Templates was how I learned hand-stitching back in the late 80's Machine quilting was just coming out and was sort of clunky still. Kimberly Jolly from Fat Quarter shop does excellent tutorials on machine piecing and I love the modern techniques now.

I actually made it and liked it. I don’t really like templates but I understood why they were important in this particular pattern. I loved the material and definitely think it’s a good value.

A beginner sewist may find this 2nd tier fabric ok to use, some of the prints were cute. I like table runners for my hutch and sofa table. And the price was lower than most.

Glad I saw your unboxing! I’m not even tempted to get their subscription box. The fabric had a sheen to it when you were holding it up and sounded very stiff. I would never use templates.

Oh Andrea, great video and opening but wow lady, you should wear red & white more often, definitely your look! I'm with you, I HATE, HATE, HATE TEMPLATES and actively avoid any pattern that suggests that I get a pen instead of a rotary cutter! lol aww heck no! 🤣🤣

Thank you for your comments on the Mrs. Quilty subscription. I was extremely disappointed in what I received. First, after watching all the ads for brightly colored pincushions, image my dismay at finding a dull, gray one. Then like you, I was surprised at the stiffness of the fabric. Not to mention the material was my least favorite color in all the world! One month was enough for me and I cancelled the subscription. You at least confirmed a lot of my same feelings. 💜

I just got mine today and am not happy with templates. I'm a beginner and would much rather have the measurements to cut with better instructions. The quality of the fabric is fine but I don't really love the color choices.

I think they meant you needed a total or 3 yards in length for the binding. I use 2.5 inches bindings. So it would be 2.5 inches by 3 yards or 108 inches. If fabrics is 40 inches you would 3 strips of bindings sewn to together to get your length. So 3 strips × 2.5 inches only equals 7.5 inches total for bindings fabric. I hope that makes sense but I agree the binding Yardage didn't make sense. This box is a no for me but thanks for sharing.

My sister ordered this box, she didnt want it & gave it to me. i will try and make something out of it. I like the pin cushion thou, but I have to downsize the band. Should i prewash the fabric beforehand?

I have to agree with you about both the fabric and templates. I see no reason to use templates for those basic blocks. Ain't nobody got time for that...pardon my grammar 😂🤣😂🤣😂

This box seems like to me was made by someone who don’t quilt, hence the templates and no cutting instructions. Would explain the three yards for binding, someone who does not quilt will not know about making strips and joining them together to make the binding. They expect you to cut one full strip from the three yards. I’m curious how they explain to attach the binding. Thanks for the unboxing, I know to skip this one.

I don’t templates either. That’s too time consuming to measure out the template and determine how to rotary cut it. I just don’t have that kind of time. Loved your honest evaluation and always love your videos.

I got it thinking it was well priced. Cancelled the day I got my first box. The fabric was a bunch of awful purples, not a pretty purple. There was only one I liked, but it was so thin and not quality fabric. The directions weren’t great. I used the fabric to make something that folded so the thin layer didn’t mess with my item. I can’t even use that pin cushion cause it’s so big, and I’ve got so many it’s not worth fixing.

I liked the green floral fabric, but otherwise not really my jam either. I agree I am not a fan of templates. I do like the table runner pattern but I would make it with other fabrics and with cutting directions.

I’ve not got the sew what box so I can’t speak on that. I wouldn’t get this though as they use just templates and that’s kinda if an old Fashion way. Most modern patterns call for cutting with a rotary blade.

The outside of the box is cute along with the pincushion but I don’t do templates either. I need cutting instructions. I’d be concerned about the quality of the fabric too. This would be a pass for me. See you next time.

I have seen this box before. I think if one of the box stores had a box, it would be like this. I am not a fan of the cheaper fabrics, so this box is not my jam. If I was in love with the pattern, I would do the math to figure out the rotary cutting requirements, but that is not my jam either. It looks like this company gets their own fabric created at a low price point. I am willing to pay more for quality.

I'm not impressed. Would not purchase that box. I'm with you about using templates. I use my templates when I want to fussy cut only. Otherwise I agree with you just measure and cut out what you need. Thanks for sharing and you are the best!! Love your smile!! Laurie

Maybe the fabric is flat fold. I’ve received some from another kit. It’s very stiff. Supposedly the sizing washes out but I ended up throwing the fabric away and replacing it with quality fabric. I’d never do that runner using templates. That’s makes no sense. I’ll pass on this subscription. Love your orange kitty.

I ordered one box but found the fabric to be of lesser quality. I liked the colors and patterns of the yardage but the gray goods was very inferior to quilt shop fabric. Not for me.

Is it their own in house made fabric? I tend to be a bit leery about that kind of thing. I'm at the point in my sewing journey where I really only want to stock my stash with good quality fabric. Including the templates would be fine for those people who wanted them IF they also included cutting instructions for the rest of us. It's so strange that they didn't.

I just got my Mrs. Quilty box and it has the same pattern in it as yours. Not very impressed with the table runner design so will find a different pattern for the fabric I have. So far I've seen two different centers of the table runner but that's it. But overall I will cancel my subscription to Mrs. Quilty

As one Arkansan to another, I was not impressed with the pattern or lack of instructions. I think the fabric was probably worth the price but not in my taste, I would not want to purchase this, it was lacking in my opinion but to each his own.

Not impressed. The size of the blocks should be manditory. Cutting instructions as well as the templates should bemandatory. Not everyone wants to use templates.
