It's finally here! The UK update is LIVE! Let's take a look around London with ALL my settings on ultra! Powered by Stormforce I9 10900K, RTX 3090. Thanks for watching folks!
I never thought I’d see this level of detail in a flight simulator. From my early days back in the 80’s playing with vector graphics this is truly sublime. I’m from a time where I can appreciate the work and effort that goes into this level of programming and I’m very thankful to Asobo et al .
Exactly that Andy! I think there are two kinds of simmers, us guys who have seen where it's come from, and new comers that expect too much. Take care :)
i guess Im randomly asking but does anyone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Axton Sutton Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Looks amazing...I am brought back to the time when I lived there (1999). Isn’t it fantastic that we can fly around the whole world in this sim and feel so much joy - especially in the time we live in right now. Loved the colour of the London wheel at night. Absolutely brilliant. Looking forward to your tour de UK, Steve 👍
Hi Steve, amazing Update. Took a tour this evening: Cliffs of Dover, London, Liverpool and to some Islands in the North East. Amazing. Realy love that flights. Take care my friend.
I totally fell in love with London since our holiday in the summer of 2022. And now to be able to fly above this wonderful city and see all the details is really really awesome
"it's not a walking simulator 2020, it's a flight simulator 2020" Best statement since release of the sim! Like you, I can't understand people complaining about some details in the scenery. We can be so happy about this sim and it will get better and better...for free! 👍
Very, very, very amazing! Top marks to the Asobo/Orbx and Others for bringing the UK to us. Having previously lived in East Ham and then Canvey Island before coming here to NZCH, I am so looking forward to 'tripping out' from Southend. Not by any stretch of the imagination a criticism, but has HMS Belfast been moved from the Pool of London? Thanks for the vid! Take care and stay well. 🍻
That is beautiful ! I am all up to date, Yoke gets here tomorrow (supposedly) and I won't know where to start now after watching that ! Ahhhhh, (Flight Training) probably my best bet ! lol Thanks Steve for the work (FUN) you put in ! ;)
Absolutely stunning! At the moment I’m waiting for my new graphics card, which should be able to produce these beautiful images as well, and I cannot wait for it to arrive! Thanks very much Flight Sim Guy!
Great video. Not been to London yet. Going from the Flight Simulator forums I was under the impression the photogrammetry had been a disaster with all melted buildings but your video proves that a lot of people do complain about nothing! I spent an hour flying around my home county of Devon. The elevation and terrain are significantly improved, and my hometown of Torbay looks much better, especially the coast. I can't wait to properly start exploring now, I want to carry out a proper UK tour over the next few weeks.
Why would people complain when there’s no reason? On My PC, Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX5600, 2GB, fibre internet, it does look terrible. Maybe people with Nvidia RTX 3000 series and the latest Intel CPU’s don’t have problems? Fact is that MSFS performs at random and still does have to improve at this point.
@@jpht1964 I'm guessing some users must have had had vastly different experiences based on their bandwidth or something. Perhaps certain servers were worse than others?
Thanks mate for this video ! Very nice and beautiful Tour, well presented with highligthing well designed Landmarks and Points of interest ! and I am waiting for my Alienware Aurora R11 with RTX 3090 in April to enjoy awesome sceneries with full details and in VR mode ! Good Job !
I just got my G2 thanks to your constant temptations. I have to say the clarity is brilliant. I'm still tuning but I had one of the most amazing clear experiences. I'm using a 2080ti so I'm hoping I can one day get my hands on an MSRP 3090.
Yes very impressed - POI's are amazing, ground textures and elevation much improved all around, Out Skerries looks incredible! Photogrammetry areas are something to behold, was flying around Bristol and there are detail and density to the buildings I don't remember seeing in North American cities. Some photogrammetry areas especially the surrounds do look a little rough though and I've seen plenty of graphical anomalies but overall a truly fantastic update, well done Asobo and its partners!
Just found out today as well Orbx will be updating London Landmarks and should be ready for a release (it will be a different update to before but free for existing Landmark owners) in a week or so. However, they are also working on something much bigger for London - not sure what that is - how exciting!
That is STAGGERING! A pity my pc is so old now that I can't run it, hopefully next year - saving up for a beast. Thanks for doing the tour, looking forward to the rest of your videos.
Just recently downloaded via my Xbox monthly pass. I upgraded my PCand now run an i710700 and a GTX 3080. On ultra, 3440x1440, I’m getting 40-50 FPS, yup you need a beast of PC to run it.
Awesome channel my friend, cheers from across the Channel hehe (I'm in Paris), you've got me really excited, I just bought all the parts for my new PC, sadly not even close to yours in terms of specs but I did manage to get a Ryzen 5600x & a 3070 FE. Hopefully I get 60 FPS in 1440p, I guess I can forget about vr until my next upgrade; anyways keep up the awesome work!
Great video Steve! The UK really is something special! I've beenhaving fun exploring it in VR for the last couple of days. Just now I've been flying around Manchester a bit, and it looks great! The clouds have also been upgraded/fixed. Lightining used to leave this weird grainy effect, and guess what.. it now looks much better! As for the people complaining about the artifacts of photogrammetry.. well if they can come up with something that looks better and equally representative of the area, I'd love to find out! Until that day, I guess we'll have to make do with photogrammetry :) Can't wait for your UK tour! Will you be flying the Spit as well as the Arrow?
I'm just blown away. I owned an Acorn Electron back in 1986. I had a Phantom Fighter Jet game ( cassette tape ) that basically showed the landscape ahead as a green horizontal line.
Nice one dude I’m downloading now. I’m down in Kent, feel free to come try my yaw vr motion sim setup when all this lockdown is over 👍 enjoyed sebs show the other day
My daughter is going to flip when she gets to see this flight sim in VR. She used to do things by the book in FSX But this is out of this world. Thanks for the vids Steve it's a great bonus as we can't get out. My only regret is that I couldn't get my hands on a G2 6 or 7 weeks ago I would have saved a packet by not getting the Quest2.
Glad st paul’s is fixed. That is my “area”. Such a shame that I only managed to score RTX 3070 while actually targetting RTX 3080, but even with that, such an upgrade compared to GTX 960
I'm afraid CHOICE doesn't enter the equation...you take what you can grab, and pay handsomely. I did manage to get a RTX 3090, and am to embarrassed to say for how much, and yes, didn't have a choice either, all gone in over a minuite?. RTX 3070 is no slouch.
Absolutely awesome, just updated mine now and going to do the same as you and have a flight on my monitor first, I'm still struggling to get a decent VR performance with my i7 and 1080ti, followed your setup guides and researched it, even with my open xr render at 50 and my render scale at 50 with low settings, still getting a lot of judder and missed frames, gonna keep troubleshooting it and see if it's any better after the update but for now I'll just enjoy a flight on my monitor 😁
This is one of those games that people with similar systems are getting very different results.i have a 2080ti and g2,it looks great but i cant get it running smooth
@@robertmcmahon4549 yeah everything else is running great on my g2, this is definately a tricky game to run, my setup was similar to Steve's old pc but he had an i5, so definitely mixed results
Love this new update! I was able to play for an hour last night after it finally finished installing which took me about 5 or 6 hours. For some reason it stuttered a lot more for me though than it is for you when loading new chunks but maybe that was my internet messing up. Hopefully the orbx addon gets updated soon for this with lots of improvements to make it even more incredible. Disappointed they didn't model the dartford crossing but at least a bridge is there now in the base game, but orbx addon includes it. When I tested it though on the themes lead up into London there were some water height issues where visible seams of water were higher in parts than others and you could see under the water plane. Is that there for you? It was the only thing really putting me off. Otherwise London looks great now overall. Also, no more Buckingham council estate
First thing I did after the update was fly the Mooney in VR with my new Reverb G2 I received yesterday. Live weather, rainy and not the greatest visibility but still flew VFR. It looked sweet.
I just got my reverb g2 aswell and its a stuttering mess right now. Trying to troubleshoot it but no luck yet. Luky to get 24 fps plus the teleporting looking around. Rig is a cpu 10900k gpu 3090 32gb ram
It looks fantastic! I always thought this sim has much more potential than what most set ups can reach, but I never expected it to reach that level. I feel like it will last more than a decade and I can't wait to experience it at different levels of hardware upgrades during that period of time. Btw, a small note on the performance of your PC. I see you are using it with a low resolution of 1080p. That is very forgiving. And the fact you can barely hit 50 fps still shows how hard this sim is to run.
What happened to the battle ship by tower bridge, i noticed when i was flighting last night, i also had problems with putting back 3rd party software which stalled the program ,but in saying that its great, i flow around last night and didn’t get to bed until this morning ,there were guys crashing into tower bridge, never seen so many planes , it all looked great at night.
Hi ! Great video ! I couldn't stand and did a wonderful flight from a small airport west to London in a rainy weather. Flew over London... smooth rendering at first but pretty jerky at the end over London.... I also see many like-big cranes almost every where in "downtown"... My rig 5900x, MSI 3090 Suprim (I don't dare saying how much i payed for it either ! ;) ) RAM 64 Go 3600 Hz and the Reverb G2. I've scrolled down all the page without finding an answer to a, may be silly, question: How do you check your FPS in VR? I can't see dev mod overlay neither MSI after burner. What tool do you use? Many thanx for the video !
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video. Remember somewhere like London is the true PC breaker. There is a menu option to display frame rate when dev tool is enabled. I show this in my next video after this one. Cheers and thanks again
Fabulous and thank you👏👏👏👏👏 looking forward to the UK tour . Please don't forget Newcastle upon Tyne EGNT . I am sure the bcc doesn't know of our existence 😡
I like the fact that Asobo is a French company. For the first time Europe looks as real like it never looked when MS Flightsim was programmed in the USA. And the French guys do so much better. I have flown over the Scottish Highlands yesterday, and you can realise every single part of it. I almost got the impression that this was a real flight... Awesome job, Asobo!
Thanks for the great London video... deciding whether to go for the Xbox or a new PC to run the sim.... The PC may cost a chunk of money to be able to run with the graphics looking this good.
IIRC most of the free scenery are imported from Google Maps. These sceneries are not optimise for simulators and have quite significant performance impact.
You should try a small slow plane like the aerolite 103. The visibility is amazing. You can even look down through the frame, great for vr. It can cruise at 40 knots.
Off Topic, but had a question for you VRFS Guy... I was doing a 3 hr flight and I thought would be nice to be able to open a window or tablet within VR and read PDFs or listen to music while in flight during those long moments between takeoff and landing. Do you know of such a tool / mod?
Sort of ok above 1,000 feet but take a look at Blackfriars Station by the River - it's melted along with the Barclays Tower at Canary Wharf which you didn't show, flying cars around Farringdon and what happened to HMS Belfast? There's also a duplicate river running down Lee High Road in Lewisham.....and it's slow and stuttery - apart from that all ok!
The ORBX London City Airport add on is well worth the money. Their general London scenery pack clashes with the Asobo update in places. There are two London Eyes for example. Hopefully, they retool that to mesh better with the Asobo base scenery in the near future.
Wow. I have to be the first to admit that this is utterly impressive on a top rig. I have been very negative towards MSFS2020 and how it performs - but your video has impressed me so much to ditch my 1080ti and go for a 3090 and move from XP to FS2020!
Hello just been watching your video not too sure if you can call this update a UK update more like a London and an elevation data update?. Just flew over Birmingham city centre and it is worse now than what it was before the update?. So without flying every inch of the UK I would say other cities are not faring any better.
I live in London. I noticed that Battersea Power Station is missing in my update? Otherwise beautiful. I only have a Intel 6700K and GTX980ti 32GB Ram, but can get into ultra settings without impacting to much on frame rate. I had to uninstall Orbx London Scenery, as there are scenery conflicts, until Orbx does an update. Stunning and ALL free!
Hello, I have watched many of your videos, and I love them, but I would like to ask your opinion. Which of the two simulators do you like the best? I have X Plane 11.55, and I would consider Microsoft, but I am a little hesitant. I would value your opinion
Hi David. It depends what you prefer in a flight simulator. If you like General Aviation, VR, travelling the world and experiencing amazing dynamic weather. MSFS is hard to beat. I do feel though, X Plane has a better flight model.
What res are you running this at in 2D? I'm getting around 23 FPS and it's a stuttery mess in the same scenario as you. 3090, i910900K at 5.2 GHZ and 64GB od 3600 DDR 4. I am at 3440x1440 EDIT just saw your settings later in the vid 1920x1080
Hi. Where did you buy your new PC? can you give me a link and tell me the model name? Thanks. I'm after a new PC since I cannot buy an HP Reverb G2!!! EDIT: I've just checked and I can buy the G2 WITHOUT the Controllers. Should I wait until they are supplying it WITH Controllers?
