1 - Molto Allegro
Performed by: Divino Sospiro (on period instruments)

(Live recording in the Belem Cultural Center, 2006. The CD is called "Chiaroscuro")
"(...) the opening of the first movement (...) begins with a brief unusual trembling sound of violas and basses, which became a role model for the opening of many symphonic pieces of Romanticism (...). Mozart alternates desperate questions and uncertain answers, proceeding to the forte of all the orchestra, yet unable to provide neither solution nor answer.
(...)
In the past this symphony had delivered the most contradicting impression: after the death of Mozart it was known as the "horrid" symphony, but later it was regarded as a model of Apollonian grace. Then, during the 19th century and part of the 20th century, this piece became the object of somber performances, without any respect for the indications of the original score." by Enrico Onofri
