I can relate. In second-grade spelling bee I was given the word "shirt". I was so nervous to be on stage in front of the school audience that I failed to include the letter "r". The audience erupted in laughter, and I had not a clue why. I was certain I had spelled it correctly.
I, on the other hand, worry that a (I presume) 6-year-old not only knows that word, but also to what it refers. (Or am I being slightly hysterical here?) 🤔
@@bigredsock1 If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that, in colloquial speech, it started off as something like _willn't._ But as the tongue is in the same position for L and N, the two sort of merged into a nasalised "grunting" vowel: /õ/. And in writing, it ended up being represented as _won't._ But, again, it's just a guess -- however educated. 🙂 (And it doesn't explain why _shall+not_ strayed from the formula and became _shan't_ rather than _shon't._ )🤔😐
@@elvisisalive2716 every show needs a great villain in Mr Leon had really great potential because he was so weird and evil haha.. I love Simon I just thought maybe the incest thing might have been good for one or two jokes but not to keep it going... I like the whole overall dynamic of the characters in the show.. I think they're best years of the show where when the characters didn't necessarily have an evolving relationship with each other but just more like the episodes that just kind of came out of nowhere and portrayed some zany scenarios without any necessary influence or development into future episodes
He could've let her save face by quickly asking how we contract _"is not"._ She'd reply _"isn't",_ and then he could ask what _"hasn't"_ and _"isn't"_ have in common in their spelling. (Provided, of course, that Bethany doesn't think it's spelt _"isen't",_ in which case things would quickly go even more south.) 😄
@@danielvanr.8681 Speaking of contractions, your "could've" is the first time in YEARS on YT that I have seen it spelled correctly, and not the braindead "could of." (Tbh, and for a split second, I thought it was a typo!)🤣 🤓
Honestly, his daughters are so beautiful, and their expressions are just perfect for this type of acting... I still love the one, where she tilts her head and says "Deal with it"... Hahahaha... So sassy...
Great job Gerry! Finally I figured out where I recognized you from on Family Feud! It was these school videos that make me laugh out loud each time I watched them! Great job!!
Among my most favourite of shows… he went to York my first year I was there in ‘91. He was older and popular, and when he got on the elevator, I asked him”what floor?”. He said “Ah, doesn’t matter, pick one…” then realized we were likely all going to the ground floor after a lecture… duh…
I remember when I competed in spelling bee in 2nd my word was peanuts I spell it correctly but I forgot the T and everybody in the audience burst into laughter😂 and I was confused on why everybody was laughing and when got into 4 grade I knew now.
The teacher made a mistake here by letting the kids know the word was taboo. Please he made that little boy seem extra stupid when he just made the same mistake as the others.
Whats the video where he calls the two little girls into the office for spelling their names combined with their crushes fiona and tucker spell fucker and I can remember the other one🤣please is 4am and this is keeping me up

For the English speaking viewers: The Afrikaans word for "side" is "kant", but you say it exactly the same as the offensive word. That did cause a bit of controversy during the South African victory over England, when a black South African team member used the world and a white English player overhead it. He was very upset.... 😂😂 During the #RugbyWoldCup2023 Victory Celebrations in South Africa, this joke resonated all through the country, in all eleven Official Languages. #RugbyWoldCup2023 #Springbokke2023
Having been born in a country whith one of the easiest alphabets and pronunciations, I can immediately spot the reason why it is so much more difficult to spell words in English than in other languages. The reason is pretty simple; because English is such a flexible and malleable language, it is prone to dyslexia and pronouncing mistakes. You *cünt* argue with the boy who spelled "hasn't" as "hasEn't", can you? When does S (s)tart being Z? Or... when is U an A? Like you cûűnt
Great teaching though better if he did. It make a deal about the word and rip air up etc. best to leave it at, Put the hat on, and yes it does and leave it at that - - no more words and no tearing it up.
Folks, having children say that word, is disgusting. If it was an honest mistake, then it would be cute. But this was not a live event, with an honest mistake. This was written by adults, to have children use profanity. That makes it disgusting. For those that feel otherwise, what would you do if an adult had your 8-year old say that word? You would probably give them hell, and might call the police. It is wrong for adults to do this to children. If you think it is acceptable to do this to children, then your parents failed you.
