I’ve loved watching these videos and find you so relatable. I know exactly what you mean when you say you feel like you aren’t doing enough because your husband is the one working with his hands and fixing things. I’ve often felt the same way. I love what your mom said and she’s so right. All the other stuff we do makes it so our husbands can do what they do best and so they don’t stress about the other things. It’s so nice having a husband who is handy isn’t it?! Growing up my parents always hired people and not only did it take time because you had to work around their schedule and then have strangers in the house but it cost extra money too

So what I’m hearing you guys say is that you’re basically renovating a house identical to mine. My husband and I moved into my childhood home and my dad is basically the same way that your previous owner was. We have the same: 1. Woodwork 2. Bathroom issues 3. Weird drywall 4. Unsafe electrical 5. Corrugated metal roof problems 6. Dangerous propane and heat issues 7. No doors/weird doors 8. Weird in-wall lighting 9. Insulation, tires, and garbage in the woods 10. Unfinished and unused upstairs 11. Dangerous stairs 12. Rotten wood 13. Unsafe dryer vents So much more dude. I truly wish you could see my house, they are like IDENTICAL. Every time you guys show something, I show it to my husband and he laughs. We should be besties. 4.
Finley reminds me of my husband. Jack of all trades and the master of none BUT still somehow excel at it every time. 😂 whatever they put their mind to, they can do. I like what he said about it not having to be right, but it needing to be done! It doesn’t have to be pretty but has to be safe and functional lol. I would love to hear finleys take on why he chose to do many odd jobs. As i get older i definitely find it more important to be knowledgable in a lot of different areas and I do basically hold the belief that having 1 career for your whole life is pretty unsustainable. Definitely want to take notes out of his book!! OBSESSED with the moving vlogs, legends.

I've been watching your videos since I was like 14/15 (we're the same age!) and frankly, it's super awesome. I think you (and maybe like 1 or 2 others) are the only creator I've kept watching since my early teenage years. To know that there will be so much to come from just simply building your home to what you want it to be is so exciting and I am so grateful you decided to share with us what you do! It's inspiring and awesome and refreshing to see other people my age live a slower life, a more hands-on life, and have really similar values. It's so rare these days! The world wants to move so fast and I'm just so happy to see this slow, realistic view of what life actually is.

And yes I do agree with your mom that making calls to different providers, trades people, and companies is very necessary and time consuming. Hey guys! Just wanted to point out it's worth checking for bed bugs. In Finnley's little section of the vlog (~9:20) there are some black dots on the wall. Most likely just something splatted on the wall from the pipe or something but just worth a check because those are a nightmare and the sooner you find them the better. Loving the vlog so far!

When I moved into my fixer upper house, our sewage trap must of been broken so all of our plumbing started coming up in our basement drains and it was HORRID.
The nicest thing is the wood flooring is good you can just sand and restain its more work on you & fin then money thank god that will save a lot of money!

Your fingers will usually swell in the summer! During the fall and winter months the swelling should go down! In fact, sometimes my rings fall off completely.
