Thanks for the kind words. I agree. It would be challenging for a kid, but if you know what you're in for, it's definitely still a good kit. Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year 😀

I agree 100%, many people are probably just saying, to hell with this and going out and buying diecast cars instead. I have bought a few myself and although many look really cool, they do nothing to stimulate one's imagination, develop problem solving skills and lastly, there is no sense of satisfaction pulling a ready made car out of it;s box and putting it on your shelf, anyone can do that. You also sadly have video games to compete with, and unfortunately more often than not, model building will probably lose that contest in this day and age. So glad to have grown up predominantly in the 70's and 80's. God bless one and all and have a Happy and Prosperous 2024.

I couldn't agree with you more. With all of the modern distractions and the unhealthy need for instant gratification, this hobby may have some uphill battles moving forward. That's why it's important to me to share all aspects and benefits of building scale models. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great week, and Happy New Year 😀

I want to pick up a couple of these for my stash, there are some really neat parts in there. 3:30 I sense foreshadowing.... Those old rail kits were hard to get right even when the molds were new. I don't think I have ever built one that didn't take a good bit of work to get it to sit right. I knew you were going to have fitment problems when you added the tabs inside the body as well, the chassis barely fits in there as it is. Household bleach strips chrome off in seconds and is less caustic. Not a criticism, just a tip. It turned out pretty good for your first dragster though. 👍👍
@PlasticImaginationWorkshop

Yes, there are a few good parts, and it is great for kit bashing. I only wish that it was my first dragster. 😃 I have built them in the past, but this was .y first in a few decades. Thanks for watching, and have a great weekend. Happy New Year, too.

Nothing wrong with the molds contrary to popular belief spewed out by unenlightened You tube model channels, the Flash is a result of using cheaper plastic that melts ultra thin and finds every gap in the molds. Plastic does not wear out metal molds like folks want to believe. Originally flash was the result of uneven heated plastic because the technology was not yet perfected (Still isn't), the hotter plastic being thinner would hit the edges and run a bit, where the cooler plastic filled in behind, this resulted in wavy flat parts as well.
@PlasticImaginationWorkshop
@PlasticImaginationWorkshop 7 месяцев назад
Wow, that is some great information. Thanks for sharing. I always thought the molds warped or changed over time due to the constant changes in temperature. Thanks for sharing, I always enjoy learning something new.

As a long time plastic modeler , ( started in 1958 ) and drag racing fan , ( attended my first my first NHRA Winternationals in 1964 ) , I can say that there are two types of models that almost NOBODY gets right . They are 1. Top fuel dragsters and 2. Harley Davidson chopper motorcycles . Without going through a week long dissertation and 500 pages of dialogue on this subject , the bottom line is that the lack of thorough understanding of the subject matter by the modelers and kit manufacturers and the inaccuracies of the kits produced results in a model that , even if built perfectly , will not produce an accurate replica of the original subject . Accurate dragster models can be made , if you are willing to throw a large percentage of the kit parts in the dumpster and scratch build , fix , tweek or find aftermarket parts to replace them . Most modelers do not have the knowledge of the subject , the modeling skills , or the dogged determination to overcome these obstacles to produce an accurate Top Fuel car or chopper , nor should they have to . With the technology we have today , producing an stunningly accurate and beautiful model , right out of the box is very doable . 😎👍

Thanks for the comment 👍 I totally agree with you on every point. I could have spent a lot more time and energy on this kit, but my goal wasn't to produce an award winning, accurate, super detailed build. With the exception of a few minor modifications, it's basically built as it was intended. I wanted to showcase the model as is, so anyone looking to build it knows what to expect. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great week. 👍

Hey, I'm not going to roast you with any coment, as I consider it's hard to keep geometry in scale models in general. My sensei Chris with hpi guys is also an experimented car builder and also had similar situations with this kit. I really enjoy correcting issues derived from assembly. This lil one is narrow and long. Thermal issues might affect, and styrene is a thermoplastic treacherous material. So, don't get worried. I just bought one of these just an hour or so in an online store here in Mexico. I'm getting ready to receive mine, so I'll watch more videos. Next coming up is "right on replicas." I enjoyed the video so much that I subscribed myself. Kudos and greetings from Mexico. Felices fiestas!

For years North American model companies tried various kits and ways to get people/ kids re- interested in car models after it's peek in the late 60's early 70's. It never really seemed to work, so someone came up with "nostalgia". How can you not love the old kits? The original box art reminds those of us who were around back then how cool models are. Throw in a few extras like new tires and decals and us old guys seem to love it. Problem is most of these car kits were not that great then, and the re-releases are not that great now. And as for bringing new people/kids into the hobby, I think these old kits may actually work to keep them away. As stated, these kits are not always that easy to build. And if something requires work that can sometimes be hard, messy and needs patience, sadly some don't seem to be interested. Also, the cost can be too much when you throw in paint and supplies for many beginners or parents to want to spend. We used to pay $2.49 or less per kit, remember? And paint was $0.25 a bottle. To set up someone with a kit and supplies can today run over $50.00 easy. I myself am very happy to see most of the old kits return, but I worry that once the last of us old school car builders can't build anymore, the model car hobby may stall out and die like so many other hobbies have.

Well said, Sir. Don't get em wrong, I do love these old kits, lots of fond memories for me as well. I also agree with you, once us older folks can't build any more, it may fizzle out again. That said, I'm doing everything I can to promote and share the hobby with the younger generations out there. Hopefully, it will catch on. Have a great week and thanks for watching and sharing.

Thanks! BTW, I meant to put in how much I liked your vid. Please keep up the great job your doing. I wish I could say better things, but as someone who has been doing this almost all my life (over 55 years of modeling by now) I do worry about the hobby. I also build armor, and that part of modelling seems to be going full bore, but again, not with the kids it seems. Modeling was king when I was young, but now the young just don't seem interested. This hobby also took me into other hobbies as well. My love of cars turned into the 1/1 scale world of restoring old Mopars ( My current driver is a 1964 Dodge 440 hard top/ 426 Max Wedge, with other projects on the go). My skills as a modeler have worked well with 1/1 scale, and with other areas of my life. I guess I lament that others won't get the kind of enjoyment that as modelers, we all feel. There's also the other aspect. We just lost another great hobby shop up here last week, which makes about 6 or so in the last few years. I knew all the owners and employees personally, so it hurt to see them go. We have 2 very good shops left, but both the owners are near my age or older than me, and they want to retire at some point soon. Then what? On line shopping will never be a replacement for walking into a well stocked shop, meeting some of your friends, and enjoying a few hours lost in time.
@PlasticImaginationWorkshop
@PlasticImaginationWorkshop 5 месяцев назад
Thanks. And yeah, I hear you. Only one "real" hobby shop left here where I live, and I know the owner wants to sell. Fortunately, he will only sell to someone who will keep it open. Sounds like you're 1/1 is pretty sweet. I've had several of those 1/1 projects, and yes, I owe a lot of it to growing up building scale models. Thanks again for watching. Have a great weekend 👍

To paint the body properly, cant you build and paint the chassis first, paint the inside of the body, glue it around the frame, sand out the seam lines, and just mask off the chassis when you paint it?

@@PlasticImaginationWorkshop Would it make you feel better if Round 2 put a warning sticker on the box? I bet it would. I've been building almost 50 years now and these old MPC kits are how I learned how to build and kitbash. That's when a real modeler throws away the instructions and opens the parts box. Instead of talking about how bad this old kit is, maybe you should have talked more about how it's a trip back to the past... and spent more time removing the flash... you are the 'fail' , not the kit and definitely not Round 2...
