I think this has been the most compelling campaign for Safety Hi Vis Yellow I’ve ever seen the anxiety I felt when the water was rising and all you can see and the relief of spotting that bright yellow ladder in the water is really intense.

I really like that the sound the enemies make, or at least some of them, sounds a lot like a whale call. The vivid colors of the thing they drilled into reminds me of the film adaptation of 'The Color Out of Space' by Lovecraft and the ribbon shape of it made me think of a sort of...fleshy/sinew magnetic tape in a VHS or cassette. With the visual effect around the screen when nearby enemies/the 'stuff' it looks like sun exposure or burning on film. The visual direction in this game is really beautiful for something so horrific.

Best horror game of 2024 so far for me. It's the disturbing kind of horror as well, not the "fun" kind of horror you would find in something like Resident Evil. A lot of influences from The Thing to Scorn to Alien isolation. Now, if ONLY Chinese Room could develop the exploration, mechanics and gameplay. Maybe it's a size and budget thing. This studio is very talented.

My husband isn't big on horror games but he's really into graphics cards, and how games are made and he came in while I was watching and was BLOWN AWAY by the water physics (especially the waves at the end), the level of detail, everything he saw and now he's going to have a watch too lol

Agree. The only complaint I have is that the monster physics are a bit weird. I’ve noticed them clipping through walls and stuff a few times in this play through.

That music when Caz was ascending was really soothing. So much tension in this episode. It looks like the end is near but in that situation he really deserves to end it quickly.

Okay so the monsters here are like the monster from Carrion, but this time we're on the other side of the game and they're 10 times more horrifying because they don't just eat, they assimilate. Gods, this game gets under my skin in more ways than one and that's bloody awesome!

I appreciate that Caz reacts to all of the dead bodies he finds in this game. They were his coworkers, he should be reacting to their deaths, but a lot of games (and movies) ignore that.

Thank god most Scots don't seem to take it personally when they can understand why someone is mad about the situation. I also like that they have a reason for Caz having to do all the really hard work: the equipment is too specialized and complex for him to operate. It's the reverse of Dead Space.

Usually a large part of horror is taking something that should be safe and making it deadly, but this game really defies the usual horror game tropes by being set in an environment that, even without any monsters or ghosts at all, is already one of the most deadly places you could possibly be.

Oh, this is absolutely tearing at my heartstrings. The characters are so unbelievably well done, from introduction to now it was so smooth, nearly flawless. They feel so real. I keep finding myself at the edge of my seat with every new obstacle. And every time he finds a crewmate who didn't make it... geeze. I hope Caz (and those who remain) make it, but part of me is like... it's already so dark I can't see it ending well for anyone. Fingers crossed I'm wrong. Ah! Looking forward to the next part!

There is something Iconic about Caz's voice, dunno what it is. Just like in the original Mad Max when ever I hear the voice I cant stop "thinking" in that voice LOL. It makes my internal thoughts..... Interesting. Thinking in that accent as a country boy from the USA.

Man what a banger of a game. Balancing horror, personal drama, and high adventure. I loved the response just before heading out to reignite the stack. Also at the beginning I felt spiritually attuned to the oil riggers with all those thermos of coffee that Caz found.

This is by far my favorite game so far this year! The devs that created this amazing game deserve a lot of praise. It's so well done from the voices to the environment and the characters and enemies. Imo stealth games like this are so much more intense. I love it. I hope this team creates another amazing game. They are way too talented. This game is something special. 😁👍

I actually unironically love the little fire extinguisher parts. It may seem completely random/slows the pace, but it's a very important part many other games like this ignore. If you where in this situation, you wouldn't just walk past fires - the entire place would have burnt down before the end of the game 😅

I love this game. The map design and voice acting are really really good. As for the story, maybe everyone agrees that things wouldn't end well since they got their drill in the wrong hole 🤫 P.S. I did consider about applying for a job in a oil rig. After watching this playthrough, I don't think I'd qualify 😂

It actually kinda reminds me of "SOMA" and "Amnesia Rebirth" when you encounter the monsters and the effect it does on your screen

This game is 100% not what I expected. You see "horror game on an oil platform" and you think it's going to be a bit more "open" in where you go. Like you have to go through different departments back and forth avoiding unique monsters (lmao Rennick head) and doing puzzles etc along the way. But it's very linear. This isn't a bad thing mind you, just unexpected. I also think this is one of my favourite uses of "yellow paint" as guides. Sure, there are some places where it's generic (like at the edges of boards you have to jump from), but generally yellow is used as caution, so it makes sense to see it on an oil rig. It also doesn't always use yellow paint, one example is a yellow tarp. I think the only "problem" I have with the game is that the puzzles aren't really puzzles, they just feel like they're extending the play time because you don't think for them. A pipe is busted and steam is coming out? Oh just looking to the only place you can go aside from backwards has a valve. You need to turn the switches on in the right order? The numbers are on the switches etc, and even if some are missing it's just super easy to figure out. Still, the premise, characters, acting, atmosphere and general horror of the game kind of makes up for that. It's very good.

People are calling this boring & a walking sim?! It's any thing but a walking sim with all the running around , swimming , vaulting obstacles & other things Caz has to do & the danger he's in. How could any one think this is boring with all the near death experiences Caz racks up in this game?! 😮😂
