Just subscribed and hit the bell notification in hopes of a dedicated compression video. This is one aspect of beat making that i don't fully understand and would love to expand my knowledge and advance my skills. Great content sir.
Great tutorial/demo/review! Your videos are clear and well thought out. Keep it up! Do you still have the Deluge? I'd love to see some more videos on that, if you're so inclined.
@@OllieLoops Thanks for the reply. Really, i just like to watch how others work with it. I'd say my weakest area is in audio tracks. There are already some good videos out there, including yours, but it just doesn't seem to stick with me. If you felt like doing more in that area, I'd definitely love it, but i totally get it if you don't feel like re-hashing what's already out there :)
Great review thanks. I’m layering sample and synths together by using an external sequencer deluge to trigger both the drumSynth and samples. Last night I tested if I could do it without an external sequencer, and it was possible, but I had to use a physical midi loop. Using a midi cable ‘out’ plugged back into the mpc midi ‘in’. I.e. Set up a midi program on the out and the drum and plugin program to the in all on the same channel. Don’t have the in set to master in the midi prefs or you get midi feedback... then transpose the notes so it all lines up together. This would be a lot more flexible if you can select the midi note used for each pad in the drumSynth
My ask of the drumSynth mpc team. Have midi routable internally, so a midi track can run other tracks (or something like that). And if the different drumSynths can be assigned different midi notes in a pad perform.
Thanks! Interesting test. Since you have the Deluge and MPC, you could also try to use the Deluge's multisample feature in combination with the drumsynth. Sequence it from your preferred sequencer. Then route audio to a mixer or back into the primary device. Have fun!
Great points! It would be cool to route midi to other tracks. I thought this was possible, but it couldn't find a way to do it. In the Drumsynth multiplug, different synth engines are on different notes, but I don't think you can play them chromatically, which is I think what you are looking to do. Since you can tune each synth engine, most sounds don't need to play chromatically, likely only the kick/sub. In that case, you can just load another track with a signal drumsynth kick instance and play it chromatically.
@@OllieLoops yep the advantages of the deluge for me are live sequencing and disk steaming, particularly multisamples. But the deluge is not so amazing for sample chopping and layering, compared to MPC and it only has two velocity or round robin layers compared to the MPC's four.
Thanks for letting us know that we can use 1 multi-kit & 7 single-kits. I thought that we could only use 1 multi-kit or 8 single kits - Bro, you just opened a whole new way for use the Force! I also like your recommendation but I did feel like your breakdown of the transient section was to simple...like what do they mean by shape?, but I just mess with it til I like it so no worries. Anyway I hope #akai will add the things you wanted, but you can add your own samples by combining the DrumSynth with a Drum program, not as easy the way you said it so I still hope they add it. & Yes, I would like you to make that compressor video.
So the only way to mute a multisample element (ie a kick or a hihat) would be to "bounce to sample" and then treat the 8 separate drum samples the traditional way?
I need timestamps to have ch after download (Txt insert with program Losslesscut editor) chapters 0:00 ch1 2:12 ch2 0:24 ch3 1:36 ch4 8:35 ch5 12:49 ch6 13:50 ch7
Great tutorial! Subbed. Any idea when I bounce a plugin program (or even just a drum program) to sample, it processes it but in the Sample Edit page it's just an empty sample? It's there properly titled and can even be played, but it's just an empty, silent sample.
What I want to know is can you run these 8 plugins along with other plugins because I read that the MPC have a limit to 8 plugins at once. Anyone know?
Hi Ollie. Love your videos. Great help. I have a question for you about midi mapping. I do live set with MPC Live. Each sequence is a song. I try to integrate the new drum plug in multi mode. Which will give me more plug in available for bass and synth. Not using a track/plug in for kick, another one for snare... my problem, I cannot find for midimap the parameter which manage individual gain/volume for each 8 drum part. I have all the others parameters I want working perfectly. But not one dealing with individual volume. Do you have a solution? Is it a bug ? Thx for your help.
@@OllieLoops Thx Ollie. I tried everything the last days. but didn't found a solution to use 8 individual volumes with midimix faders in drum multi mode. Just using mute but it's not the same. which is crazy because you have the option in the mode: 1plugin for one drum part. but you go back with 8 plugin limitation. So for live performance the multi drum on 1 plugin is not optimized without this option.
@@OllieLoops Just Bassline, Electric & Tubesynth... I think something be wrong with the updater because I've updated the firmware 3 times lol It went through successfully but nothing changed.
@@OllieLoops So now it updated! before the firmware wouldn't update it'd just stay at 2.8. I turned my mpc on and off after the update and it worked lol! thank you for the help!!!
