I agree that its dumb for them to say that about you Joe. However, lets not be mistaken here: Woke culture has made everyone absolutely terrified of criticising a show full of brown people, because any legit criticism is deemed racist. This show currently sits at a 94% on rotten tomatoes. You gave a more honest review...do you think the others did?

Joe, honestly the people down voting you are not worth the breath. I am not a huge super hero fan, but I watched your review per usual and it honestly seems just as fresh as all your other reviews. I do not see why people thinking you are simping, when you all equally call out the bad parts. Sometimes people just want to be angry, or maybe there is some reddit agenda to hate this show. Who knows, but I say do not sweat the random heat. Just let them rage and be fools alone.

People don't want the core of who a character is changed. Iron Man IS Tony Stark, if you take him out of the suit and put someone else it, it isn't Iron Man anymore. Same with Thor. He is based off of a Norse God that dates back over a thousand years, that's his name as well, not some title. When you replace Thor with a female character it's not Thor anymore, it's someone else. You want to stay true to your core Characters, stop changing who they are in the name of diversity and create NEW Characters with their own abilities. If they don't sell then there is no market for what you created, and they should be abandoned. You don't double down on them and create more. Those core Characters were successful because of who they are, if that isn't diverse enough, well that's just too bad.

Honestly, it should have been an animated series in the art style and tone of the first 10 issues which was actually really unique and endearing. Could have been something special.

I believe on the "because of Mr.Fantastic" more.. than the budget, they can do Hippopotamus and giant Crocodile.. . it also feels confusing (maybe for not fans of the comics), she is called Ms. Marvel but she has stretchy thing... . Also Inhumans ain't "properly" introduced yet, I think Xmen comes first then they try it a 2nd time for the Inhumans.. so re-inventing and mashing happened, and you got the cosmic powers.. also she isn't too popular so she is also in a series rather than a movie.. . she is now a cocktail of a character.

Yeah, I think the MCU fatigue is real at this point. Even when it's decent enough as a show, I'm just kinda done with the MCU formula, you know? Plus, I can feel Disney's "family friendly" influence seeping in more and more. See: cutting away from almost all of the fights in Moon Knight. I think Disney+ is turning out to be a net detriment to the franchise. Ah, well.

@Oddwolf 799 to be fair you named 2 out of what, 20 movies at this point? I agree that many differ (Like how Ant Man was set up like a ‘heist movie’ or Cap 2 a ‘spy thriller’) but the overall formula still works out mostly the same from movie to movie. I’ve never had any real issue with it, but after awhile even if it’s good, it just doesn’t excite the same way anymore. It’s like diminishing returns on the thrill of Marvel movies because they’re so common now. Plus, so many have raised the bar at this point that even OK movies feel bad by comparison and throw off how most people judge them. We’re just so used to great at this point that it’s harder and harder for these projects to live up to our expectations unless the character involved is a personal favorite.

Same feelings, MCU stinks at this point. Will only watch Guardians cuz it's great on it's own. I mean there are no more space adventures anyway, and I like the humor and the dialogues.

Antman and Guardians 1 are one of the best movies in the mcu in my opinion.

As someone with Muslim parents sadly that explanation between a party and a con is basically useless. Once they get that idea of a con is just a party it's over, no amount of proof will work other than their close friends telling them so. I was really impressed with the cinematography and editing, it was the most unique out of all the marvel shows so far, I get what you mean its for a bit of a younger audience, I personally enjoyed it and related to her character a lot

This. As a black man I love seeing black characters in fiction but they have to be cool first. If the only thing they have is that they're black, then why would ANYONE of any race for that matter care about them? Static is my favorite superhero bc they him a cool character in the DCAU first and foremost. The same way that Batman Beyond is one of my favorites. I can't begin to say how much I love Terry's Batman. Will Friedle was perfect for that role lol

i gotta say it doesnt explain it well. for how much screen time the parents have, they come off as just boring white restrictive parents rather than deep and complex immigrant parents. not that it matters to the enjoyment of the show, at the end of the day, none of what they do is immersion breaking and it's used only to drive the plot forward, the parents arent the plot so they dont need to be that well developed. but they dont have a strong personality like every other character on the show is and its disappointing for how much time is spent listening to them be the most boring bad guys you can imagine.

It was a cost decision entirely. Doing a (good / convincing) stretch effect of a human requires CONSIDERABLE more rendering time and skill to pull off well without looking cheap. In contrast by changing her powers to just be glowing light effects, these are just basically particle effects, which are DRASTICALLY easier to perform both in terms of animator skill level and rendering time. Giving her stretchy powers would have significantly increased the difficulty of making her powers look good and increased production time because those complex renders take a long time to do compared to most other visual effects. This is information told to me from a family member who works as a visual effects artist in the TV industry, he is 99% sure this is why her powers were changed.

Some do Huntress and Daredevil come to my mind, their both catholic. But it's not an important part of their character. They use their religion to keep them going if they begin to doubt themselves as crime fighters. But I guess this is show is just going to use it to beat over our heads with it.

I’m Puerto Rican & even I can relate to a lot of the things that Kamala has experienced in her life. When I saw Kamala’s mom make all that food for Bruno in the first episode, I immediately thought of my grandmother because she does the same thing. Same with the gossiping aunts! My aunts are very gossipy, & my mom is an aunt & even she gossips & talks shit, so I’ve seen this firsthand.

The family portions are my favorite part but the writing is pretty bad with the jokes and inconsistencies (not the family hypocrisy from the parents, I believe that is intended)

it's all kind of mediocre and an insult to the intelligence of teens. I want her to talk to her parents about her gay friends, see the true colors of modern islam.

@zen view I'm a 39 year old straight guy and I loved it. It's not a matter of age, gender, or sexuaity; it's about enjoyable content. Joe and the rest were never interested in this series from the teaser trailer and it's largely because they enjoy the more old school Superhero tropes like a Superman that can do anything and everything. It's kind of telling that a character needs to be "relatable" for you to watch it, which just keeps recycling the same old stories with the same characters.

For Kenobi there were actual instances of fan racism towards one of the actresses. There was an actual reason for Disney to say “Don’t be racist”, regardless of how big of a hypocrite that made them look (removing John Boyega in China).

I mean... The trailer alone already made me think "this isn't for me, but I'll definitely watch this just in case something vital happens". It's a teen, coming of age story. Not really my thing since my teenage years are almost half a lifetime ago now. I've been having this nagging feeling that Disney's going to divide their characters to specifically target different age demographics. They're obviously setting up for a Young Avengers line for younger audiences with Ms. Marvel, America Chavez, and possibly Kate Bishop and Spider-Man. The supernatural side with Moon Knight and Doctor Strange with, likely, Blade and potentially Black Knight rounding that side out, looks to be aiming for more mature audiences. And then we have the main Avengers line in between. I'm honestly all for this if that's what they're aiming for. It's not really a bad excuse for boring/bad writing though. But Ms. Marvel, from the trailer alone already looked like your atypical teen series. I'm not expecting anything beyond that, but I am hoping they surprise me before the series ends.

She was involved in bringing everyone that was snapped back. Obviously we saw the movie and can take that w/ a grain of salt but doesn't change that the population only knows the basics. In terms of super powered females it's her and Wanda, and one has a lot more baggage in terms of how the public perceives them.

People are actually braindamaged. There's nothing in this review that makes him seem accomodating. They even said their differences in the review, Joe likes these stories, Alex and OJ don't think it's for them. It's really that simple, there's no conspiracy about Joe accomodating or appeasing.

I hope they don't continue with that idea.

They have meaning and purpose. Do you believe target audiences don’t exist all together? You probably don’t need to answer that. Every product has an intended audience and should be taken into account, no? A creator will have an expectation of its demographic and how it should ideally react to a product. What about this show compared to perhaps my favourite shown rn - The Boys. Both are cut from the same cloth, both super hero as its main theme. However, with that in mind do you think these shows share the exact same audiences? Doubt it. Yes, anyone can be interested in anything - but that doesn’t by default immediately mean that we should. You know that. Media is for everyone but not *all* of media is for everyone. There are some products you probably shouldn’t consume (either figuratively or literally) and don’t share I bet? He mentions both an age demographic and cultural demographic. And he’s not wrong. I’m sure that it does draw a number from those demographics. Damn, the ip even drew creators of the same cultural background to create the show itself. I’m certain that Disney/marvel even intended this themselves. Excuse me for the text wall. Well she was a mutant in the xmen so obviously they won’t introduce her yet. Also btw she actually appeared in a comic with Kamala khan pretty recently so some chance we will be seeing her if they do new xmen.
