This is a really difficult ethical decision for everyone. It is a question of choosing the lesser of two evils. Sometimes however, I think people can be blinded by empathy and can be so unaware of how all the changes we are making to the way we live in our country will have long lasting consequences to us all. This is why I am thankful to this politician for try to tell the other side. You may not agree with him but he is going against public consensus to get his opinion heard and his opinion is a valid one.

Maybe I'm just another silly American who falls victim into equating the British accent with intelligence and reason. That being said, I wish we had more politicians in the States who would speak like this. We need men and women in government who will stand up and speak the truth without fear of their popularity waning. Money is being made off the suffering of everyday people due to this "pandemic". If that wasn't the case, the world would have stopped acting so mad. God help us all.

Hoping someone can answer this question? In July Chris witty the chief medical officer stated in a parliamentary select committee hearing that the virus was already in retreat prior to the implementation of lockdown. The reason for this is that the case data in March and April Was incomplete due to a lack of testing therefore the most accurate data during the 1st wave of the pandemic was the data for deaths. The peak in deaths according to the ONS Was on a 8th April, studies show That on average it takes 3 weeks to die from coronavirus after contracting it. Therefore in order to find the true peak in the number of cases you would count back roughly 3 weeks from the peak in deaths That would take you to several days prior to the implementation of the lockdown. Also Add to this as outlined recently by sage lockdowns take at least 2 weeks to start reducing transmission. So it is impossible to claim that the lockdown caused the peak in the number of infections, as it would have had to have been implemented as early as the 7th of March (prior to the cheltnam festival and liverpool vs athletico). The sage group Has stated that lockdowns do not prevent Infections they merely push infections into the future and therefore lockdown measures do not Prevent deaths they delay when they happen. the purpose of the lockdown measures is to slow transmission So hospitalizations dont Rise too quickly and overwhelm the NHS. So if the peak in infections was prior to the implementation of lock down then the peak number of hospitalizations and deaths was not reduced by lock down either and As the nhs was never overwhelmed It would suffice to sayThat the lockdown was pointless as The nhs was never going to be overwhelmed. Agree or disagree?
