In this video I visit the Derwent Light Valley Railway to meet with ex Instructor and friend of mine, Tony, who's personal work shop can been seen in my video 'How many machines can you fit in a garage'
Members of the DVLR exhibit their works and show the various volunteering activities they are involved in.
the DVLR can be found in York, England.

Superb Crispin, a wonderful video. So important that the work of these enthusiasts is acknowledged and recorded for posterity. Your machining videos are mind bogglingly adictive and therapy for a curious mind, great work.

Excellent video. I enjoy the field trips to other locations and interests. You are an excellent interviewer. Being from the US, I'd love to hear some in-depth discussion about the various English running stock and engines. Fascinating that one of the carriages was many years older than the DVLR.

Nice film, thank you. I had plans (literally!) to build a signal box styled house but then I met someone and apparently then you need to be sensible about such things. But I do have a points lever and a proper red green signal arm spectacle so maybe one day I can convince her to let me build a working, full size semaphore signal in the garden.

Hi mate, great stuff as normal. Not an oily rag in sight for this proposal but would be absolutely great to see you do a review like this of Friends of Williamson's Tunnels in Liverpool. Need all the help they can get.

Lovely stuff, thank you ! I heard a while back - Guy bought a 45-ton steam locomotive from British Coal. Invoice arrived, and stated, Item 'Steam Locomotive, 45 ton', Quantity, 'Approximately , One'.

Good morning Mr. Crispin. Did I mention previous to Pratt & Whitney I was a mechanic for Via Rail? GPA30 locos and the little twin Cummings powered rail liners were the toys I got to fix for a short spell before going to Pratt. Cheers

Britain seems to be the Milk and Honey Land for old train stuff, very beautiful. So much old stuff is kept- in Germany it is seemingly harder to do. In my childhood Schienenbusse (railbuses) were the main means of passenger transport between our village and the next town, I loved them. Even steamtrains were coming thru- rarely but they did, still. Those railbuses had MAN truck engines and were diesel mechanic but with a torque converter and automatic gearbox, very easy to drive. Even in cold winters they were cosy and warm, so sad they run no more.

2:06 that 3rd gauge appears to say oil pressure but it is bouncing all over the place? If that is engine oil and the pump is gear there must surely be an issue for the pressure to jump like that. Maybe its a piston pump?

in listening to the locomotives, it seems like they had rubber tires instead of steel. Can you confirm that Crispin?

@@MrCrispinEnterprisesThanks, they were so quiet and black w/out any bright shinny wear; just didn't seem like normal tires.
