Real footage of brain MRI sounds filmed inside MRI scan room (brain MRI with contrast, MRCP Abdomen MRI with Contrast). MRI scan sounds filmed inside the scan room while performing magnetic resonance imaging scan procedure. What does MRI sound like? Brain MRI scan performed using 1.5T GE Standard head coil on a GE Signa Excite 1.5T MRI and MRCP Abdomen MRI scan performed using a 1.5T Torso Array Coil. I hope you enjoy the video!

Tips for enjoying your MRI: 1. Keep your eyes shut and relaxed the entire time, from before they slide you in until the moment they slide you out. If you do this, the inside of the MRI machine is not small but boundless, as big as your mind chooses to make it. 2. Think of the sounds of the machine as experimental music. Find the rhythms. Add your own melodies, lyrics, and layers of beats on top of it. 3. Meditate. Appreciate the time spent relaxing your body laying totally still. For the hour, you have no responsibilities in the world.

Tip for anyone going to have one, I had one today and deal with claustrophobia. What I did was closed my eyes before they even put me in that tube part and never opened them back up because I knew if I saw the closed space coupled with those loud noises, I would have a panic attack. Kept my eyes closed and imagined I was laying in either a field outside or the beach and did that the entire time til it was over.

@@nikuliyadarpan7367 To answer your question, yes & I’ve had 22 MRI scans in total. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for them. My husband, who worked in healthcare all his life, says he's never seen anyone who falls asleep while listening to all that banging and clanging. For me, it may be the magic combination: being inside the machine (I'm the opposite of claustrophobic), and the sounds. I'm an insomniac otherwise.

People should be encouraged to listen to this beforehand. The noise in the machine is about the same as on the iPad with the sound up to max and headphones on. The worst is the initial loud noise that sounds like an alarm going off but it’s short lived and then it does get better. The key is shut your eyes and try to stay calm for the first few minutes then you should be able to settle in.

I listened to this yesterday. Out of the MRI room. Where I had just bolted from, unable to bear the monstrous sound, then spent the better part of an hour trying to calm down by various tips on the internet which seemed only to increase my anxiety. One of them advised listening to recordings beforehand and familiarising yourself with the sounds, which was a bit too late, but I still hit play on this video, trying to regulate my breaths despite the chaos unfolding around me. And it worked! I returned to the belly of the monster. Forced my breaths to follow its own rhythm and not succumb to the urging of the machine. My heart again seemed to burst (which was what sent me tail-between-legs out of the room in the first place) but after a while suddenly something clicked and there I was as relax as a baby in the womb. A few more minutes and I knew now I could stay here forever, in fact there were times I nearly fell asleep. The 20 minutes went by as a not-very-much-joy ride and the steel bed spat me out, disdaining, vowing to chop me up if we meet again. So thank you good person who uploaded this. You save me and the very big fee I paid for the MRI from humiliation and never again daring to show up at the hospital.

I had one for the first time today. I just closed my eyes, did my yoga breathing, and visualized the sounds I was hearing. It can be a cool experience, if you don’t get into it thinking of all the scary stories that you’ve heard. And when you get nervous, it helps to remind you that the machine is there to help you.

I had a brain tumour in 2011 and had my first ever MRI the night I had to be operated on, luckily I’m not claustrophobic, but at the time I really didn’t care what they did to me, I was in that much agony. I’ve had dozens of MRIs over the years and they don’t phase me at all, I’ve even had one where I’d pretty much drifted off to sleep I was in there that long. One tip I can give to anyone who might be getting one or people who get claustrophobic, just try and keep your eyes shut, relax, and if the operators/nurses can provide you with music to listen to, do it, in my opinion it seems to make the scan feel shorter. There’s nothing to be scared of, you don’t feel anything, the machine may get a bit warm depending on the scan, but other than that it’s just the noise you have to put up with.

I’ve never liked the contrast when they give it to me, but only one time they used the machine to do it, but most of the time they do it by hand. TO MY FELLOW CLAUSTROPHOBICS: Hello! I am a 14 year old M currently scheduled for a brain MRI w/ out contrast. I have researched about my hospital and they have a GE 1.5T just like this one. If you are worrying about the sound and that you might jump/be scared because of it, it is not as loud as you think. They give you pads (if you use a head coil) that reduce the noise by a tremendous amount. The noise was very faint and allowed me to actually enjoy it. I ended up making techno type beats out of my scan however the technician wasn’t amused. The machine is extremely intimidating at first. Yes, you need to mentally prepare for it. The simple “I can do it” message in your head actually helps. If you are worried about the small space, then I feel ya… Honestly, I would just close my eyes as soon as you lay down on the bed. Never opened them, worked perfectly for me. Frankly the moments between when you enter the MRI room and when you go in the scariest. At that point, I would start to think of something else and if you can, having a family member/loved one helps a lot. Coming from my first ever MRI scan, I actually fell asleep; from popular belief the MRI scanner isn’t all that loud if you have pads and earplugs (they did not supply headphones because it was a head scan) however if you are the person accompanying them outside, it is somewhat irritating. A final message, I really would not worry about the noise or the size. I was extremely worried that I would jump from the sudden noises leading to my head moving, however it was a faint buzzing and knocking and it was over in 15 minutes. You got this :) I apologize for my faint english. I am a transfer student from Korea

At 72, I have very good hearing and the little ear plugs they put in did nothing to dampen the noise. The worst thing was the camera bar that went right across my shoulder blades. The tech told me that if they moved me they would have to start my neck scan all over. I said hell no and we went on to the finish line, which was about an hour total. I sure hope they can figure out how to quiet those things down.

I had my scan yesterday and I asked to be pulled out after 10 seconds inside the machine. Had I known that the buzzing sound is not necessarily continuous, I probably have endured it. I guess now I'm ready to go back

Ive heard from people the noises are terrifying but being a techno and electronic music fan these basically sound like listening to my spotify playlists 😂

That’s funny. I’m pretty sure they were playing the same sounds at EDC

Call me a psycho, but I looooove how the MRI sounds. I have to go to the MRI twice a year, once because of my foot and once because of my shoulder, and I find it extremely pleasant. 🤤🤤😍😍 People make fun of me when I tell them that I like going to my MRI appointments because the sound of the device calms me down abnormally. They said I should go to a psychiatry... I have to admit that on my very first MRI I cried because I thought I was too fat, haha. 🤣🤣🤣

The sound is so calming to me too, i take naps during the scans most of the time. We often verify image quality on the systems with test patient scans and I'm always the first to volunteer.
