I have always refused to feel that any music that I have loved is ever too 'out of date', too weird, too soppy, too old, for if I have loved it and lived in it, then it is a part of my soul too. Heavy string background music may be out of style but I shall never be unfaithful to it, as follows for the clarinet sounds of Acker Bilk. I have ,many times, experienced loneliness in my life ( now almost 72) and there is no doubt that is one of the reasons that I am attracted to sounds which speak to my soul and why I still have all the music of my life in recordings. Acker, you will never be far from many of us for as long as we live.
