in September of 2023. Wasn't expecting to love it, cause we were visiting a friend. But there is so much to see and do, and it is very inexpensive city, truly. There is some downside to living in Valencia, they take their siesta's very seriously in many areas, so while yes it's great that you can relax, you may not be able to get your prescription when you were hoping, however many of these stores will re-open around 5ish to 8. Even though it's the third largest city in Spain, it's something like the 8th busiest place to visit from tourism, so don't expect people to speak English. Also they have a relatively small airport. Now you can fly into bigger cities it's harder to do so, however taking the train to Madrid or Barcelona is only a 2-3 hour train ride.

@@Karl__Pierre Yes they do. Just not to foreigners. You are seeing the best behaviour because you have something Valencianos want, your money. I bet everybody smiles at you alot. Wow, wait until the honeymoon period is over or your business crashes. You will be abandoned quicker than it takes to say "coca y fiesta". All of Spain refers to Valencianos as chulos (pimps, poseurs). Unless you speak fluent Spanish you won't realise you're being ripped off. Lol, Valencia is totally a rip-off comunidad, and sadly I have my business here. Unless you double-check everything, your gestoria will also try to rip you off. Good luck with that. My partner is Spanish from Extremadura and I speak fluent Spanish and I have plenty of experience of double-checking tax returns and getting even more money back because I hassled my accountant to do her damned job. If people want to be in a constant state of tension, then come to Valencia. Even the driving here is without rules. The north of Spain is bliss by comparison, ethics-wise and weather wise. It's too late for us, but this is my CUIDADO! to Americans moving here: you will be FLEECED of your money if you are not careful. Always ALWAYS get three or more quotes for building work. Buy the materials yourself. People here will not hesitate to show you one insulation board and then use another cheap one. I had to stop a job in its tracks because of that shit. Now I am using a builder from AVILA and it is going far better... There is no sliding scale of good work. It's either expensive and shit or really really expensive and OK. So now I just buy everything and our treasure of a builder gets on with it. And I was told by this same builder that here people pick who to rip off, if you look like a soft touch, you will be ripped off. He says a builder in Javea tried that with some eastern european customers and was locked in a garage for three days as punishment. So don't be all nice and smiley or you will be laughed at and charged a small fortune.

@antoniolopezlopez4236
@antoniolopezlopez4236 4 дня назад
No, that´s not the way it works. If you live in Spain and you have taxable incomes here, because you live in the country for more than 183 days, you will pay IRPF from your payroll if you work for a company as employed person. What does this mean? The taxable income is divided by sections in progresive system: From the first 12.450 euro (yearly income) you pay nothing in taxes. It´s exempt. In the section from 12.450 to 20.199 you pay 24%. In the section from 20.199 to 35.200 you pay 30%. In the section from 35.200 to 59.999 you pay 37%. In the section from 60.000 to 299.999 you pay 45%. So, if someone told you that you will pay 45% in general thats not true. You will pay that only for the amounts exceeding 60.000 in yearly income. As an example, if your yearly income is, let´s say, 42.000 euro then you pay as follows: first 12.450 = 0 next section (20.199 - 12.450) * 0,24 = 1.859 next section (35.200 - 20.199) * 0,30= 4.500 Final section (42.000 - 35.200) * 0,37 = 2.516 So from your 42.000, you pay in total 8876 euro (aprox 21%). Aside you have another tributes to pay in concept of unemployment rent if you loose your job, or contributions to the pensions system. Those could rise the total tax and tributes to 30%-35% more or less, but you have some vantages: 1 - If you have children, your couple doesnt work or if you are disabled, etc... then you have more exemptions and you will take some money back from your tax payment. 2 - If you loose your job, if fired by normal reasons like end of contract etc... you will get some unemployment rent for an amount of time proportional to the time you have been working. If you have been fired by other reasons (not end of contract) then you will get in addition some economic compensation, but this last thing will not happen if you are fired by for example bad behaviour, breach of contract, bad performance etc.... In the meantime you are not working, there are some free courses offered by your local administration to train yourself. There is a catalog of this courses you can consult in the official website; these could include, acounting, construction, programming, hotel and catering.... etc... etc... 3 - You have unlimited access to the health system. It means that, if you have cancer or any other serious problem, the surgery and treatment will cost zero, or a small amount of money. You can also have a private health insurace in paralel which is affordable for 50-100 euros/month. It's good to have one if you want to go to an specialist without the long lists of the public health system, which is saturated sometimes for small health problems. The public health system is good if you have something severe and the treatment is expensive, then you go to the preferent list. In all cases you always can choose getting your treatment from your private insurance, it´s up to you, but if it´s very expensive normally they will dodge you or start a discussion about the insurance cover. Note: all mentioned above is for employees in general, not for self-employed person or companies. They have different taxation system.

If you are from the US i have bad news and good news. US is one of the two countries in the world taxing their citizens even if they don't live in the country anymore. Basically, if you are northamerican citizen, you have to pay. That means that you will pay taxes in Spain, and additionally in the US, both at once. Till here the bad news. Now the good news. There is a double taxation treaty between Spain and the US. It´s better for you to ask a tax attorney, but in general you can substract what you pay in Spain (the country you live) from the amount you pay in the US.

COULD I DO THIS? What would I need? I think that is possible if your LTD is paying you in the form of dividends you can claim it as passive income and use that as a exemption. If you really want to do this best thing to do is.secure a Spanish immigration attorney to assist you with best low to no tax implications. Also don't sell the house in England...keep it and rent it also that rental income can be used to qualify as passive income.

The minimal salary in spain for a full time job in 2024 is 1.134 eur/month (gross). Of course you can have a partial time job for less. Young people with less experience are usually having this min income regulated by law. In other cases is usually more, like in industry for example, but it depends on sectorial agreements between the sindicates and the companies and balance between offer/demand tesions in the labour market.

Don't Americans need to apply for a Longterm visa to live in Spain beyond the 3 months visa?

Yes, there are a few pathways for that.

Well for Americans it sounds cheap, but for Europeans it's expensive. Especially the rents in Valencia. I have lived in Granada and it's waaay cheaper over there, but I was shocked with the rents in Valencia 😭 don't forget: you don't earn much in Spain! If you get American income you are gonna live like a King/Queen over there. But for most of us Europeans it's damn expensive 😭😭😭

@@djasifalcon6379 from which country youoving to España? Granada is the cheapest option, Valencia is great, but not much nature and suuuper hot in Summer and expensive. Granada is a smaller city, more likely a University City, lots of international students live there. But nature is great, loved the climate thru the entire year (all seasons). Valencia is full of concrete, they try to make it more eco-friendly, but that will take a time

Valencia is my favorite city in Spain, but two words to those who want to move there: wealth tax.
@PaulPetrutFilms
@PaulPetrutFilms 6 месяцев назад
A lot of wrong info about taxes and the amount you need to live... Also you should say that earning 2000 euros for average employed people is almost impossible.. Very few people earn this amount. You need your own business for that. An important fact is that Valencia is a great city to live in, but if you come here looking for a job it is difficult to find something good and it is not well paid. The actual Rent is more higher. Renting a home became extremely difficult to encounter and you need an a minimum one year old contract, undefined, with at least 1600 salary. Nice video though, well done, very professional. Cheers

The team that racially harasses black soccer players. No thank you. I'll keep my humanity. Sorry for all of the black folks who think that Europe is their only option. Yes, the USA is more expensive, but as a working class black person, who has lived in 5 European countries, I prefer the US. By the way, no offense to Pierre. He seems like a great guy.

have lived in Valencia for a few months now and I defiantly would not recommend the city to anyone. Yes the prices used to be cheaper a few years ago now i really don't feel that they are much cheaper than other similar size cities on Europe. the people are very elitist and racist towards foreigners (gueri). i don't think i have ever felt such judgmental people anywhere. also, they have no manners or respect. for anyone or anything. I especially was disappointed at how Spainards treat working people badly, for example waiters as servants and in a very unrespectful manner. i have traveled the world and was very surprised by the culture of Spain especially in Valencia.
