@@mnishamalamadingdong1829 I smoked rollies for 10+ years (Cutter's Choice when I could, Golden Vag when I couldn't). That's a joint (it's longer than a single skin, and in all my years I never met anyone who doubled up / rolled with kings).
@@HeggyC ehh I’ve seen people use kings to add a filter or something as a barrier between the tobacco&end. It’s not super common, but I have seen it done. Only one person I’ve known used kings or two regulars overlapped for a Rollie without a filter/barrier.
@@Pilvenuga it comes across respectful, too. Like he's not hamming it up or being too cautious, he's doing exactly what someone in that situation would do and it's clear he did his homework. Everyone can do an impression of someone in that state, most of the time it's offensive and mocking more because the person doing it doesn't understand the person they're pretending to be because they only picked up surface indications of their condition and didn't bother to learn anything more. This feels like at minimum he got to know someone going through a similar (but hopefully more positive) experience and did his best to honor them with his portrayal of their condition.
Same. I had never seen this guy before, and actually thought he had MND. It wasn't until I watched another show called The Twelve and saw the same actor all perfectly healthy.
Aside from fact that the dialogue is some of the best I've ever seen on tv, the sound of the birds in the background is so location realistic. Those bird sounds you will only hear in rural australia. Nowhere else. It immediately brought me back hearing that. Love this show man. Might have to binge it for a 4th time now
Jesus, what a series. Honestly this was the first show in a long, long time that literally had me on the edge of my seat every episode. But this one, this one hits like no other.
The gent who played Ray's brother is insanely talented. My son assumed he had some kind of medical ailment in real life; that it wasn't all acting. I had to show him his bio to convince him otherwise. This scene had me fighting back tears, and I don't even have siblings! Truly Academy Award level acting 💙
Holy cow, that's unexpectedly deep. Writers are really the most important aspect of a show. You don't need handsome actors, just people who take their job seriously. But they need a kickass script to work with.
@@Barrythebarnabas sounds like you understand the why and how we are here..... sure there is a paradox about a person trying to finding the meaning of life and never really knowing but you seem to think science and knowledge are the only factors in the equation... ever thought that we could just be in a simulation that makes no sense and we just think we understand things by pretending science and what little we know are enough to comprehend what it's all about? Because science is a religion and if you think it isn't that's your perspective and you are most wwelcome to it, just like everybody else is welcome to have an opinion also.
@@saltydog3099 if you think science is a religion then you’re an absolute moron with zero understanding of the scientific process. I don’t need to provide proof for the non existence of god, science explains nature and how things came to be. Religion just makes shit up and says “see? We solved the great mystery to life so you can all sleep better at night!” But offer ZERO EVIDENCE. "What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence." - Christopher Hitchens
The writing of this scene and every scene with his brother was fantastic, you actually start to believe it’s a real conversation between two actual brothers.
This series is one of my favorites . Found it by accident and thought it was excellent . Ray is not wanting to let his brother go ,but understanding he must . I looked out for my two younger brothers all my life and now I am becoming an old man but the bond is still just as strong .
I’ve been eyeballing Mr. Inbetween for a while now, coming close to starting the series but always pulled back for some reason. I’m starting this series today after seeing this scene!
It’s definitely worth the watch! I like watching many live action shows and movies, across all countries. But this show takes the cake and is one of my top 5 favorites.
I have been watching some of the clips where Ray is out kicking someone's ass, but now I need to see this show. The performance from the actor playing Bruce was masterful, and the script he had to work with was so cleanly crafted and still felt organic. Putting this at the top of the list.
Rays relationship with his brother added so much depth to this programme for me and it was truly heartbreaking. Honestly, one of the best programmes I have ever seen. And 3 seasons was just right. Pretty much a perfect series. Well done all involved. 10/10
I get what you mean by 3 seasons being just right, or "enough". But man, I wish it would just keep on going on. Not often we get actors and scripts and directing like this.
I came to realize that the show has everything. Has good action scenes, humour, psychological drama, liltle bit of silce of life and on top of that those deeply touching scenes like that one. I wish it was longer, but on the other hand perhaps it is better to leave it at it's current perfect state than to fuck it up.
this show really made me care about these characters in a way that i didn’t realize happened until this episode. and it was heavy as fuck. especially the scenes of bruce waking up, seeing brit and coming here as he knows that was final day in this world. heavy fucking shit and well written and performed dialogue that says and shows all it needs to without being heavy handed. ray doesn’t show it much but he truly loves the people closest to him and they’re the reason he does what he does. and he loves bruce so much because they were put through the same shit in their childhood and got each other through it.
It's easier for Bruice to say forgive. He knows he's on the way out and can let all that shit go. Rays got to forgive in his own time, forgiveness not something you can ask of a person.
I literally commented about this cause it hit me so hard. I've been sitting on a veranda in the bush just talking with my grandparents and the sound of the magpies and kookaburras sounding off is just so unique. To them I think it becomes normal but a guy from oklahoma it was like a symphony. I go back every year and the first time I hear it I'm at peace. For some reason I didn't notice it when I watched this show(seen it three times now) but this clip it hit me like a brick
No one canceled it. Ray(the creator and writer) only planned three seasons and didn't want to muddle up the story by trying to extend it. Take it for what it is. A great story that ended
Being someone who’s in a similar situation to yourself, sometimes you have to take a step back and understand that forgiveness isn’t about letting the other person off the hook, it’s to give yourself a better quality of life. Harbouring that resentment for so long only burns you out eventually, and you wish you could be something other than bitter and angry all the time. Like Bruce eluded to, it’s like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. I’m not saying forgiveness is easy, but it’s an important part of letting go, and being able to move on in life, for your own sake.
I’m in a confused spot. Hatred makes you 10x sharper 24/7, but it will end you if you always stay submerged. I’m trying to keep my hatred without letting it take me out. It’s hard to balance. You don’t need to swallow false positivity to give yourself a break so you don’t crack. Wishing you luck.
i haven't watched this show straight through and it's crazy, i totally thought ray was going to off his brother here because he gave the "i'm a killer" smile and then it turns out he was just internally roiling, and his instinct was to outwardly portray "i'm a killer"....i know the guy who plays ray is writer/producer/actor and all that, and i THINK he's just a natural and i know i'm only inferring the intent of the portrayal, but if he CALCULATED that then holy fak he deserves even more credit than he already gets
People die and their consciousness ceases spite however much of their physical composition remains. Deepities, wishful thinking and mumbojumbo alike doesn't change it as the fact it is, so live now instead of procrastinating in wait for a second chance in some fantasy existence. Appreciating and coming to terms with the limitations of life is a far more sobering experience than any concocted alternative worldview can provide. Being realistic isn't necessarily a gloomy take on life, it's about being able to see it as the function it is rather than ascribing it some unfounded reason based on non-existing purpose and meaning you very much would like it to have.
the only thing i didn't like in this series was ray's cellmate getting killed, but other than that. fantastic series, one pf the very best i have ever seen. brilliant doesn't do it justice
I dont remember how young i was when i stopped believing in Christianity and an Almight God. I just remember that i never believed a word of what was said at church, even though i voluntarily went every Sunday long after my siblings had stopped because Mom let them stay home. However i remember when i learned about the Laws of Conservation of Energy suddenly the concept of a soul became the most real thing in the world. Consciousness is a combination of brain matter and electrical energy, meaning that it cannot be destroyed, only change forms. Faith is just peoples theories about what that energy transforms into. Personally, im waiting to be pleasantly suprised.
Personally, I can stop feeling anything about a situation given enough time. I think that’s really what we’re after. The moment you literally don’t care about what happened anymore. You can move on from it. Forgiveness seems like this high road holier than thou approach to it. It’s rushed because you have to make sure the other person knows you forgive them, or at least someone other than yourself has to know. You’re told it’s “better” to be forgiving. It’s fake.
There’s a difference between forgiveness and just ignoring something. It’s like opening a file on your computer. You can close it and have as many programs, tabs and files as you want after it, but it’s still there. Forgiveness is deleting that file.
A big theme of that season (2, i believe?) is how his brother's health and function continues to deteriorate, to the point where he can't even control his bowels anymore. He's made peace with the fact that there's not going to be any improvement, and is aware of what Ray does, so its an act of love, mercy and compassion on Ray's part
