Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Krönungsmesse in C-Dur KV 317 Herbert von Karajan Wiener Phlharmoniker Singers: Kathleen Battle, Gösta Winbergh, Rudolf Scholz 00:00 Kyrie 03:29 Gloria 07:48 Credo 15:05 Sanctus, Benedictus 20:37 Agnus Dei
IO C'ERO! I WAS THERE! 29 giugno 1985, festa dei Santi Pietro e Paolo, basilica di San Pietro. Ero seduto dietro l'altar maggiore, avevo l'orchestra alla mia sinistra, Von Karajan davanti a me. E a celebrare la Messa un santo come papa Giovanni Paolo II. Ricordi incancellabili!
I saw this in St Pieterskerk in Leiden. With 600 voices. Wow! This is fantastic. I think Karajan is in love with soprano. Who can blame him. What a voice!
It's easy to think of von Karajan as some kind of regimented, ice-cold perfectionist. But the look on his face as the ethereal Kathleen Battle sings Agnus Dei at 21:08, he seems to be emotionally transported to another place
I was very lucky to have seen him liveconducting the Berlin Philarmonic Orchestra in Lisbon , Portugal, May 1968, performing Mozart and Beethoven. Karajan performance shows like you say, transported to another place. Exactly like in this "Agnus Day".
think HVK was a sensitiv emotional man with a burning passion to Xpress MOZART and others - key to hot passion on this LEVEL is STRIX striXER even mors STRIXi..--,,
Karajan liked singers. Many others thought singers were only interested in a pretty sound - not real musicians. Karajan hearing Georgiev in a kind of try out early in her career was shocked "She can sing anything". Karajan also supported singers outside Europe. He was an early supporter of Price and here Battle.
Glorioso anno europeo della musica! Fantastica interpretazione di Karajan e musicisti, che rendono onore alla gloria del grande musicista Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart!
Mozart would have been so proud of this performance of his Krönungsmesse in C-Dur KV 317. Conductor Karajan, performers (the Choir included), orchestra, all embodied Mozart's worK. As if Mozart's himself had written the Coronation Mass especially for this performance and each and every one of the performers. The expressions on Karajan face are undescribable.
Дуже дякую Вам за це уточнення, бо в опису до відео цієї інформації нема. Чудовий ансамбль солістів! А Караяну тут 77 років! Феноменальне мистецьке довголіття!
Ethereal, indeed. An absolutely magnificent performance. I agree with the last comment. Von Karajan is far from ice-cold. Whatever the image, he could not get the outcomes he gets with rigid perfectionism.
I don't know if I am mistaken, but I think I watched a video here on yt of this full mass, with the parts celebrated by Pope John Paul II, but now I only seem to find either the video of only the music, or only the sound of the full mass, without video... Does any one know where to find the video of the full mass?
This event was a historical concert, because all Mozart' messa had been long prohibited in Catholic churches due to the fact that Mozart had been a member of FREEMASON, the notorious secret society, which has opposed all forms of religion, including Catholic, so Catholic didn't allow Mozart's cathoric music like messa to be performed in its cathedrals. The turning point, however, was Karajan's visit to Vatican to see Pope Paulus 2 who was willing to give Karajan some gifts. Karajan asked Pope whether he could perform Mozart' coronation messa during the messa of Vatican. Pope Paulus response was this performance you are all watching. Since then, all Mozart's messa have been performed in every cathoric church. So this is the historical event in the music history.
What is your evidence for saying that Mozart's masses were banned in Catholic Churches? I have not been able to find any evidence for such a ban. It is true that Mozart was a Freemason, but he was also a practising Catholic and clearly saw no contradiction between his faith and his Masonic activities. There are many different forms of Freemasonry, and not all of them are anti-religious. Also, I think you mean Pope John Paul II. Pope Paul II died in 1471.
As a Catholic and freemason I'm obliged to say that you're talking utter nonsense. The only thing that's right, is the fact that Mozart was a Brother Freemason. Everything else is simply wrong, the pope's name inclusive. His name is John Paul II. The "heretic" Mozart was ornated with one of the highest honours the pope could give to a lay, the Order of the Golden Spur. Because of a concert he gave with his sister in front of the pope. At the Vatican. Any remarks?
@@Anicius_ Projection would be my guess. I would bet she is a mask-Nazi who feels the need to make herself feel virtuous by pointing to others to dissipate her own tendencies towards authoritarianism.
