I'm always intrigued when Jonathan performs a piece of music on the organ usually associated with another instrument. OK, pianos and organs have the same keyboard layout, but they produce a completely different sound. Jonathan has not disappointed me yet.

Totally agree, What I rather did not like, is using hand and feet for this piece, because it can give impression that an originally piano piece that uses only one keyboard and 2 hands, NEEDS at the organ all its resources (many keyboards and using hands & feet + stops changes) ; thus piano purists shall say " look, we do not need all these resources and such an expensive huge & complex instrument to play masterpieces like this so, let us with our simple 1 keyboard piano, we never get tired of it !!" § Because I DO DEFEND THE PIPE ORGAN & I 's a pipe organ purist fan ( I'm 39 engineer) (As an Pure Musical Instrument, (not liturgical cause I am not Christian, , I'm MUSLIM of Morocco)) & I hate piano (and violin even more)), but the fact that piano has been for 200 years the example of keyboard instruments makes me uncomfortable , because the first ever keyboard was actually for the pipe organ !!!! I mean, for a not very difficult piano piece, it should be done on organ using only one keyboard or minimal resources, so that the organ will have always other resources for really symphonic and difficult pieces. for information , organ pieces of french classical era by Clerambault use only hands in the same kayboards with just stops to changes (Suite 2nd tone, etc...).

To Jonathan I hope that Jonathan will read and agree with this article ^^ I am writing this post using a short amount of time thinking that I should leave a comment before today is over. It was early morning in Korea when this video was uploaded. As soon as I opened my eyes, I listened to this song and was so happy and surprised. I am a worship accompanist at the Presbyterian Church and a beginner in the organ. I was practicing carefully because my teacher emphasized playing with the 3rd and 4th fingers. It reminded me of my favorite Mozart, his song Turkey March, and I played this song about a week ago. With a beat similar to Jonathan. Of course, it lacks a lot, but while listening to Jonathan's arrangements, I was influenced and played with that feeling. I want to listen carefully to the pedal point and play it accordingly. Do you have sheet music? I want to challenge. I would have been even more ecstatic if I had heard it in a concert hall, but I am happy just listening to it on my car audio while driving. thanks! From fan woori in Korea.

@gmfamcdonald1465
@gmfamcdonald1465 Год назад
@@epincion He can't very well publish the concert where the audience has paid to be entertained. That would not be ethical. That is why most of his recordings are produced when there is no audience, so we, who are 'afar off', may also have the opportunity to appreciate his (and Tom's) prodigious talent. I, for one, don't know how I would have survived the horrendous Covid lockdowns , without a daily intake of their amazing virtuosity! They should be recognized internationally for their contribution to the emotional wellbeing of music lovers around the globe.

Note 10 for your comment. Note 10 for your comment. It should even be forbidden to publicize concerts in the rooms where the shows are held. When he discloses, as was this case, it must be when the public asks for "encore". But it certainly wasn't part of the concert repertoire.
@epincion
@epincion Год назад
@@gmfamcdonald1465 I disagree. Jonathan and Tom quite regularly post an online version of concerts that are ticketed for a live audience. The recording is usually done during the practice session as it allows retakes if needed plus there is no coughing and other noises from the audience. The online concert is invariably a cut-down version to around 45 mins. It is time consuming and expensive to record especially at the level of quality Tom does which needs multiple cameras and microphones and then a high degree of post processing before the Premier is sent out on YT. Those attending in person don't get short changed at all - they get the full sonic effect of the organ (or organ & piano) in the venue which can never be replicated in a recording, plus they very often get to meet Jonathan & Tom who like to mix with fans afterward.
