I saw Sammy Davis Jr perform this in Indianapolis back in the seventies .. I also named my little cockapoo Bojangles who was by my side for 16 years .. I Miss Sammy and my Mr. Bojangles ..
Such a beautiful song, written by a beautiful man, sung here by another beautiful man, both with beautiful minds. I have just taught a guitar version of this song to some young people of today and they love it too. At times, the world is a wonderful place.
Dancing the Dream✨ with Mr Bill « BoJangles » Robinson, and all the greatest after him. that song is beautiful thank you Mr Sammy Davis Junior . Gone too soon
What has charlie Chaplin got to do with Bojanles.....Bill "Bojangles" Robinson (May 25, 1878 - November 25, 1949) was an American tap dancer and actor, the best known and most highly paid black American entertainer in America during the first half of the twentieth century. His long career mirrored changes in American entertainment tastes and technology.
Thanks for this wonderful video. Such a great voice, combined with all those great other artists of the past. They will never be forgotten. A lovely dedication, too. Very touching
Just absolutely beautiful. But Jerry Jeff Walkers song is not about Bill Robinson. It’s unknown the real name of the man in his cell in New Orleans! He went by Mr Bojangles!
Was " Mr. Bojangles ", the older black man, that appeared with the CUTIST of the CUTIST, Shirley Temple , Dancing together on the stairs ? A WONDERFUL performance , an all time Classic. Props to Steve.
No, Bojangles is a term for a tap dancer kinda slang. Jerry James walker wrote the song in 1968 about a white man ( not that it matters)he met in jail in new Orleans. Sammy made it his own tho, no one does it better.
Exactly Shannon, most people think it is about Bill Robinson, but as u stated.. it was written about an old white drunk he met in Jail.. I fell in love with nitty gritty dirt band version but after discovering sammys years it is his.. thank you for your knowledge 😀
Thank you. 🙄 In various videos across RU-vid ppl are working overtime to “correct” the idea this song is not in the spirit of Bill Robinson or other like him who was talented but struggled internally with substances and the changing of times. Which is further erasure of their stories.
CHARLES CHAPLIN FOI FANTÁSTICO MAS NÃO TEM NADA A VER COM ESTE VIDEO OU MESMO O TEMA DA MÚSICA ! MR BOJANGLES FOI O MAIOR SAPATEADOR QUE OS EUA JÁ PRODUZIU ! NADA A VER COM CHAPLIN !!! ???
