Really? I don't think so. I mean . . . I like Kate and Anthony, but I found Daphne and Simon more interesting to watch. I guess I found their story more interesting in compared to this season's romance, which is basically another version of an old trope to me.

Daphne and Simon was also just a trope old as time: arranged marriage and also lowkey good (inexperienced) girl and "bad" boy lol. Also all they did was fuck which got boring for me quite quickly. I prefer the tension and build up of s2!

Some of those critics & reviewers alike, make salient points re: the lack of bonding conversation between Kanthony, supplanted only by heavy breathing, amplified heartbeats & lingering looks, along with dragged-out superfluous sub-par subplots. Just some of the objective issues s2 faces if biases were not so rigid in some people to see it. But give me any surface-level romance, (even if it instigates drama just for drama's sake with some dubious plot & character choices) & I'm happy.😅😅😅

okay because that's because, at THAT moment in the plot, he realized for the 1st time that he's falling in love, so he proposed to Edwina that to run away from it because he didn't want to see what his mother went through.

yes, exactly. He can't have love in his marriage, he was very clear about that in ep3. He's running from it because he's scared he's going to end up like his parents or he's going to leave his future wife in pain like his mother. And since he also still feels it's his duty to carry the name and to marry, he's going to marry Edwina, who he feels she's going to be the perfect Viscountess, and wants the same things as him (of course she also wants love but I feel since he was clear at the end of ep2 that he couldn't give her love, but duty and actions, and she was okay with it, he thinks they are on the same page on this).

No Kate rejected his advances. He wanted to get married this season so he proposed to Edwina.

Just communicate and Kate didn’t. In fact she rejected him. No matter what Anthony felt toward Kate, it’s not consensual if Kate was non commital to Anthony.

I feel sorry for Edwina, but, at the same time, she ignored her sister's warnings to stay away from lord Bridgerton and she behaves like a spoiled teenager, a princess to whom nothing can ever be denied. Too focused on herself. She is too obsessed about getting the season's most eligible bachelor.

@@CTM418 I think you're not wrong, but the way S2 was set up it doesn't show Edwina having any pressure or thought for her family at all, and while it sucked for women like her to have to marry, the fact that Kate thinks she can't seems a lot more pitiful because, like she said, she's no long part of anything, but her sister can still dream of a fairy tale ending. I didn't hate Edwina as a character but by the end of the day, I don't think the show did a good job of making me feel bad for her. She just didn't care about anything except her pending wedding with the viscount, while Kate cared too much about her and Mary and too little about herself. All the way to the end, the one getting the shorter end of the stick was Kate.

@@CTM418 I would have LOVED to see all that angst and conflict in Edwina, but I honestly don't think the show delivers it. She has been prepared for marriage and she really wants to marry Anthony because she thinks he's the perfect catch (and eventually thinks she fell for him) but that's about all the show gives us. I do think it would have elevated the season SO much to flesh her out some more. But I also think the outcome would have been the same because the problem is not that people can't understand that she feels she has to marry well (at least, in my case) but that it doesn't justify her neglecting her sister, the person who is literally sacrificing herself for her. I never saw Edwina as a kid, but even if she was, I don't think having empathy and care for a sibling is beyond the reach of children. The problem for me is not that she clings to Anthony (how is she supposed to know about Kathony?) or gets angry over Kate's betrayal (that's *super* normal and I was actually looking forward to it!) but the fact that she never thinks about Kate and neither does her mom. Like ever. Until the last episode. The script also doesn't help because she talks about Kate living through her and making all the decisions for her but she's the one who wanted to go after Anthony despite Kate's objection so it was all her decision haha I can see what they wanted to do (Edwina actually showing resentment for having to marry in the first place, and not about Anthony at all) but the execution was bad and just made it all worse. To be honest they should have really cut all boring side stories and fixed the Sharma family mess instead. I would have preferred that to more Kathony scenes!

Yeah I read the books after watching the season and really liked the changes 😅 the one thing i might have kept was Kate's trauma + background, but otherwise this season was immaculate

the readers are HATING this season but they're biased. i watched the season then read the book. edwina is dull as hell and some of the plot being transferred to screen would be reallyyyy cheesy and cringe. i like them both for different reasons

Well yeah, kinda. And it’s not that I don’t like season 2, I just prefer season 1 and the book much more. I feel like the changes to the story was one step forward and two steps back. The pro is that it added A LOT of drama which was entertaining. The cons is that made shipping them much harder and it made Kate and Anthony kind of unlikable. He’s cruel and an idiot and she’s such a lying little monster. Like the amount of times Edwina was all like ”I love him, I wanna marry him sm…” and Kate just stood there and did nothing. Just ugh, they pissed me off sm. And why. The. Hell. Did Anthony propose? It makes my blood boil just thinking about it. They were stupid, unlikable and sooo annoying. Not to mention they practically ruined the library scene and I adored that scene in the book. All of this makes it seem like I hated it but I didn’t, it was decent enough. I just hope they don’t make too many changes for next season.

Personally, I’ve read the books, and to me this is a completely different story, save for a couple essential plot events. So, I love this season for what it is, and I love the book too. Do I wish they’d done a couple things differently? Sure, but the writers are taking their creative licensing seriously, so I can’t complain too much. It’s simply different, a very loose adaptation; I don’t think it’s fair to compare the two because of that. I will say, however, that my chief complaint is: I hate what they’re doing to Penelope’s storyline/character. I love that we get to see more of her, but the writers are turning her into someone a bit sinister, which is simply not who she is in the books.

Don't agree. If anything, I find the acting a little more strident than that in Season One. And someone had commented that Regé-Jean Page made a better leading man than Anthony Bailey. I like the latter as an actor, but I have to agree about Page.

In fairness to S1 crew … they set the scene for extra budget .. extra cinematic stuff etc etc towards S2 .. with the aim of ramping up the overall quality & intensity I guess 🤷🏽‍♀️

Book: 💗 Show: Hot chemistry, some good scenes, beautiful costumes, but the love triangle and the drama was horrible.

Anthony was selfish, arrogant, and always feel that he's right. But after he ruined his wedding with Edwina, and making Kate almost die because of Accident. He eventually realize his mistakes and said *"It's all my fault"* . He also said *"I will humble myself"* after being such an Arrogant and stubborn person before. He finally got his redemption and *CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT*

But it also hurts my soul that Daphne just gets to go around acting like she is the expert on true love now. Because there is no way I can truly see her and Simon's relationship as being true love after what she did and the way the show handled it.

Also, perhaps on what Miss Eloise may be up to at the same time? Then Season 5 will be Eloise realizing what she's been missing. :D I'm glad they introduced certain characters for Season 5 already....

Hope they recast him...he's just not leading man material imo.
