Thank you for this. Perfect timing. I potted 4 cuttings in solo cups about the same time you did yours and they now need to be moved out because the roots are growing out of the holes at the bottom. I'm so scared to kill them :( I lost mine when we had the big freeze here in TX

Hello @tiki71 I have some cuttings I have been growing that I picked up on a recent trip to Oahu at the ABC store. They have recently been repotted, and the leaves are growing like crazy. I water them once a week based on your video with Hawaiian Bud & Bloom. Should I take off some of the leaves or just let them fall over naturally? One of the clippings got small flowers within two months, the others have not? Thanks and enjoy your videos

Let them drop. As long as they are green, they're doing their thing.

thank you for your informational videos. I brought a cutting from Hawaii 5 yrs ago. It grew, branched out but hasn't bloomed even once. We live in Northern Nevada so I can only take it outside in late May since we have cold snaps at night. I am worried about my plumeri this year because it does not have any leaves yet. Crossing my fingers that it does better this year :-(

You have a beautiful place there so thanks for sharing. I have a question about a Plumeria that I actually started from a seed 5 or 6 years ago and the leaves are not the typical green but are sort of coppery/green. I feature this plant in my latest video on my channel. So far it has never bloomed and was wondering if someone can help me identify this species. Thanks!

You did not say it in the video when is the time to repot the plumeria cuttings. Mine are blooming but they are the cuttings from winter. Now we’re in June and they have so many new buds growing and some flowers. But I want to espérate them they are 2 in one small pot so I want to separate but not sure when or if is to late? 😩
@Tiki71
@Tiki71 3 года назад
I figured by the date on the video in the springtime and referencing back to when I planted the cuttings in November it would be self evident. I potted them up in mid April, so about six months from cutting to potting up. 🤙🌸 Be very gentle if you're going to separate them. I might sit the root ball in water first, so they come apart easy and the roots are less likely to break.

Hi Jerry, you may remember me from one of my past posts. I'm both a "liker" and subscriber from Lake Charles, LA. Well, I've got my 4 plumeria cuttings pretty well rooted now in "SoLo" sized clear plastic cups, watering them through 4 round-the-clock holes I've drilled in the side of the cupevery90 degrees around the periphery and secured with rocks like yours. There's another RU-vid site called "Jake's Plumerias" you may be familiar with that I take advice from as well. You've been a lot of help with soil mixtures and other plumeria techniques. How critical is it that I use the fish emulsion solution? Where do I get it, online? If I can't lay my hands on any, what else could I use instead? How soon after the transfer into my terra cotta pots would I give them fertilizer? I'll tell you, my roots are not as well developed as yours, them being just started since this past spring. Is is too early to make the transfer (to terra cotta pots)?. I trust your advice so much, I'm going to make a special effort to get the same items you use. Thanks again and talk to you later. 🪴
@Tiki71
@Tiki71 2 года назад
Hi Dale. Here is the Fish Fertilizer I use: amzn.to/3z8orDg and here is the Hawaiian Bud & Bloom: amzn.to/3ckcIs6 I would let the roots develop and hold off on fertilizing until you have new growth and a good root system. Otherwise it will just sit in the soil and not get taken up by the plant. I just top watered, when indoors once every 3-4 weeks when I'm getting them established. If I start them in Early November in the indoor grow space, I'm usually ready to start feeding once I move them out to the greenhouse around March/April (just to give you an idea). Thanks for watching!

Sadly, I have to report to you that I lost every single one to ROOT ROT, I suppose. I did everything by the book EXCEPT painting the roots with cinnamon before potting. May will try again next year. Now I'm focusing on 6 desert roses (4 Adenium obesums and 2 A. Arabicums) plus what is known as a Madagascar palm. Do a RU-vid search and check them out. They are only about 4" tall but growing fast. It's already Oct. 23 here in Lake Charles, but the cooler weather will definitely come before long. That's when I bring all of them inside for a winter sleep. So far, they've still got all their leaves. I can't wait until next spring, and they start BLOOMING. It'll be a gas! Stay in touch and thank for replying. @@kimlewis5429

@@kimlewis5429 The desert roses areall in terra cotta pots. I have 4 Adenium obesums and 2 A. Arabicums that are approx. 6-8" tall and healthy as can be. It's April 12, 2024 and 73 degrees at 12:24 P.M. and they're all outdoors on the lawn outside my patio getting full sun on a picture perfect day. I lightly watered them yesterday. Also, via the Internet, I just got 2 giant aloes (1 Aloe marlotheii and 1 A. ferox) from a grower in AZ called "Happy Valley Plants" that look to be at least a couple of years old and are GIANT, being appox. a good foot tall and probably 11/2 feet wide. Additionally, I got a "Teresa Wilder" rooted plumeria from "J & J Plumeria's" with 3 branches that is a good yard tall with some small leaves, as it is coming out of dormancy. I'm looking forward to growing these new additions this spring and summer. Best of luck to you as well! 🪴🌴🌵

I love Plumerias. I have one which is about 8 feet tall. I know I need to cut and propagate, but don't know how to cut the main stalk which is about 2.5" in diameter. What Do I use to cut it and where? Can I cut it into several pieces? What else? Do your readers have suggestions? I've had very good luck with restarting cuttings, but it seems to take years for any of them to bloom. I used a food I bought last year and finally the big one bloomed. All my plants thrived from it. When you started your cuttings you put in your greenhouse, how often did you water? Given I don't have a greenhouse or garage, but want to start cuttings in the winter within my home, how often should I water using your exact procedure for starting with central heat in the house? Lastly, I bought 2 grow lights off Amazon. One was only $10, which hung from the ceiling. Within a week, my plants were going crazy. The other was one like yours, but on a stand. It had the Plumerias putting off leaves in February. My other plants didn't even know it was winter. Thanks and love your videos. You do a good job.

I have several plumeria plants that I started from stems and transferred into one and two gallon pots. They are now producing their first leaves and some are flowering. How do you know when it is time to plant in the ground or re-pot into larger pots? I would prefer to get them into the ground but if it is safer to re-pot into larger pots I will do that.

I live in Inlet Beach, Florida. I’m growing plumeria from seed. The tiny plants are starting to have leaves. After I repot and they have grown about 6 months, can I plant them in the ground out of the pot? Or, plant whole pot in ground? I’d like them to grow as tall as they can (6’ maybe)?

Some of my tiny plants leaves are turning yellow. Am I watering too much? It’s been extremely hot & humid. When the soil is dry (which is once a week), I water. It drains well. Just don’t want to lose any. I’ve been removing the yellow leaves. 😔

Once they develop a good rood system, they can take weekly watering for sure. If it's really hot, maybe two or three times per week. It all depends on the variables. The leaves, usually let me know, "Hey, I need a drink". I'm not giving up my rum though. ;)
