I know everyone is like “just move to Texas!” and obviously y’all have your reasons not to BUT from what we’ve heard on what you want out of a house, you could TOTALLY find one in Texas that meets all your needs for less the price of California!!
@TexasbyStorm
@TexasbyStorm 5 лет назад
Looking at the price of homes in Temecula they are not a lot less expensive than Texas and the property taxes are so much higher in Texas. Where they will save money, especially if they are making enough money to buy a home, is there is no state income tax in TX. If they make a ton of money that could save them $1000s a year. But in comparison for property tax, in Temecula the yearly property tax on a $1M home is $11K a year. In the county I live in the property taxes on a $1M home is $21K a year. We aren't just taxed on our county and city, but also our school district. Each school district sets the rate, but all of them are at the very least $1.50 per $100K; then add the county and city tax rate to that and the cost is closer to $2.50 per $100K. A house they are looking for could cost over $1M in Texas depending on where they are looking. Austin and Dallas are both very expensive. I don't know the Houston market as well. If they want to live in the middle of nowhere they can get some good rates. We live 40 miles north of downtown Dallas and a home like they are looking for would cost $600K or more. You can find really nice homes that cost less, but they want one bigger than the one they looked at today and want a yard big enough for a pool and a large grassy area, that is going to cost a lot more, in Texas land is expensive. Which is silly since there is so much of it.

My advice, don't move just to be close to family, because things can change. Hubby and I bought this house, 1.it was inexpensive and 2. My parents, sister and brother all lived in the immediate area. Yeah, twenty years on and we are the only ones still living in this area and stuck here thanks to the market crash and negative equity. So move to where you guys will be happy, regardless of who is and isnt there.xx

I agree. Her mom moved and did what was best for HER. Rachelle and Justin should do what's best for them. It'll suck not having her for support, but they should base their decision to move on what they need. Not where their family is. What if their family moves again? Will they move again??

Moving to Texas was one of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made. With Texas when the market crashed it HARDLY affected Texas which is awesome. Texas also is so affordable, you could get a mansion for the price you would pay for a 3 bedroom in California

With houses, definitely think about the not so fun things too.... How old is the roof? How much would it cost to replace? What's the state of the plumbing, and what kind of pipes are used? Also, even if it's THE house, you emotionally need to be ready to walk away. House hunting online can be good too because you can see an endless variety of houses and think through what is really important to you. For example, I didn't realize how important having a utility room was to me until I bought a house that didn't have one!

I know I’ve said this before, but again, Texas is soooo much better! There would be virtually nothing holding me back lol. Then again we are used to moving a lot. A big motivator for me would be being close to my mom. I’d give anything to live close to my mom again. I can always find a new church and visit friends, but nobody comes before my Mama, except my husband of course lol, gotta include him. 😬😁 I would say to just pray and weigh the options. You will have a better quality of life in Texas and it’s so much better to raise a family there vs CA. I know it can be scary to think about up and moving, but trust me, you will make friends and find a church. The people in TX are really great. I miss it so much, but our final destination is going to be North Carolina once we leave CA in about a year. I too am faced with leaving people here, but I have to think of what would be best for our family and CA is just not it for us. We will be leaving family and friends too and it will be super hard for me so I can relate to what you’re feeling for sure. God will lead you in the right direction no matter what. 💛

Something to consider, especially in Texas, is utilities. Smaller towns usually have a monopoly so moving right out of town, and having the option of other companies, can sometimes be a HUGE difference.

There are so many good churches in Texas. If you move, you will find a new church home. Don’t not move because of what is holding you back in Texas. Keep an open mind. You might end up loving it when you go help your mom move. You can buy a mansion in Texas for the price you are buying in California. If you need help finding a church one day in Texas I used to be a missionary down there so I know many great churches that I personally partnered with. You can find a church where you can serve in the same capacity in Texas.

In 2008 my parents were buying a house in New York and our house in PA that we were trying to sell took almost a year to sell. It was awful, I hope you guys don't go through that! From experience....don't let others ( sisters/nephews/ friends etc) keep you in an area. In the blink of an eye, jobs change, finances change , relationships start and/ or end and they move because its best for them. You have to do the same. Is it easy? Heck no but you have to put your family first and your hopes and dreams for your family. Texas may be the place to make all your dreams come true. Bigger house, less financial stress, growing your family etc. Its easier in 2019 to keep in touch through FaceTime and social media, texting. We used to make a long distance call or write a letter LOL. Good luck with deciding but give Texas a fair shake, you might be surprised.

Moving sounds good but it's hard to build community. One nice thing about living farther away from Grandparents is the excitement kids get about visiting them. My kids think my in-laws are celebrities. It's magical for them to visit!

My husband and I are moving to central Texas in September. We initially believed that houses in Texas were prices great. The truth is they are priced okay, depending on the area, but the property tax is insanely high! So our dreams were basically shattered when we went from looking at brand new builds to homes we would definitely have to fix up! My only suggestion is do your own research!

Do what is best for you, Justin, and your little family. Don't worry about anyone else. There are pros and cons to everything. We are currently stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and as of right now when my husband can retire we are planning on buying a ranch out here even though our parents and my siblings are in Missouri and my husband's siblings are in Virginia. We just really like Texas and the property is very affordable out here at least what we are looking at and I'm kinda picky when it comes to the perfect ranch. I want to get back to homesteading as I did in high school and when we lived in Missouri. I mean we still own a house in Missouri we couldn't sell. Currently, it's under a rent to own agreement with some friends (Not sure if that was a good idea but we shall see) anyone I'm rambling. Do what you guys want and what's best for your little family! Love ya'll

Once y’all see what y’all can get for the money in Texas, y’all might be a little more inclined to look there. At the same time, I definitely understand y’all’s reasonings for wanting to stay in California. Either way, y’all are being really smart about how y’all are going about looking for your home. Take your time, find the one you really want because y’all will most likely be in that home for a long time. You don’t want to compromise on those things that are really important to y’all.

But I think if you even look further than Texas you will find it’s much cheaper. Texas is really good for veterans though. But Texas can also be really humid if you guys struggle with lung problems it ain’t gonna be fun. But I really hope y’all keep looking and find your dream home😁

If it makes you feel any better, I’ll be moving to Oklahoma to live with my boyfriend. It was hard to make the choice, but I’m going to have the house I’ve always dreamed of, and I would never be able to afford it here in California! My mom will be moving out with me too, and my dad will follow. I don’t have many things holding me back other than my friends, and the fact that I grew up here. But it’s more important to me to focus on what my life will be, and what I want. And I can’t get that here in California. So do what feels right! And think about YOU. You will make seeing the people you love work. You’ll be able to afford flights. There is face time and technology to keep in touch. Focus on your family! ❤️

For everybody that lost when the market dropped in 2008....look at where they are now. There will always be ebbs and flows. I bought in 2007 and was underwater for a few years. That property is now worth 30% more than when I bought it. If you can stay put and be patient, things will always work out. Don’t let fear of the unknown prevent you from taking a step forward.

Florida is good & a lot of houses have pools! 😉 Whatever you do check with insurance companies on where there could be sinkholes. Also make a list of things you both want in a house & things you can live without. My hubby & I lost our home in all the fake foreclosures (lost the proof we had after moving 9 freaking times, because of several very bad property management companies & over zealous investors that took advantage of older couples like us) that happened between 2007-2010 in Miami. Choose your home wisely & remember if there's HOA fees that you never really own your home & that the HOA'S control more than they tell you in most cases. HOA'S only mow the front or street facing yard areas. If that's the only thing that they offer you'll be better off hiring a lawn service company. You'll pay a lot less not living in an HOA community. The only real reason you'd want to live in an HOA is if you're a lot older or elderly to play bingo with other elders. I see a lot of that in the communities that HOA'S in Florida & I'm sure it's the same just about everywhere. Remember this might be your forever home. You're looking for something to grow your family in & a place for once they're all grown with kids of their own to have a place to go for the holidays. Make that list!!! Check it twice! Make sure it's the home you want, alright? And before I forget make sure you check county records before going to look at anymore homes. If there are errors on the deeds you've wasted time on a house that you'll never get a loan approved for until that deed is corrected. A lot of that happened when the mortgage crisis hit too soooooo check those county records!!! 👍

Hi guys, i know it looks like 90% of your comments are all like "TEXAS!!!!" But as a born and raised resident of Northern California, I wouldn't trade this state for anything!! Think about all the easily accessible activities in this state you can drive your family to that other families in other states pay thousands in airfare and hotels out here to see. Disneyland day trips, Joshua Tree, Yosemite, San Diego, San Fransisco, Lake Tahoe, ECT. It's definitely more than just looking for a house that meets your needs, it's the family, friends, and communities out here that you love. My mom moved out of state (as she is also retired) and I am so happy I didn't follow her cause then I would have only know her and my husband out there and would have been so lonely. These are just my onions and like the rest of your viewers I just want you guys to be happy!

I can’t wait to see Emma’s new ride!! Whenever I sell something I make sure it’s spotless. Seriously, how hard would it have been to spray it down?! Lol.

Texas I feel like y’all will get what your asking for and more. California is just to expensive but I understand you have a lot of people you love there. I understand Nick and I trying to save for our first house we don’t know what to do. We live in Gadsden, Alabama and ether you build or get a trailer and redo it so we honestly don’t know

Emma is going to love that! I work at a childcare center and the kids go crazy for those cars - I don't know how many disputes I have to settle about who gets to play with it 😂

I live in Washington State, we just built our first home 🏡 (it is built from a model home) for 270k - 3 bedroom 2.5 bath, 2,000 square feet, on an acre with a 2 car garage. You should seriously consider moving if you have your heart set on a big home!

My son Steven had one of those cars the exact same colours too. He's 29 now but as a kid he loved it. Love your videos.

My oldest daughter had a car that was battery powered and it was a car that was a promotion for the grocery store her biological father worked at from the soft drink named "squirt" lol. It was yellow and so cool. LMAO

We had the same issue with property tax and looked in Murrieta and Temecula. We found that anything newer in Murrieta had the higher property tax and couldn’t afford it. Parts of Temecula were the same.. anything newer (like 30 years new) has the tax hat we couldn’t afford. We ended up finding our home in Rancho Bella vista (Murrieta) and kinda have a higher tax rate but not as bad as some of the other areas.

I'd say just pray and let God guide you guys. I'm from Texas and I do think it'd be best in getting more for your money but again pray and let God guide.

Hey there from your fellow Temeculan! Check out Chardonnay Hills and Temeku Hills! Both are HOA and cute areas, as well as both have community pools and parks if you can’t afford one of the houses with a pool!! Both communities have many options of how many beds etc. and have many options with pool or no pool etc.!! Good luck!!

My husband works in construction for a company that builds single and multi family homes. From what he’s seeing right now he and many other people at his company believe that we’re going to hit another recession in the next few years. If you’re going to buy, do it ASAP. And I’d suggest you do it in Texas

Don’t let taxes stop you if you have the money and it isn’t going to be to bad.. and HOAs can be a bad thing just as much as a good thing everyone I’ve known who’s bought with HOAS has had major issue

My best suggestion is if you have plans to move to Texas in the next 15 or so years, do it within the next 2-3 years so that when baby Emma is in school she doesn't have to change schools, states, house, etc.. Kids are adaptable but that's alot of change to throw at a little one.

I know what it's like to have your mom move away. I am in Ohio and my mom is in South Carolina. She and my stepdad want me to move there but my husband has never lived outside of Ohio and is content to stay here. Visits are nice but it's still hard every time I have to leave. I'm glad that you have your sister. I'm an only child.

I am a native Texan and have been to California many times. Look on the internet and you will not believe the square footage, yard and pool you can get for the money! We have wonderful churches and your mom will be there! Good Luck!

My opinion You could always fly back to Cali to visit. the money you’d save on a house in Texas or anywhere else you could use to visit Cali as much as you wanted! Instead of almost being in debt because houses are soo expensive in Cali! We live in Nevada own 6 acres 4 bedroom-3 baths- two living rooms and spacious kitchen
