You are one of the best EDM producers out there. I love your work tremendously. Also, trying to come from a life of Reason to Ableton is not ...easy. But I'm trying thanks to your tutorials! Cheers
go to the synth and turn amp sustain to the max. Also google adsr tutorial to learn what envelope generators are. Some other basic stuff to search for tutorials are Lfo ,low cut filter ,High cut filter ,bandpass filter , filter order, routing matrix. sound oscillator,Subtractive synthesis basics tutorial
OMG seeing you do this, i now just get it, no matter the programn i dont know why all my psy trance bass lines just sounded off but now i think i got it .
I can help you out here had to figure out the same problem :) go to the analog and the click on amp 1 there you put the decay time up on the envelope and then the note plays through the hole section cheers
Thanks Mr Bill, rare thing good producers making tutorials for free!! Can I replace the ableton's autopan and the ableton's filter to the soundtoy's plugins to make this in another daw?
Something's funky when I try to get my white noise to happen continuously. It only lasts about two beats and then fades out, even though I've got one long note attached to the midi clip. How can I fix that? I've gone over it like twelve times and made sure everything was done in the same manner, but nothing seems to work. :/
Great tutorial, big help. The only thing I was having trouble with is that final analog uplifter. I had everything set the way you had, however, the note only made a sound for a quarter note although I had it spread to two bars... any suggestions?
Can't believe nobody has answered this in three years but I had the same issue and just figured it out. Don't drag the midi note across all three beats; instead draw one 16th note and hit cmd D twice to duplicate it.
Nope, that way it would play multiple hits after each other and not one continous. What you have to do is change the amp envelope of the Oscillator. Just put the sustain to the max and it will never stop playing that note as long as it gets midi information.
You need to do 2 (edit: possibly 3) things: 1. Go to the LFO section and make sure the rate for LFO1 knob is not zero (he starts with it at 1.1Hz) - this will add the wobble (if you don't do this you'll end up with a flat note) 2. Go to Osc1 (i.e. the first section) and automate LFO1 parameter, as shown in the video (again, if you don't do this you'll have a flat note) He actually ends up automating both the LFO1 knob and the LFO1 parameter - I'm guessing the parameter is what allows the LFO 'signal' through, and the knob is what increases the speed. Hope this helps - it's certainly working for me. EDIT: If your note isn't sustaining long enough then you may need to do that 3rd thing, which is to mess with your sustain parameter.
Hey Mr Bill, could you help me out? For some reason when I used analog white noise and have a single note playing through analog I only get the sound to play for about 1/4 note, unlike your white noise which plays throughout the 4 measures. I put a verb on a it with a 15s decay time, but how do I fix this? Do you know? Thanks
mr bill my also want to make psy trance music and i have a question am new in this world of music and i want to know witch plugins are good for start and have u any recommends for me ? Thanks and great tutorial =)
Please, Somebody answer ! "when i place the analog note on the grid,it just plays one hit and not continuously like yours in the vid..why is that so??"- KO Ntos
You've probably worked it out by now, but if you click on amp1 and turn the sustain up full your white noise will hold for as long as a midi note is playing.
