Mr. Hiralal Bhattacharjee was born in Netrokona, Mymensingh in undivided Bengal. Their ancestral land became a part of Pakistan in 1947 and then Bangladesh in 1971. He recalls living through the transitions and staying on in Pakistan after Partition, where he completed his education and college. After marriage, he moved to India where his wife had a teaching position at a university. Later, they moved abroad.

Yes,it is true that even after partation, huge sizable number of Bengali Hindus stayed back in East Pakistan. In fact, hindu festivals were also celebrated in very huge number in East Pakistan like durga pujo, janmashtami, the one in Dhaka was very famous, even now, Rath Yatra, the one in dhamrai near Dhaka was famous n lokkhi pujo. In fact, many hindu political leaders were there in East Pakistan too. In fact, Hindus in East Pakistan were killed much later, during Bangladesh war in 1971. At that time only, mass migration of Hindus started from east Pakistan to India.

I am from Netrakona, I went to school and college there in 1991. I know lot of people left the country without seeing any alternative. They, specially hindu moneyed man established schools, colleges, hospitals and eventually they had to leave the motherland. I am Muslim, but not sure who I need to blame, but in all trouble situation some bastards try to take the advantage of religion that never indulge violences.

Faiaz Kabir dada, my grandfather came to Calcutta from Netrakona Chandankandi. Do you know Chandankandi? Is it a very populated big place now?

Thanks to the old man for telling the truth. If you live Bangladesh in 1971 you can be killed by Pakistani Army, So your migration to India was right. Bangladesh is a country for all religion and the Muslims will save the other religion people in our country continuously and will go ahead..Bengali leaders took mistakes for forming Pakistan. You Welcome anytime in Bangladesh as you have your history from your childhood to Bangladesh.

He is not lying .....he is just describing what happened to him.... আপনার পরিবারের লোকদের সাথে হয়তোবা খারাপ কিছু হয়েছে এবং মুসলিমদের সাথেও তা হয়েছে । তবে একটা কথা মনে রাখবেন বাংলাদেশে সংখ্যালঘিষ্ঠ জনগোষ্ঠীর ওপর আবশ্যই খারাপ আচরণ করা হয় । তবে ভারতের তুলনায় তা কিছুই না । আর আমরা বাঙ্গালি মুসলিমরা সবোর্চ্চ চেষ্ঠা করি হিন্দুদের অধিকার আদায়ের । কারণ তারা হিন্দু হিসেবে নয় আমাদের কাছে বাঙ্গালি ভাই হিসেবে গৃহীত

DHAMNAMO ANNO KOTHAO KORO ........ tora hindu der dekhe barir meyeder tule niye jas ar jami jama sab kere nis........... really u ppl r taking good care of hindu population, so hindu population is below 6% in bangladesh. actually below 2%, many of them are already shifted to india but did not strike out the name from voter/govt list.

@@md.tajbiralim3561 বাংলাদেশের হিন্দুদের অবস্থা তো প্রায়ই দেখা যায় নিউজ পেপারে। ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া, বরিশাল, নোয়াখালীতে হিন্দুদের কিরকম গনহত্যা করা হয়েছিলো আর হয়ে চলেছে তা বর্ননা করা যায় না। আপনারা সব সময় খালি মুসলমানদের পক্ষেই চিল্লান।সময় আসবে একদিন হিন্দুদেরো।
