Thank you for this. Ive been watching multiple different lessons to piece together something that fits my hands and feels good. This has been a big help, cheers!
It’s a far stretch, however, Atkins has a different neck scale on his guitar than you do on yours. You have great videos. I really appreciate the work you put in to produce these videos - great job!
Nicely explained. I gave up learning this tune because of the " huge stretch" (small hand and arthritis). Also, Good tip regarding the "pulse technique". I will try learning your method today. Wish me luck!
Thanks, perfect: cords + tabs + really helpful tips + great playing = zero excuse for not getting this. In time. P.s. I can do the stretch thank you rock climbing. It's just the rest of it I can't...
Just hold your guitar like classical guitarist would. This stretch isn't so bad. Just take that stretch shape up 12 frets and walk it down chromatically
The stretch is by no means the hardest part of this song. I dont have giant hands either. It is nice to know a different way to play it, though. The tab on this is fuckin fantastic my friend.
I hate to mention the obvious, but Chet had long, slender fingers. Those killer stretches were a piece of cake for him. I’ve got bunches of tab books of his arrangements. One shows a close up picture of his left hand with fingers extended. They were loooooooooooong. I even got to shake that hand in person once in 1989. I touched the magic! Even that killer opening stretch in Cascade was a walk in the park for Mr Guitar!
Nice lesson!I playd this with the stretch for years, finally getting it usually right after a gazillion bum notes, Then I listened to the recording closely. It''s hard to tell but if you listen to the recorded version it sounds like the first A he plays goes dead during the arpeggio. I think Chet he may have come up with the stretch when he started playing it on TV.
It sounds like you play the high strings on the chords while the tabs don’t show that, is that correct? For people that have a hard time flattening their phalanx to hit three strings at once it seems easier to just use the ringfinger as shown in the tab, it sounds less full though.
Try to always follow the chord diagrams on the tabs. I put a lot of effort to make them correct. Sometimes Ill add extra harmony by playing more notes of the chord but the grips are represented in the chord diagrams above the tabs. Thanks for watching!
In the guitar tab, at measure 9 it says to play open a string and the high e string on the 4, then it seems like it's saying to pluck G on the sixth fret and D on the 7th fret at the same time. Is this correct?
