It depends what dryness you need and what you plan to do with cake. For composting, dryness of cake is typically suitable. Sun drying or any different type of drying can be used for removing intersticial and bond water (thus increasing final dryness of cake), which is trapped in the bacterias/cells and other organic compounds in the sludge, which can't be removed by any mechanical ways.
@@Mateo-q5h Polymer selection is very sludge dependent, but most typically would use high-charge cationic acrylamid polymer with net structure in emulsion forms, as these produce durable flocks, which don't shear easily and provide very effective water drain rate.
