The 05 movie was itself based on the 96 tv series. This show is gonna be more closely based on the original tv series

First let me say I’m a huge fan of Donald Glover, from Community to Atlanta as well as his music. As creative and original as he is I knew this project wasn’t going to be a carbon copy of the original 2005 movie. The fact that it’s starting out as an eight episode season is exciting and I like the mix between action, romance and obviously the comedy parts from Glover and Erskine. Glover himself said this is nothing like the movie and I have to agree it’s something totally different and I’m all for it.
