I have been studying the Moy Yat Ving Tsun system for 11 years and trust me, his lineage is the real deal, direct from under Ip Man to Ng Mui. Any school you go to under his chops will be well worth taking a looking into at least.

@bl00zjamma I believe waving hands is just to train and condition your wrists. When we punch or palm strike in wingchun, we snap the wrist up at the last moment to add more impact. The move can also help you learn to relax your forearm and biceps even when moving your wrist around. A lot of the WC forms can be sort of cryptic because they just remind you of a certain concept instead of showing you the exact sequence of moves to use in a fight.

My Great Great Grandmaster, Moy Yat- artist & calligrapher. Carved his Sifu, Ip Man's sayings into stone for the ages. So much respect.

Generally, you are meant to play Biu Jee with the highest energy, but for 'demonstration' it is sometimes done slowly. Excellent post, I'm amazed this found its way to RU-vid. There is no Ip Man Biu Jee video. This is a perfect 'old school' reference.

@rosegerringer Sil Lim Tao is the basic foundation of WC. Training the person to keep their balance and where is their center, teaching them that strength comes from the ground. You can do it fast if you want, but if you just started to learn you want to train yourself to have proper structure and that strength comes from the ground. So it's better to do it very slowly. Yip Man does SLT for 20mins.

There are several videos explaining what Biu Jee does but I will save you the trouble and explain it here. Other people have explained that it is the expression of energy which is true for the most part. The techniques demonstrated isn't exactly designed to be used to initiate a combat scenario. It is there as a 'last resort' technique hence why it is the last form. If an opponent bypasses all the things you have learnt in the first 2 forms then this last form is there to 'recover' from it.

@rosegerringer THE BOOK BY WILLIAM CHEUNG BIL JEE EXPLAINS THE 3 MOVES WITH THE HANDS , THEY DO THAT TO TRAIN MOVING THE FINGERS SO THEY DON'T BREAK WHEN THEY ARE THRUST INTO SOMEONE'S EYES!
@rosegerringer
@rosegerringer 13 лет назад
@rosegerringer the book WING CHUN BIL JEE- BY WILLIAM CHEUNG IS VERY GOOD FOR THIS TOPIC ;FOR HE EXPLAINS THAT THE 3 MOVES TO THE SIDE AND DOWN ARE WAYS OF TRAINING YOUR HANDS TO MOVE JUST A LITTLE SO THE FINGERS DON'T BREAK WHEN YOU THRUST THEM INTO SOME ONES' EYES! SO HELLO AND GOOD LUCK, I was to soon old and to late smart in this style,so wait and see. . .

@chineseeyes2006 How can one know that for sure ? The book (william chun bil jee) says Ng Mui ,( a nun?) then it says that wing chun was an orphan ect ect . In any event thanks for the answer .

i don't know the politics. That's why I didn't post it. I sure am happy to see Gun-Guns kung fu where the world can see it. With RU-vid we can learn so much from all these vids. Like I say, I have the videotape, saw it in person too. But it sure is sweet to see him here!

Ok so this is to wing Chun practitioners with a high decent level of skill. So when I watch this I can't help but notice moy Yat keeps looking at his feet when he moves. So just like dancing once you have done it and keep doing it the rest of your life and not out of practice your muscle memory is there and you no longer would need to look at where your feet are at. It just bugs me. You know if you watch master of other systems like Choy lee fut or hung gar they obviously have a lot more foot work but when they perform there forms they don't look done at there footwork. What do you guys think?

GREETINGS, I HAVE ONE QUESTION AND IT'S THAT WHEN I BEGAN LEARNING V. TSUNG THE THE MASTER ASKED ME TO DO 'SIL LIM TAO' VERY SOLWLY,WHY IS THAT? THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE MASTER BENNY MENG, FILM AND ARTICLE ON LINE. SOME OF THE 70'S MOVIES ABOUT WING TSUNG ARE GREAT, SHE EVEN GETS KILLED BY A THROWING STARR, AFTER DEFENDING POOR POEPLE AND WINNIG IN HEROIC COMBAT!

What I see is a generous demonstration of Master Moy Yat's personal expression of Biu Jee and I believe it works for him. What I don't understand are those viewers who think they're expression is better or what he knows is more perfect only because he thinks he knows or just from a few mediocre encounters. And yet they were once ignorant and copycats. What ARROGANCE! Observe and understand your ignorance! Wing Chun practitioners? You don't even have or learned the WC virtues we promote. You even haven't fought with this guy in his prime! Very disrespectful... go home.

moy yat is not the same as other wing chun styles, it is unique and much more aggressive. I trained in richmond, Va. at moy yat ving tsun kung fu academy from 87-93, at this time there was only 2 studios in entire world that taught this style, virginia and new york. this is not wing chun, this is ving tsun

@vgrzen and bl00zjamma: you must be taught by somebody who knows what they are doing, the form is useless without the first 2 forms and you must figure it out for yourself for the most part, application will almost never look like technique

i understand that your comment is a year old but, i will attempt to give you an idea so you can run with it or not. biujee as well as the rest of the forms are an expression of energy. its understated, i know yet its my right to be cryptic concerning something that i earned.

@policeluigi The problem of lineage is i.m.o. overrated/overestimated. If one was a lousy but direct student of Yip Man, nobody should doubt his lineage - but makes this a good wingchun fighter at all? My advice: look out for a teacher who has obtained the right corporeal-physique. That means One who could stand, turn, step and kick without any shifting of his bodyweight. Moy Yat was such not! I commence Pupils of Leung Ting or Kernspecht (both most `hated´-Sifus). Learn the forms & practise!

If Ng Mui existed or not, no matter... The most of 3000 lienages of Kung Fu come of myths and;or legends... Try understand the essence of Kung Fu only for the fight is not good Kung Fu... The lineage of Ip Man through Moy Yat is excellent and he said that no everyone will reach of the primor of Wing Chun. The techniques are passed will depend on each one and get to the highest level. Not everyone can see.

@chineseeyes2006 WOMEN ARE USUALLY VERY WEAK; BUT I ONCE HAD A REAL SET OF PROBLEMS KEEPING UP WITH A VERY WELL TRAINED WOMAN WHO WAS ABOUT 20 YEARS OLDER THAN ME AT THE TIME, AND I TELL YOU IT WAS HELL, IN FACT I WISH YOU THE SAME THING SOME DAY BECAUSE IT'S SOME TIMES THE BEST WAY TO LEARN. . . IF YOU EVER HAVE THE GREAT LUCK TO BE IN A REAL KUNG FU ACADEMY THAT DOES VING TSUNG( NOT WATERS OR W/C )YOU WILL SEE WHATS REAL❂

Respond to this video... YOU HAVE TO TAKE A GOOD TRADITIONAL VING TSUNG CLASS TO UNDERSTAND THAT . . . THING ABOUT THEM IS THAT THEY ARE INTO PUNCHING MORE THAN BREAKING, IF THEY ARE GOOD THEY DON'T EVEN NEED TO DO COMBAT TRICKS, IT'S BETTER TO OUT CLASS AN ASS HOLE! BUT IN THE OLDEN DAYS THEY USED TO CUT OFF AND SLASH THE WRISTS OR TENDONS AND NECK!
