Well, technically this isn’t “my” secret. I learned it from my Plumeria Professor, David Konishi. THE MASTER!
And it’s not even a secret, but I’ve been doing this for a few years and have been successful in bring back some sad looking cuttings.
This works for almost any cutting, even extremely dry and wrinkled ones have come back from just a 24 hour soak.
Use clean water and cover
Be sure it’s throughly dry before plastic wrapping
Store in warm, dry are (garage, shed) out of direct sunlight to not sunburn your cutting.
You should start seeing evidence of callusing in a matter of days.
Thanks again for watching gardy people!

I'm sooo glad I found your videos. I have some overgrown plummies that I'll have to trim in the Spring, but I also bought some rare named varieties online that I need to root. They're calloused but I like your bag-rooting technique. I'm in South Florida and will be doing this over the winter (starting now) and I even have a heat mat tucked away. I was just wondering how long before I can look for roots to appear in the bags. Thanks so much for each of your plumeria videos! Excellent job on the procedural part and making them user-friendly! 👍🌸🌿❣️

Thank you, that was the goal! It doesn’t work 100% of the time but its the most effective method I know.

They’ll root under the plastic wrap? How much light are they getting ?

I don’t understand why you wrap them to callus them over. Won’t leaving them to dry out/callus without wrapping in plastic do the same thing? I don’t understand why this step to prompt calluses.

Yes. I’ve been trying both methods for months now and either way seems to work just as well. Warm dry place is the key. Too hot they dry out. Too cold they don’t grow.

I would think if you wrap it you are risking water being stuck inside which would rot these trunks .I was shocked to see you soak it in water I'd think it would make it softer not harder 🤷‍♂️
