Step 1: Launch VLC and hit “Media” from the menu bar. Scroll for “Convert/Save” option.

In case anyone is wondering, it will cost you $80 if you want to actually recover anything. The VLC methods he lists just flat out doesn't actually work, ever, for anyone. And you can scan for the files with their software, but you can't do anything with them without paying.

Damn i miss the Time when there was free Software around. I downloaded the Software and tried to repair my video but could only watch a Preview and not save the Video without paying for it which is something that wasn´t mentioned but i was not surprised. It´s good that i could see the preview because it showed me that it doesnt work anyway.

OMG!!! Thank you sooooo much! During a shoot, I inadvertently formatted my micro SD card with 16 irreplaceable video files on it. I've spent 2 full days trying to recover them. I was able to get the files off the memory card but all the codec information was stripped out so they couldn't be played or viewed. Thank you so much for this video - I had deleted footage by accident off of my SD card BUT was able to recover some of the footage with a tool called Disk Drill - however, the mp4 files didn't play on anything, VLC, M player, etc. Your tool DID work and played my videos after the advance scan!! I was so relieved! But when I saw all of the previews I was so disappointed, the recovered files were all of the wrong videos, meaning that the recovered video files were not the ones I wanted. Meaning that those videos I wanted are gone forever. Ah well. Only wanted to leave a comment for those wondering if this tool works: yes it absolutely does! Thank you guys for making such a wonder of a tool! I will certainly keep it and upgrade if I ever need it again in the future! :)

Whoah, the VLC trick worked! Thank you!! (It was a Twitch Stream that I downloaded. At one point something was wrong. Video editing programs would crash when exporting it, and the video wouldn't play past a certain point)

Wanted to recover one 3 minute corrupted video, which it did but I have to buy the top package for £118.97 for the year which is too expensive so I didn't go ahead with it. You should have an option for customers who want to recover just one file/video. I bet you will gain more sales this way.

hi, i have a footage which is 1:37 long, but it stops at 1:08, and google photos said it can't be uploaded. i tried both VLC and Windows Photos, they do fix the problem and save to a new clip, but they don't preserve the original date/time. may i know your software could preserve the original date/time or let user to manually enter date/time info? many thanks!

Wondershare worked for me with advanced repair, thank you. The footage was a bit jittery but it was all there unlike other solutions; which none other worked. VLC did not work at all for my situation. Kernel Video Repair which was not able to restore the audio only very jittery video. Tried to get help from tech no help, they disconnected from chat. Easeus video repair tool kept scanning everything beyond the file I needed repaired; don't even bother. Wondershare should allow the file to be downloaded rather than a small file that allows downloading. I always like to have backups for quick reinstall if ever required.

The first repair suggestion did not fix my file. Renaming my file to ".avi" does not change the file type on my system. I'm on Windows 10. Any other suggestions to change file type?

Because you need to choose mkv format for recording, not mp4. Mp4 is for screen recoding on desktops, preferrably with UPS, but not for handheld battery powered devices. You can convert to MP4 later, but the original recording is to be done in MKV.

@@tiagomota4734 I would help you if I knew how. Sorry I don't know. If I were you I would first try to copy the flash memory sector by sector with file (data) recovery software to another disk, then on that disk try to restore the file. Then try a few video players ensuring that all necessary codecs installed, then try some video repair software packages to work with the file, then try opening the file in various modern video editors, try extracting the video track, maybe then try some video format converting software to covert to another format and try to play it, and see if anything works. But if the video track has all zeros, I don't think anything can be done. If this is very important you can consult and send your flash memory to a professional data recovery company, but that would cost money.

Is it possible to repair the video plus it's audio?, this is after recovering footage from a formatted SD card and the video files(mov.) aren't playing and after repairing it with wondershare, the videos are repaired without their audio, so is their a way to recover/repair both the video and it's audio?

My files couldn’t even be recovered using the advanced repair option, is it a lost cause? It was a capture .mp4 file from a PC, transferred by USB to a Mac, 8 of the videos on the USB run fine, and the other 20 are corrupted but they run fine on my PC. I tried converting to .mov but the conversation software can’t even read the file due to the damage, so then I turned to repair. I used stellainfo to repair the files, then after 20 of them got scanned, all were “severely damaged” and needed advanced repair, but even after advanced repair I wasn’t able to save the file. I might just have to start over.

I don't know why, but VLC cant properly convert my videos. I'm going from .WEBM to .MP4 and the clip always comes out missing the first 3 seconds or sometimes more of the video. which kind of defeats the purpose for me, since it's cutting my video short without my permission. Any Suggestions? thank you FYI it's a 6 second video all together and it basically cuts it in half and only gives me the later part of the video. Weirdly enough it still plays the audio for the beginning of the vid, but it doesn't show any film until 3 seconds in.

This is working for me - Open Adobe Media Encoder, in the media browser, find the files you're having trouble downloading from your DVD. Right click them and the select "Add Item to Queue". Now it will show a loading bar as it gradually loads the video file from the DVD into the app. (It might take a while for it to finish loading.) After it finishes loading, it will show a blue bar underneath the icon of that video file in the media browser, click & drag that video clip from the media browser into the folder you want to download it to. Hope that works for ya. I think Adobe Media Encoder ignores the errors and also seems to take its time loading up the files and then when you drag and drop it, it's already loaded into the app so it copies it quickly and correctly.

I have an issue with some video files I recorded with my GH5. When I go to play them it states: "Error-2041: an invalid sample description was found in the movie". Some people have suggested that it's a meta data issue with the files. Omg, it worked. I right clicked the Saved Project that Wondershare said was broken, opened with VLC, did as he said, then when I pressed play with VLC, it didn't work. When I right clicked again and pressed open with Wondershare it opened. This is awesome. Most videos advice never works for me. Glad this did. I am so happy. Thanks so much. I had video I filmed aboard the submarine Nautilus I didn't know any of the footage you got corrupted until after I finished making the video and by then I had already gotten rid of the original video files, the video is on RU-vid but the only portion of it that corrupted its what was actually filmed aboard the submarine but either way I don't know if there's a way to fix it or if it can be fixed now

Michael, I have another problem. I recorded some footage at a concert last night. Each segment is less than 5 minutes long. I am trying to upload to FB. It takes a little while but that is not the issue. When I go back to my gallery, the video won’t shut off. I have tried everything to turn it off. I was wondering if you had any input, I was on wondershare editing a montage and I had to add a voice over that I couldn’t do on wondershare and the app glitched so I saved the video to my files then restarted my PC, when I opened up wondershare again it said the file is corrupted and it won’t even let me click on it in my files, it didn’t save properly and I just spent 5 hours editing it. A few months ago my video files, regardless of whether they were saved to my laptop, or still on an external hard drive, or saved from my channel onto my installed "4k VIDEO DOWNLOADER" software, they are all playing off color and as if the zoom setting was as close as it could get. Earlier today I DID try the technique you suggested on VLC but it did not work. The one thing that I DID learn since this problem arose a while back is that when I pull up a video through VLC, it plays perfectly; the only issue is that I don't see a method in which I can transfer my clips from VLC to my editing software in order to create a YT video. I have yet to find any tutorials from someone who mention this type of issue. I am using WINDOWS 8.1 for now and am assuming that it is the media player but I am not certain. Regardless of the fact that I need to upgrade soon, I still need to find a remedy for this problem. I am hoping maybe you or any of the viewers can shed light on this for me. Thanks

Hi there! I have a video from a camera that lost power while recording, so the camera has the video saved as a .tmp. I tried renaming the file type from .tmp to .mp4 but it didn't work so something is wrong with the file. Any help with this would be great, thanks!

the recoverit software seems to have worked for the video, but in the preview the audio is messed up and only has audio in 1 second intervals. is this the preview doing that or is the audio still corrupted?

didn't work for me. used advanced added sample file and it "fixed" fast and file still dead. The camera when it actually died of bat said attempting to recover and a fail message saying corruptions so I think its broke... all i have when I test the file is loud static and fuzzy images

So, i have the problem that i used OBS recording software to record af conversation on mu desktop, at the compression was to MP4, they warned in the app, that if there would be some kind of issue with my PC, that would interrupt the recording, the MP4 file would become corrupted. I am now trying to fix the file, because it wont play. I have tried everything, VLC Player, Kernel Video Repair, Yodot MOV repair, and soon Wondershare Video Repair, but nothing seems to be working, that this clip is REALLY important to get fixed, so do you eventually know any other steps i can do to fix it? My problem is some of my MP4 files and any files I have recorded with OBS since this started. Don't have preview images with them. So I have no Idea what the recording is of, until I play it.

The video is almost fine, the problem is that my pc blue screened when i was recording and now when the video gets to the time i got the blue screen it makes the pc crash again and bluescreens me again

So, I got the Wondershare, and I got confused since you didn't tell us what to pick, the "Video repair" or the "Advanced Video Recovery" (Unless I didn't hear, stupid me) so I randomly and STUPIDLY picked "Advanced Video Recovery" and realized I picked THE WRONG ONE, now I exited out of "Advanced Video Recovery" and it said for me to wait patiently, it's been a day and it's still there, I really wanna fix my video, I'm desperate, what do I do? (I tried exiting out of it and pulling it open again but it still said it was still running and I couldn't do that)

It doesn't work for me whatsovever, even with advanced repair software. It keeps asking me to change the sample video, but no matter how many times I changed, it still didn't work

tried to recover corrupt file using the free version. it works fine but no audio. is that a limitation of free version? in other words, if i purchased the full version audio will recovers as well?

The shit he mentioned at the start didn't work, and I was skeptical about Recoverit, but it recovered my file and it was really easy. Cost $83 but I have a license for a year if this shit happens again

I downloaded the app, wonder share but there is no option for repairing files. Looks like its another editing software. Did I get the wrong app? coz the interface is difference from the one you're showing here. I was shooting using a Sony a7s camera and when I stopped the recording, I had a pop up on the screen asking to recover the information which I did. When bucking files for edit, the exact file which prompted the pop up isn't opening. Ive tried remaining the file to mov, avi, Mts you name. Ive even tried using vlc and am still coming out shot, if there is anyone who has had similar challenge please reach out and help. Thanks

Great thanx. VLC fixed my corrupted video file. Celluloid was saying: unrecognized file format. Not it's OK.

Covered an event, bucked everything and edited 90% of the work. Next thing I see is the folder with the work files is showing 4GB and not 89GB. Am confused I don’t even know what to search for. Is it broken files, corrupted files. I used a 1Dx ii (MOV) to shoot. Any help please, was suppose to meet the client a week ago and I’ve just been going round cycles hoping I’ll a solution to this.

Hi was filming on vacation with my gopro 7 black. Then i copeyed over to a USB storage. When i got home. Most of the storage has been broken. I tryed to use ure program on advanced it could not bring back our honeymon mp4 :(... the storage is there in the files 800 mb etc. but when press play nothing comes upp.

Hello man Im only using my phone and I have no windows to download these apps my problem is whenever I moved videos to my USB(through otg) the file always corrupts. I cant open it. The old one are working just fine but the recent videos I moved are the problem. My usb ain't like this yesterday thanks

GoPro makes videos corrupt if the battery runs out. So I tried this free program to save those videos, but not working. 😢
