The words Kyrie Eleison, translate to “God have mercy”. He was quite literally pronouncing a blessing over these young people. A prayer, if you will. For God’s protection. And God’s mercy. Richard, Page and most of the guys of the band are believers. I wonder if anyone in the audience realized what was happening. Incredible.

Like Tears for Fears these guys were so overplayed on the radio & MTV at the time people seemed to forget what great singers, songwriters & perfomers they were. Compared to the pathetic corporate computer-corrected sludge that passes for music nowadays throwing on a Mr. Mr, or TFF CD on sounds like a breath of fresh air, the 80's still rule in my book, the recording equipment & standard of mixing & production was finally able to capture the essence of a kick ass rock band.

One of the many great and underated bands from the 80's. Great song. Page's voice is amazing. All of this guys were incredible studio musicians when they release this album. The 80's were the last decade of great music. After that, everything went downhill.

"Kyrie" was a #1 hit song by the 1980s pop/rock band Mr. Mister, from their 1985 album Welcome to the Real World. (Kyrie Eleison, is Greek translation for "Lord have mercy"). Released in late 1985, it hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in March 1986, where it was #1 for two weeks. Mr. Mister is an American pop rock band most popular in the 1980s. The band's name came from an inside joke about a Weather Report album called Mr. Gone where they referred to each other as "Mister This" or "Mister That", and eventually selected "Mr. Mister." Mr. Mister may be considered as representative of the melodic sound of 1980s pop rock. The band consisted of Richard Page on vocals and bass guitar, Steve George on keyboards, Pat Mastelotto on acoustic and electronic drums and Steve Farris on guitars.

Richard playing a gorgeous 5-string Yamaha BB5000 here, and he gets a little lost during the first chorus! Think he forgets he's got a low B, but he goes back to starting the 2nd chorus on the C on the A string, just to be on the safe side! Wish I had that bass. Nice tight string spacing, and fantastic tone.

@@DangerousDrummerDado I actually built a couple of my own; a 4-string Jazz body from Guitarbuild with normal Fender neck heel, got a neck made with a 45mm nut width, and a Schaller 2000 bridge to bring the spacing down to 15mm. Might be a bit tight for some, but I get zero fatigue at gigs. I also put in two Kent Armstrong Claymores (each wired to a mini switch for 3-way coil tap), and a Bass Mods 35AP 3-band preamp. Honestly fills any tonal need in any band situation I've been in.

No, the last part is really true! The Quality of Mainstreammusic went down in the early-mid 90´s. All this shit like rap and hip hop dominated from there on. We lost this fat sound of the 70´s/80`s . People who hear todays mainstream are only captured by the marketing of the plate labels! Todays music simpliy doesn´t have this positive energie of the 80´s music...

Just my two cents worth, from the mid 90's downward real musicians! Now listen carefully to the song of today. Half of the musicians today use a pc or Mac and soft synth, with just a keyboard controller. unlike before people use synthesizer's and play live! only live players buy the best keyboards today like Kurzweil PC3K or any kind of Korg Kronos from the 1st. generation to the 2nd.... and some singers use auto tune! I would rather use real hardware than software. you can use your skills rather than rely on the pc or Mac and not learn to play the keyboard. Peace everyone!

Thats your oppinion.. Yes, it isn´t easy to understand. You have to be a musician to understand it. The lyrics, the structure and the harmonics are really important. And!!>> There wasn´t much lesser musicians than today! But all in all i only critizised the ,,Mainstream´´! It had really much more quality in the 70´s/80´s. The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free!
