Mr Bungle is WAAAAY more than Patton. Trey Spruance, Trevor Dunne, Danny Heifetz, Bar McKinnon, Kevin Kmetz etc. they all have equal input bro but I get that you’re on the Patton journey and I really like your reactions 🤙

If you like this one you should probably listen to some Secret Chiefs 3 (which is basically Bungle without Mike Patton)

Saw secret chiefs play Adelaide Uni bar...best percussion Ive ever seen...loved how one minute it was 60s surf music...next thing it was like sitting on a pyramid in the setting sun...then it was a kicking rave...man! Awesome.

Right on! :) So, this song is basically Secret Chiefs 3 (which is an instrumental, Middle Eastern music project by guitarist of Mr. Bungle -without Patton!) , but in this case, since it`s Mr.Bungle - with Patton, hahah .:)) Now, figure it out.:)) But, the mental plan of this song is so huge! Now, how come? Well, to correct you in just a few of your statements, Mr.B is - not just Patton! It`s the whole damn crew!...:)) They are all little geniuses, mixed into a bundle of intertwined and undefined synergies, which is the main goal of their original music making. :) In this case, the role of the main archer of this song actually belongs to the guitarist. ;) He's their `read guy`, remember? Philosophy, old and modern, and those things ... :) So, it happened that Trey put his fingers on a modern book that`s called: ‘Scandal-Essays in Islamic Heresy’ by Peter Lamborn.... I'll give you just one insight into the meaning of the quotation from the verses, but also from the book, is crazy - it`s in Arabic...and it goes like this: "Qiyamat qiyamat a tawil', qiyamat insan al kamel..." Now, check this out: "“Qiyamat a tawil'” and “Qiyamat insan al kamel” translate roughly to “the great resurrection of the beginning” and “the great resurrection of the perfect man.”The Qiyamat was, or is a powerful proclamation, a doctrine. It was proclaimed in 1164 AD by Hassan i Sabbah. It was an invitation to ‘participate in the pleasures of paradise on Earth.’ Quoting Wilson… ‘Qiyamat remains as a state of consciousness which anyone can adhere to or enter, a garden without walls, a sect without a church, a lost monument of Islamic history that refuses to be forgotten, standing outside time, a reproach or challenge to all legalism and moralism, to all the cruelty of the exoteric. An invitation to paradise.’ The actual definition is ‘The great resurrection …it’s about breaking the chains of law.’ The concept of Qiyamat is much more involved than this and I’d recommend the book! Ta'wil is the concept that Ismaili mysticism is based on. Ta'wil actually means ‘to take something back to its original or deepest significance.’" Now, the musical context illustrates this philosophy ... :) The most original, deepest meaning is symbolized by the Arabic musical scale ...;) It is a mystical basis ... Like Patton's shout, almost from the movie "Lawrence of Arabia" from the 60's, isn't it not? :)) And the experiment with techno-sound symbolizes the future of humanity. The future platform, the contemporary aspect of this philosophical practice ... :) As you can see, it's not just Patton, it's a push of engaged brains ... :) Sorry if I took up too much of your time, but this is somehow the visualized core of the Bungle- musical treat. :) Tnx, and enjoy!:) Hi, Roxanne! :)))

Well that kinda went better than I thought!!! This is my favourite song off Disco Volante and I remember this being the first song on the album that I fell in love with and it took a while to actually hear the song for what it is, I put it on repeat until I loved it and did the same with every song from the album. Disco Volante is Bungle's most hard to digest album so I think you did a great job, I didn't even like it on first hearing lol but like l always say the more you listen to these songs the more you will hear and will get easier on your ears 😎 Thank you for your reaction ❤️

yeah they incorporated the mid 90s 'dark techno" ironically (like they do with all musical styles) probably just to see how it would turn out meshing two completely different worlds at the time. On the topic of electronic music, tho, yeah i think the mindset to take is just that studio production using electronic based sonic layers and rhythms are just another set of instruments and the producers are different kind of artists. There are great examples out there where the electronic and live insutrmentation go together really well. The best example I can think of since I know you're all in for a tasty groove would be to check out Smartbomb by BT (original mix). you won't be sorry

It's like the old AM/PM commercials: "Too much good stuff." Jay, it may help to think of the less "cohesive" elements of their songs as part of the push-pull that makes the hookier parts even more attractive to the ear...you go through the tougher stuff & then all of a sudden here's this huge hook, & it serves as a massive release. At least that's how it works for me. There's such a think as overdoing the aurally pleasing stuff...it wears it out (& it's why I stopped listening to Pearl Jam for 20 yrs).
