Yea I'm annoyed we didn't go back to listen because I noticed how she deliberately said that while editing the video. I should have added in something in the discussion saying I noticed.

I also sorta reasoned myself there by looking at Darlene - it's quite clear they purposefully cast Darlene and Elliot to look like each other. And if Darlene has genetical similarities to the mastermind, so too must she look like Elliot

It's so great how it was all planned from the beginning, truly shows considering the detail, care and love that's gone in to the show!

Very hard to let go of this masterpiece...but I'm glad it was a great ending! That world was too perfect!

It's definitely very high up there for me....it really blew me away! I will say before finishing the show I was apprehensive about it not being the real Elliot we followed....however, I think it was all handled so well and made so much sense that I was very happy with it.

Was so happy to see someone connecting with characters and praising cinematography and music cause this show deserves it all, can't believe it's not that popular but I guess it's kinda a niche show, very heavy at times, sometimes weird and tho it has a very hopeful ending the show itself so depressing in my opinion I love it to bits, but it seriously was a mistake to binge it all non stop, my depression was kicking in like crazy afterwards x) no regrets tho ahah And about DID I'm gonna copy parts of my comment for a different reactor if you don't mind! It was formally known as Multiple personality disorder but was changed to Dissociative Identity Disorder (because it was confusing as group of "personality" disorders are different from group of "dissociative" disorders in nature) So first of, it is a very misunderstood condition, to this day some psychiatrists doesn't believe it even exists, but it IS officially a disorder and you can have an official diagnosis for it, just hard to find a good therapist who is willing and capable to work with that It is not AS rare as everyone think. DID is made for people to not know about it! (Alters can pretend to be the host, if they think you are not a safe person to open up to. If they don't want you to know you will never know) Even the person that has it may not know about it. There's a lot of instances where the person discovers about it in their thirties or forties for example (or never at all) but it can be developed ONLY in childhood More specifically before ages between 7 to 9 - a child that has an ability to dissociate to a high level + have complicated relationships with their guardians/parents (doesn't feel safe or have an unhealthy relationship) + goes through REPEATED trauma before 7-9 can develop DID how does it work is your mind creates amnesia barriers between alters to help deal with the trauma Basically to dissociate from it "personalities" is an outdated term, now it's called alters = alternate state of being the group of alters called a System It was believed before that there is one central alter and the other ones break off from it (this show is going for this interpretation like the real Elliot = main one, and the other are a part of him) but later, not so long ago actually, it was discovered that it's not quite like that. There is no main one, it's just equal alters that together create one system. Imagine it like a cup that's been shattered to pieces Every alter is created for a reason (btw ones your brain learns in childhood that it can cope with trauma through creating an alter it will continue to do so your whole life so you can go through a stressful situation and here we go a new alter pop out) There's a lot of roles that alters take in a system but the main ones are indeed: The Host - the alter that is out more often, usually deals with day to day life The Protector - deals with the shit that the host can't handle, (and there's can be different protectors for specific types of situations or just a main one for everything) The Prosecutor - often causes harm to the body and/or other alters (there's a lot of reasons why the alter would behave like that, for example they hold memories about some trauma and can't deal with it themselves, they can feel abandoned or alone, or they are angry that they are an alter or they just think that host is weak for letting the abuser harm them and they are angry about that and so on and so on) Also one alter can have multiple roles, or change roles over time, and multiple alters can have the same role (it can be two co-hosts for example, a prosecutor can become a protector and so on) It is possible for alters to communicate with each other. You are not always hearing voices and it's not always clear, but with a lot of work and with therapy you can develop communication and trust between the alters to better maintain life, learn to agree with each other, Systems often use notes and journaling or even video messages to communicate Because of the amnesia between alters they develop different personalities (because they basically remember different experiences from life, meet different people), so they are full on people that can have different orientation, gender, religion, believes, goals in life, clothes/hair preference, friends, even partners and so on, but they are all in one body. They just can't live different lives the way they want to, and it is scary and frustrating and because of this it's so important for alters to learn to communicate and compromise Alters can break off from another alter, and also alters can integrate (fuse with each other) the ultimate goal of therapy (not always and not every system wants this or not always it's even possible) is to fuse to one singular person. So to put it simple - remove all amnesia barriers, remember all trauma and process it. It will not always work, it's a long and difficult process and there's no guarantee that you won't develop new alters later in life or break apart again. So mostly therapy focuses on learning to deal with a condition and live with it, it is scary and hard but you can live a happy and productive life! It's an amazing coping mechanism and it exists to help human brain is so powerful it's astonishing Of course there is a lot more to it but it's just a bit of basic information Sorry for a lengthy comment, I hope this was educational :) Thank you again for the amazing journey!

We saw him in the Halloween flashback with Darlene. I think that was the real Elliot, since the Mastermind was born probably at the server room incident, but only took full control not so long prior to the first episode (maybe a week or so).

@@L4sz10 I don’t think so. That was the mastermind. If you remember he was telling Darlene how he had a break down in his old job and he was kick out and he didn’t remember what happened…that was already the mastermind with his anger issues

@@mchao1183 yes, the real Elliot had anger issues, and when he took the mask at Halloween, that is when he started to dissociate the Mastermind personality from his own. The Mastermind personality was represented by the Anonymous mask. But it was only shortly before the series when it took over and solidified as a distinct personality. That is when he forgot Darlene (probably because of the attempt to lock Elliot into the loop-world). During the morphine withdrawal vision, when he falls into the loop-world, the "Angela" says that he was born about a month ago. Considering that three weeks passes during the first episode, that would make the Mastermind's "birthday" really close to the start of the show. If we can believe to his subconscious of course.
