Great vid. I'm using a g923 right now. In future I am going to upgrade to a wheel of this tier. A cool vid in future that would be helpful to me would be comparing wheel bases of this tier/price point between brands.

Hi Shaun! I really appreciate your dedication towards sim racing. Been watching you on and off ever since you convinced me to get the CSR wheel 10 years ago🙂 I since upgraded to the CSL dd. If you don't mind. With all your experience with all these different products. Which one has the smallest footprint / least obstructs your vision over / through the wheel? I'd like to see the dash on the monitor, but my csl dd is being a bit of a brick. Mostly a round wheel problem though, not so much with the formula style. Keep up the good work! Greetings from Norway🇳🇴👋🏻

R5 and R9 are the smaller than the CSL DD height, but check the dimensions first. The R9 is very small from my experience of owning one, and r5 is just a shorter version.

Good day to all. I recently upgraded my computer and tried to download the drivers for my Thrustmaster TS-XW wheel it went into "sleep mode" according to thrustmaster. Any ideas on how I can wake my wheel up. Any help would be appreciated beyond you could know.

Just ordered a R21 and GS wheel, I've taken ages choosing between this and the SimMagic. Hope I made the right choice, either way it's going to be a huge upgrade on an ancient Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

I'm on a T300 atm and have been looking at my next wheel base for weeks now, currently leaning towards the R21. Have you got yours set up yet?
@leicfoxUK
@leicfoxUK Год назад
@@JC_303 Yes, it's all setup and it's great. The only thing I'd say is that for me personally, 21 newton meters is too strong and I'm never going to run it at that strength. At 50% I can barely hang on to it, I could have got away with the R16 or maybe even the R9. The GS wheel is also really nice, I've got it with the microfiber leather but I still think I'm going to get some gloves to race with.
@JC_303
@JC_303 Год назад
@@leicfoxUK cheers for the info mate, from what I understand even if the torque isn't at full whack you still get more detail on the more powerful wheel bases. I prefer the look of the R9 but I know if I got it I would feel like I'm missing out haha I'd get a simucube if the wheels were cheaper. Tbh the Moza wheels look better anyway.

@badgeud5709 Год назад
Does a powerful base manage more easily different effects a the same time than a less powerful base?
@halsoy
@halsoy Год назад
Not really. The main difference between a high torque and low torque wheel is that it can deliver the same tourque all the time. Also known as holding torque. What this means is that a wheelbase like mine (I have the R9) has a peak torque of 9nm, but a holding torque around 8nm. That means I can experience 9nm when a car hits something hard like a curb or in a crash, but a little less when the front tires are struggling for grip in a corner. Something like the R21 has a holding torque slightly lower than 21, around 19 I think. But that also means that anywhere under that number you can ALWAYS get that torque. So you can feel a car struggle for grup harder (which can but not always will mean better detail). This also means that some details that may be lost on my 9nm wheel during a corner may come through in a higher torque base. Lastly there may be different motors in the bases, and one motor may be just better at providing subtle details. But that's not always true just because it's bigger.
@davedeja
@davedeja Год назад
I love the looks of this one but 21NM is way more than I need or even want to use. I'm 61 years old and have no desire to wrestle that thing. I'm sure there is a market for it but it's not for me. And if there are only a few wheel rims to choose from... This may be a high power wheel base, But dogs don't roar...

Do you think a moza R9 would be enough or is it better to get a R16/21?
@DeltaInsanity
@DeltaInsanity Год назад
It depends what you're looking to get out of your wheel, but IMO the R9 is more than enough for most people. I've had the R9 for a few weeks now and turn down the in-game FFB for most cars. Otherwise it feels like I'm fighting the wheel more than anything, and for longer races it gets too tiring.
@dirtywindshield5034
@dirtywindshield5034 Год назад
Depends on the person, but most of the reviewers mention that they prefer about 12 for daily use.
@BoosiveFPV
@BoosiveFPV Год назад
R9 would be enough if it's your first dd wheelbase. You will grow out of it though at some point more than likely. As you get used to it. But it's a good entry to direct drive for sure. Until you're ready to get more serious.

Can you explain why bottom mount is a not so good ? i thought all wheels are bottom mounted, or am i thinking wrong ? thx
@mrspangles932
@mrspangles932 Год назад
It's not that it isn't good, it's just that it limits your mounting options compared to most other DD wheels that also give the option to front mount
@ChrisDaytrader
@ChrisDaytrader Год назад
@@mrspangles932 Oh i see, but on a 1K or any direct drive wheel, surely most people have a rig ?, so you would want to bottom mount anyway, front mount aint stable at all is it.
@mrspangles932
@mrspangles932 Год назад
@@ChrisDaytrader Not sure why you think that tbh. Front mounting is a very popular and very secure mounting method. Like I said, one isn't any better or worse than the other. It's just about options.
@ChrisDaytrader
@ChrisDaytrader Год назад
@@mrspangles932 I say, because even my £200 Logitech wheel that has front clamps move, and thats just belt driven, direct drive wheels much more power, plastic clamps are not good i thought.
@mrspangles932
@mrspangles932 Год назад
@@ChrisDaytrader They're not using clamps to mount them, they have threaded holes on the corners of the front face and are bolted to mounting plates on rigs.

Overpriced considering the SC2 Pro can be had for $1279 USD. I also disagree that it is the best looking wheelbase as plastic on a DD just looks terrible as compared to all metal construction or even metal/carbon fiber like the DD2 or SiMagic.
