Hey Mate, you should spool out the cable all the way and wind it back in with about 150kg of weight on it. That will help to avoid the cable jamming when next time spooling out after using it in anger. I run my hook all the way up to the fairlead as I have seen cables damaged when hooked underneath when you run out of approach angle.
I know i should probably get a winch.. I was warned you want to get it when the bullbar goes on as itll cost you more later on down the track as in most cases have to remove the bullbar to fit the winch.. so more labour costs. I guess i havent had the need for winch as of yet and its been over 2 years. trying to save weight not add more :)
