This is one of my favorite solos to play and I wanted to share it with you guys and pay tribute to the double O.This solo is also #17 in the Gibson.com Top 50 guitars solos of all time!!
It's great that he's in Judas Priest now.. but I've always thought he'd be the perfect guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne. That badass style, shredding and tone is just too good and does some justification to Randy.
Heard lots of people playing Randy's solo, but this is the first time I've heard someone make it their own with such feel, heart, soul, and technical prowess. AWESOME!!!
Michael Z Martin I never liked those two very much, especially Vai. And Lynch and other such mid-to-late 80's Glam/Pop Metal players used too much legato and too much digital delay and chorus, and were lacking a raw edge, attitude, and balls. I prefer raw 70's-style Hard Rock guitarists such as Angus Young and Ted Nugent and early 80's Metal players like Glenn Tipton/KK Downing and Dave Murray/Adrian Smith. And of course, Iommi Schenker, and Rhoads are gods. After Yngwie hit the scene in the mid-80's, many Hard Rock/Metal guitar players became obsessed with speed and technique as opposed to feeling and style. That's when it all started going downhill. So I salute Grunge for going against the grain and getting Rock and Metal fans and guitarists back into simple raw passionate emotive playing as opposed to of stiff boring overly-technical shredding.
Pretty sick Richie. It's no wonder that Judas Priest wanted you as the replacement for KK. You are right up there along with Zakk, Nuno, Gilbert, and all the greats!
@@nobleeffort2.4 Yes that's always true. Same as Adrian or Dave's replacements or Phil Rudd when he left ACDC for a while. And so on. The original guys in legendary bands always had their original signature stamp and sound that made the bands who they were. We are forever grateful for what they gave us and also happy that they weren't replaced with hacks like Gilby Clark or dudes who suck. Richie is a stellar choice. He'll never gel with the same chemistry with Glenn like KK did but I'm thankful he is the one that was given the torch to carry on
This is a great example of how his solo's turn into mindblowing riffs on their own. One of the only guitar players I know who sound like they play a song within a song.
I must say, he did an awesome job at the Epitaph concert, it almost seemed like he'd always been a part of the band! A lot of energy combined with flawless playing and a great personality makes him a worthy successor to KK :)
I was just searching for covers of this amazing solo and was like "Wow such a good cover" then I read the comments and this guy is the new lead guitarist of Judas Priest? Dude deserves it.
@LordGandor3 Yup....we do. So great seeing the two of them up there rocking out, like a machine! It's all so sudden though, I just hope he's not ill. I'll probably go one last time too when they come to town... rock on bro!
I was at high voltage, and when i saw you i thought i was dreaming, seemed like my greatest guitar idol, the other greatest idol being bruce lee, was up before me. You seemed to give me what i missed out on as randy died before i was born, i know you are your own person and you played magnificently, but at least i have you to listen to, as i couldn't listen to randy in the flesh, It makes me so happy to see you were a fan of his too, thanks for the experience and keep rocking.
Ya! Ritchie, I really like you guitar playing. Its a mixture of alot of great guitarists I grew up listening to and learning from. Michel Schenker, Zack Wilde, Jimmy Hendrix, and the great Randy Rhodes, and more! Thanks
mr faulkner you are a true guitarist with soul and power like no one these day you and some RARE guitar player like wylde and others are truly inspiring for ghitar player like me thanks for keeping real rock and roll alive cheers !!!!
Man, I saw this guy on Saturday, and he was phenomenal! Not only was he playing great, but his presence was too. Very good charisma and playing. Great choice for Judas Priest!
Guitarists, notably in the metal genre have continuously pushed the boundaries of virtuosic playing. And while there are those who believe it lacks soul, Richie and several others prove that theory wrong. To be able to play guitar well requires talent, from a single note vibrato to 10 000 notes being shredded. Let's not judge. Let's enjoy. Stay metal. \m/
I SAW YOU IN THE EPITAPTH WORLD TOUR WIHTH JUDAS PRIEST AND MAN, YOU HAVE BECAME ONE OF MY FAVORITE GUITARRIST SINCE THAT SHOW HERE IN MEXICO CITY!!! YOU REALLY KNOW HOW TO PLAY GUITAR A ND ALOSO I LOVE YOUR LES PAUL xD I would like to meet you some day STAY HEAVY DUDE!!!
I remember one time coming to see Metalworks play at 'The Cauliflower', coming off stage after totally ripping a Cowley solo, at my request, which I was, and still very chuffed about. I went over to say thank you and show some respect, and my other half Gillian, who gets quite excitable, before I could even get a word out, very loudly said to you that you was "Shit Hot", unfortunately you only heard "SHIT"! Slightly awkward, Obviously explained and the funny side, seen quickly. But a nice memory we both have, that still comes up in conversation a lot, my other half is still genuinely really embarrassed by it, especially now, with you being as successful as you are, playing with Preist. This must be going back 20 yrs or so now, at least. You was fucking awesome back then, and you've only got better as times gone on!!! Much love brother. Keep it rocking! Terry.
yeah sorry dude. I'm planning on posting a randy rhoads tribute with crowley again since i got it down cleaner. I never said it was easy, i'm just saying it's not yngwie malmsteen or some crazy technical shit like that
I admit.. I was afraid of losing K.K. But... WOW. I love your wide open style. I love how you show respect to the many guitarists, that you and I love so much. I have enjoyed you since I first saw you live back in Bakersfield, calif. Then again In Paso Robles, Calif ( with Mastodon) Thanks for being a metalhead, and a Jed ( or your attitude as an apprentice). I appreciate what you have brought to one of OUR favorite bands. I am enjoying these videos you have shared with us. THanks again!
Ive been playing guitar for about a year now and i love it, but Ive been slipping away from practice and being lazy.. just not feelin it i guess. but you videos just inspired me again. I dont know who you are but thank you for lighting my fire!!!
This man can freaking shred on the guitar.. Making that Les Paul sing! Not many can snatch the feel and soul of Randy Rhoads.. But Faulkner has surely done that!
Totally awesome man! I watched your playing 8 months ago then I lost your youtube channel! I searched a lot! finally I got u and subscribed your channel! u r fucking awesome guitarist! \m/
