Lieber Kit! Vielen Dank, die Gefühle sind bei mir angekommen! Musik ist schon ein Wunder für uns alle. Meine ungarische Gesangslehrerin (sie war Ende der 60-er Jahren Klassenkameradin von Zoltan Kocsis und András Schiff im Franz Liszt Konservatorium in Budapest) hat mich getadelt, als ich beim Proben einer schönen Passage arg ergriffen war: "Das Publikum soll weinen, nicht du!"

Hello Kit!. We have been delighting in your broadcasts - not quite daily 'sermons' from the church, but better than the real thing! Food for the soul and brain, and making acquaintance with new or remote works, composers and eras. I was particularly gripped by this episode on the Adagio of the Mozart K.570, concerning your doubts as to whether you would ever feel at one with this supremely elusive, even baffling, movement. Please forgive me for the following, as my remarks seek to open up the issue, rather than criticise. But on listening to your performance - despite the beauty on display - it was evident that inner conflicts were at work . My feeling is that the serious intensity of the approach - the perceived tread of 'Adagio' - was cutting off the heartbeat that Mozart's music lives or dies by. The lack of rhythmic 'lift' also flattened the contrasts between sections and thus the architecture of the whole... I did a bit of googling to hear whether other pianists played at similar slow tempi. and the answer I got from this huge sample of 5 including you (Pires, Uchida, Richter, Gilels) was that Uchida’s performance, despite being only fractionally faster than the rest, brought Mozart gloriously back into the frame - everything idiomatically in place, wonderful rhythmic fluidity, subtle phrasing, over-all coherence in structure and contrasting moods... ‘…better that it can be played’? The harder one tries to disprove this, the truer it becomes…

Je partage entièrement votre analyse extrêmement gracieusement exprimée.... En peinture on pourrait dire c’est l’esprit qui voit et non l’œil, la lumière est partout. Profitez bien des fleurs luxuriantes des alpages au mois de juin. Ce morceau est d’une grande profondeur....Odeur d’herbe fraîchement coupée....

Bien très bien ce que vous exprimez sur la musique mais la métaphysique de la musique c´est quand-même en la parution d´un son...bien à vous dans vos alpages...n´oubliez pas la tendresse des chèvres..et le paisible des superbes vaches qui vous entourent la-bas en Autriche..... bonne continuation...
