Mr. Coffee Maker Review - WARNING!! 

I’ve had one for almost ten years. Best coffee maker I’ve ever owned. My sister stayed with me a couple of days, and loved it. I gave her one for Christmas three years ago, no problems. My brother-in-law wishes it was a twelve cup instead of ten, but other than that, he loves it. Any thing made by man is subject to having a lemon now and again. Living in the twenty first century, most of my purchases are made through Amazon, which negates the need of keeping receipts. Anything I buy elsewhere, the receipt is filed away. IMHO, this is the best coffee maker out there. Without a receipt, for all the manufacturer knows, you bought it in a yard sale.

I have to say that this is my second coffee maker from Mr coffee with the same exact style. I love it. I have been very lucky I had no problems with either coffee maker. I love this style and it keeps my coffee very hot.

I've had one for about 2 years and had no issues. I bought it because it brews 'hotter' coffee and the thermos carafe doesn't burn after sitting for awhile and you can take your brew in the truck when you go fishing. Sucks you had a bad experience, but I love mine. Cheers.

Too late, just bought one for my G on Amazon, delivery is today. Now that I've seen ur review, I'm giving her the new one and my old Mr. Coffee my ex used for 2 yrs flawlessly JIC..Keep u posted.

The problem I now have with Mr Coffee 12 cup is that the tank that holds water is not one continuous molded piece, but several pieces that connect and are supposed to not leak.

Thanks for this review,I bought an Oster one which is just a rebrand of mrcoffee. Mine just stopped working today after around 8 months too but it just constantly flashes and rings

I have had one of these for several years and I love it. The coffee stays warm in the stainless carafe without getting that burned flavor from having a heating element under the pot. HOWEVER, now the water tank is leaking from the bottom. I'm sure it's just that the little silicone gasket needs to be replaced, but I can't find one ANYWHERE! Come on, Mr. Coffee, you can do better! I won't buy another one of their products knowing I can't find a very simple replacement part. So wasteful!

Believe it or not, I was able to fix that leak by making a rubber gasket from an old inner tube and adding it onto the crappy plastic one where the water drains out under the water reservoir. However, I was not able to fix the leaking carafe! If I could replace the gasket/ring that fits onto the metal opening, (you have to take the plastic spout/handle off first), that might do the trick. This gasket is not available as a replacement part, though! I will have to check the plug, as you said, because I have another coffee pot of the same model that I picked up at a thrift shop, and it doesn't leak at all! So, yes. Buyer beware!

I've had two of these and the screens are a problem, they do fade over time. I never had the problems you had with the dead buttons and leakage, just the fading display. It makes decent coffee. I bought mine on Amazon so receipts are always available.

I bought mine about 5 years ago, looks identical. It came with permanent filter basket as well as temp flat round filter which I used until time to buy a new one, and have been brewing without ever since. I have never had any problems and I make minimum of 2 pots per day (2×365×5 years= A LOT) My only question is what is the beep for two hours after brewing?. It sounds to me like the company has since started to cut corners and in doing so they turned a good reliable product into a lemon! SHAME on corporate bottom line greed!

I must be one of the lucky ones. I've been using the same machine almost daily for almost 2 years and zero issues. I don't bother using the water filter disc, I just use pretty much any non-stop water or my Brita pitcher with carbon filter. Sorry you guys didn't have a good experience with yours.

I have two keurigs and I like them, but I needed something to make at least 12 cups of coffee for the whole day, so I got mr coffee 12 cups. For the price I paid for it I have no complains. It does what it needs to do, make coffee. The flavor of the coffee is 70 to 80 percent on the quality of grain you use. Despite me coming from a family of big time coffee drinkers and having been drinking coffee my whole life, I don’t consider myself a “connoisseur”, but this machine is not as bad as it is depicted here. I mean for the price you pay, you shouldn’t be expecting it to be better than a Keurig.

Unfortunately companies here in USA are making products overseas that are being sold separate from warranty. I always save my receipts, never buy fancy coffee makers and never pay for warranties. I do like to tinker with these things and most of the time a quick fix with a few minutes and a couple of dollars. Thanks for your video, you reinforced my way of thinking once more.

I've had different problems with mine; The first is that the calcium buildup is nye on impossible to remove even with using normal cleaning methods making the coffee taste really weird. The second is that it doesn't take all the water from the reservoir, it always leaves a couple ounces of water and even of the water it takes not all of it goes through. It seems to be leaking somewhere in the machine, because anytime I have moved it it'll start gushing water from the most random places.

Less than 3 months of use. Loved it until it stopped brewing. A really nice concept, layout, and look, and coffee tasted great, as long as it worked. If I produced this kind of product in my business, I would have been out of business 40 years ago. Had our cuisinart for over 10 years with no px. Oh, and the carafe does not come close the cuisinart for keeping the coffe hot. Not that it matters any more, since it doesnt make coffee. I am going to try a diy solution and see what I come up with just for kicks.

I bought this coffee maker to replace a five year old $20 Mr Coffee unit (that worked perfectly fine, but was ugly). The reason I am here is because... well... I want to like it, but it just keeps telling me I made a mistake. I like the look, the insulated carafe and the stainless steel. But that's where it ends. I have not had the problems Luke has had--I guess I will just have to wait a short while. But the reality is, it sacrifices a good cup of coffee for speed. I am no dark coffee drinker, but the coffee comes out like water. So you say, "add more grounds, dummy!" Yeah well, I may be a dummy, but I tried that. In fact, I went to the manual and followed the directions PRECISELY. Well, I figured all along I was being stupid because there were grounds in my coffee and the pre-ground Dunkin' blend was still very weak. So I bought a metal filter. Bigger mistake. The pre-measured amount as directed by the manual had at least one cup of (weak) coffee all over my counter top and onto the floor. Quite simply, this unit adds hot water too fast to the grounds in their high tech seeping process. Whatever. This thing sucks.

Run vinegar through it monthly (more often if the water in your area is hard; and remove the filter that comes with it and just used paper filters. My first one lasted eight years before it started leaking water from the resevoir.

I loved this coffee maker. I'm here looking for a remedy. After about a year, mine isn't brewing all of the water from the reservoir.

At least yours worked for months, I got mine for Christmas and the coffee is not hot at all! It's warm and cools off really quick! I'm thinking of returning it!

I bought this machine and experienced the same thing. The machine began to leak after a few brews and became unusable. Definitely not worth the money!

I've recently started noticing that it wasn't making full cups of coffee. I removed the reservoir and saw that water has been leaking right under it. Anyone else have this issue?

for me, after only having it 2 weeks, the function that doesn't allow you to make another pot of coffee until 15 minutes pass seems to have malfunctioned and is permanent. Instead of brewing a cup, it just beeps at me and it's been hours.

I found this vid while looking for a vid on how to clean my coffee maker...looks like the guy just got a defective unit, it can happen to anyone...i've had the same coffee maker for at least 5 years now (maybe longer), purchased from my local Target for $60 or so...it's worked flawlessly and makes a real good pot of coffee...

We had ours for a little less than 2 years when it started leaking water from underneath. The guy who had his 10+ years - my guess is they've started using cheaper materials since then. We'll probably buy a Bunn next time.

I have this exact one and right now it constantly beeps with the white light flashing, controls won't work. I have to unplug it for like 5min. the re-plug it and make coffee. This all started after it's last cleaning.....it's going to the dump. I've had it less than a year, didn't like the thermal pot because it doesn't keep the coffee hot for long. Mr Coffee hit a foul ball on this one.........I won't miss it at all. P.U...

I still have the exact same one and never had an issue with it.

the oster looks very much like the mr coffee. im sure they are both made on the same line. i just bought it but thankfully it wasnt to expensive. after it dies i will replace it and watch reviews before my next purchase

Ive had this for 6 years and run it 1-2 times per day, every day. No issues. But yeah, stuff is made to break these days. Replaceable crap, doesn't matter the brand.

there will always be defective units in a given lot, that's why it is always best to keep the original receipt with the warranty card just in case something happens within the warranty period.

I have had mine for only 6 mo and it worked fine every day until this week. Now when you hit brew there is an immediate high pitched whistle coming from the machine and the brew cycle doesn't start. The brew button light flashes on and off. No water flows and there is no indication water is even heating. It just whistles extremely load.

I had the sane problem with the 12 cup rapid brew model. I bought one lasted a couple of years, started to leak. The technician could not fix it, so I bought another and the week after started to leak. Never again I will buy this brand .

I have learned over the years to save my receipts, its to frustrating otherwise.

Have the same unit......POS leaks coffee all over! And the carafes design stinks it pours coffee all over. Junk!

Not only do u have to save any warranty related reciepts, the reciepts will fade away making them useless...So photocopy every warranty reciept and staple the copy to it...Even if its unreadable, it is the original with a copy to proove details....Thermal reciepts dissappear in a few months, saving companys millions in warranty repairs refused👎👎👎😤😤

Had the same one. Display went out to become so faint you can’t read the time. Then it stops working all together. Steam would leak at the top and drips in mere drops. Tossed it for trash and bought a new one. Second one went out too. When pressing brew it does not go anything. Piece of trash. Stay away.

Just buy a $20 Hamilton Beach coffee maker, and you will never have to worry about customers service.

My wife just asked me if I use the coffee maker this morning and I told her “I had “she goes on to tell me how she found little worms in the water underneath the reservoir. Underneath the reservoir, water sits and stagnates. There is no good way to clean it out. After Googling it I found, it is not just this coffee maker (MR Coffee BVMC-PSTX95GTF) but lots of them, especially single serve ones that are a breeding ground for all kinds of germs and bacteria.

After about 10 months of use, I’ve been having a problem with the water going into the filter basket and over flowing over the paper filter and coffee grounds and hot water going out all over the counter and onto our oak floor, causing the floor to warp! Really pissing us off!!!

But did you pay by CREDIT or DEBIT CARD? Paper trail.

Maybe you just got a defective coffee maker and not all of them are like that? Hey listen, I do appreciate this review and the time you took to make it :) i’m just saying not everything is perfect and there will be defective units.

Didn't save receipt so it's their fault thats real entitlement for you f. Y. I.. scar your receipts it all the manufacturer has to prove you are under warrantee and fill out those warrantee cards oh and I doubt that they treated him badly they just couldn't help him

Not fair on your part. You should take this down and only post when you have a reasonable complaint. They can't warranty a product without date of purchase. End of story. That is not bad customer service at all. Also, a machine failing is also something that can happen with any product. Let's see if you can be fair and take this down. THROW YOUR RECEIPTS AND BOOKLETS IN ONE CONTAINER FOR PRODUCTS, AND YOU'RE GOOD.
