I'm closer to Destiny in the Trans debate. They deserve respect, deserve to exist, but shouldn't be dominating female sports, shouldn't be talked about like it's cool to pretend to be Trans, and making up words are purely attention seeking

as you would say hot take but as a trans person i feel like alot of these online transpeople want to be trans just to be marginalized for me im the second group destiny mentioned tbh when i was told i was a girl at a young age i was torn apart. but some of these people want to have a reason to bitch tbh. i dont want to be trans its not something i choose. but when i finally decided to transition and joined some of these groups id see people saying things like what made you chose to be trans" that shit honestly turned my stomach. this isnt a choice why would you choose this sad life full of confusion

Kudos for the Beard guy for attempting the conversation. But he's white knighting too much, and comes across as a religious person holding too tight to idealism and not placing 2 feet strongly in reality. He may want to be careful as that will make him look untrustworthy and reactionary (we know the dangers of the "male feminists"). While I'm older, and don't use this language at all, I don't have the expectation that everyone would follow that same philosophy, nor is it my place to police others in any place other than my own spaces and places. Age and experience gives you more tools to handle a variety of scenarios and you've had more reality checks, challenging your idealism.

Ryan just ran out of token ally phrases, and didn’t want to agree. He needs to really understand something before “debating” someone.

i don't know the context of the tweet, so i could be off base here, but doesn't Mr. Beard initially coming up with the idea that the word sub-human is transphobic shows his subconscious bias that that's how he sees transgender people? it seem incredibly transphobic to just say that's a transphobic slur, unless you have some implicit bias that that's what you think internally.

I watched this live and it was amazing. I am kind of bitter I only found out about Destiny around the Rittenhouse verdict because his way of thought mirrors my own to an astonishing degree. And not capitulation to every demand of the trans extremists does not make you tranphobic. ETA: The swirl means interracial dating, specifically black and white IIRC.

Never really listened to Destiny. But he's thought things through. I think it's a good theory, that some of this is socially constructed. I strongly believe the poor conversations and poor takes are causing gender dysphoria/body dysmorphia and confusing many young people. Some legit, a lot just awkward self-exploration and placing a label on it for attention or they think that's what society tells them they are.

Even you misunderstood Destiny's statement "if the online activist trans community was representative of all trans people, I would be transphobic". Destiny isn't arguing that those people have a low bar for what is considered transphobia, so he would be labeled as such. His point is that if ALL trans people were like the crazy online activist ones, that would be an actually horrible group of people for society because of the amount of damage they would try to inflict. And that it would make sense to be fearful of that group, in the same way someone could be Naziphobic today. However, Destiny always pulls it back to the point that most trans people are much more chill than the online Twitter activists and just want to be given basic human rights and respect, not to force every single person on Earth to share every single one of their opinions or be banished from society. So he's always trying to remind people of that.

I asked my best friend who was born a male and knew at 4 that she wanted to be female. I’ve known her as a young boy transitioning into a woman. She identifies as a transgender woman. She told me she dislikes the term “non-binary” and that people that identify as that are NOT transgender.

After doing my own research on what the word "subhuman" originally meant and how it was used, I'm bringing some of that to you: Definition of subhuman : less than human: such as a: failing to attain the level (as of morality or intelligence) associated with normal human beings b: unsuitable to or unfit for human beings First Known Use of subhuman: Adjective - 1790 Noun - circa 1812 Now, this next part is just my opinion. If you disagree that's up to you. If you feel like you need to write an essay to argue why I'm wrong or. . .subhuman, idgaf and I'm not going to reply. This is just a friendly little disclaimer so you don't waste your time. My opinion: The definition isn't racist. However, upon doing some searching a lot of racist groups appear to use this term, so I can understand why people would have a negative view of it. I personally think there are way better and far more fun words to use when insulting people, so I wouldn't even bother with this one.

I always thought "subhuman" was specifically meant to be a slur towards ppls identities also. I think once you realize not everyone uses it that way, its a little ridiculous to keep insisting thats what they meant. If its not use the same regionally, its just not.

while i agree with destiny more, i understand where ryan is coming from- but i think his argument would have been stronger had he said we shouldn’t use the insult “subhuman” against minorities… and i think his hearts in the right place, and that’s what he actually feels.

I feel like there is a thing that is missing from the whole "Destiny and the trans" debate. He supports trans people and has pushed for transrights for a very long time. But his behaviour (like making 41 jokes, encouraging the harassment of a lot of trans creators, etc.) encourages transphobia, or atleast doesn't hinder transphobia, in his community. I don't think that Destiny is transphobic, but he behaves like one sometimes.
