Just joined ARD air on Fseconomy! Been watching all your videos on this and onair. I wanted to say please don't kick me as I'm working on a boat for 15 more day and can't play atm but will be active and excited to start when I get back! Joined to get familiar with the system first.
As an addendum: I crunched numbers: The payout for a single passenger is 1013 + 50.5/((-17.4-distance)/406) What this means is that while a 50nm flight pays approx. 700, and a 100nm flight pays 830, a 1000nm flight pays just 990, while taking 10 times as long. If you want to optimize, you'd have to take your takeoff/landing times into account, and your speed. So you can determine your best hourly profit distance. Then you just have to find these assignments 😉
NOTICE: Due to technical issues, new user registrations are temporarily disabled. Expect several days to address the issue. (Posted 29 Aug) Guess we can't try it for a while.
they're putting in a new registration system to auto register people. apparently before they had to manually accept your registration and will all the new/returning players in the space thanks to fs2020 apparently they were overwhelmed with new registrations and password reset requests. Hopefully it will be back up soon. You can always do the 1 week free trial of OnAir Company Manager in the meantime.
Hi watched lots of your videos over the years always enjoyed your passion for aviation and how much you love simulators. I just found out about fs economy ths week not sure how I missed it. In the past have tried VA and fs passengers all of them good but none captured my imagination for long. Fs economy is so clever its scary. They have captured the essence of aviation and converted it into binary. I'm hooked. Your video was so helpful. Really pointed me into the right direction in regards to multiple assignments. It is restricting as the minute using Msfs but still great fun
Hey man, I really appreciate your time and effort you put into these videos. Like many others, I have recently purchased FS2020. It is the first flight sim I have played and I love it. I recently learned about FSEconomy and it seems like a great third party program. So thanks for taking your time out of your day to give us these nice bits of information. Will you be releasing a video show how to run and own a business etc?
Careful, I find FSE very addictive. It might just be me. I am always looking to maximize profit, and trying to get my own plane. This makes me fly direct GPS routes, and forget about correct approaches, ATC, IFR, etc. Should come with a disclaimer ;) btw, I have the impression the 'rich' players are pushing up the price of the few MSFS planes that come on the virtual market. They know everyone wants a B350, now MSFS has been released.
@@sixpackpilot well if it's addictive that tells me it is good. Jokes on those guys though. I don't want an A380!! I haven't been approved just yet though so waiting around for that. How long did it take you to get your own racket built up?
@@gmrryan5574 Well there's the rub. Getting a good profitable plane is quite expensive. I am at 60,000 after a week flying in MSFS . It will take some time to be able to purchase a Cessna 208 (~850,000) or Beechcraft King Air350. (850,000-1,000,000) . Do the maths. I proposed to join Kiwi' s ARD Air group to join forces and pool money and planes. Just my idea, or it would take forever. Timesharing is best i.m.o., just like IRL.
Me too. I would have probably had more interest in that game had I known about this kind of thing long ago. I only ever knew about (and owned) the Air Hauler 3rd party addon and it barely worked on windows 7 back when I tried it. That was before the steam version of FSX came out so the whole game barely worked.
I knew about it, I just never thought I'd be into it. Let me tell ya, I am blown away. I know it's an old "game" and the UI sucks, but man, it has taken my flying to the next level. I used to get bored on "Where should I fly now..." With FSE, that's never an issue. Just chase the virtual $$!!
I made a program years ago in python that would extract all the data in about 3 minutes and list the most profitable area's based on aircraft availability, total trip distance you set, and jobs, as well as maximizing dollar per flight hour (since you are limited flight hours if you use time acceleration). HOWEVER. One thing I will say, don't chase the money, especially with MSFS2020, the game looks gorgeous, and really it should be more about the flying. Just start looking for jobs or find someone to fly with/for and take yourself out of your comfort zone, mix in some VATSIM (though I'm unsure of the current state of it, haven't flow it since before 2018, when it was a bit of a shitshow) or PilotsEdge if there's coverage. Challenge yourself, make VFR or IFR flight plans, calculate the fuel needed, do specific routes no just directly airport to airport. When you start chasing the money, you end up in situations where you are flying really odd legs flying really odd aircraft, which might be your thing, but I found it more like grinding in an MMO and it became more of a chore than anything else. My goal is once VR is finally released for FS2020, I'll be getting it (refuse to buy until it supports VR), then I'll probably be going in with the goal of setting up some FBO's in the Northeast USA.
Yup, money chasing is a big issue - finding myself doing that in MSFS-FSE already and really time compression does not play well with streaming terrain, even at 4x my sim ends up looking like FSX pretty quickly :/ In saying that the Citation CJ-4 (Citation X in FSE) holds way more cargo than it should and can make big $$$ (lucked across a $25k 1hr 5000kg flight the other night)
@@kiwiaz100 just enjoy it for the fact you can fly to new places and see new things. I don't really look at the money now. Saying that I will still take as much as the ac will hold.
For beginners just renting building things up stick with Cessna's they are intuitive I do like the 208 myself as I used to work for FedEX and DHL in their command centres, I do enjoy that Castaway movie as the movie does show how busy and nuts and actual airport mail hub actually is; though - it was Xmas time its not like that all the time. I'd say 50% of the time with ramping up to 100% capacity during holidays (we all hated this period of time as we all had to work alot harder for the same amount of pay that said there were bonuses for performing - not missing work and as a group reducing deficiency mistakes etc. Close bracket. ) Also don't use TIME EXCELLERATION I think its horseshit. This is a SIM and if you don't have time to fly then pick short flights. Simple. Enjoy the scenery, bring some realism into it as much as you can without being annoying (I do a cold start once a day but after that just ctl-E it you know? Cause I'm not a pilot just enjoy the flying aspect but do what you want..) and yea listen to this guy's advice. `cheers ~~
Thanks a lot for the tips! This series is a great introduction to FSEconomy. I think it's a great plugin for experienced pilots to get some more gameplay from the sim, really cool. Once I'm more comfortable flying around on different planes, I want to try it. What happens if something goes wrong (I crash, I quit the game, the game crashes, etc)? Can I "restart" the mission, do I suffer a penalty, do masked men knock at my door with baseball bats? *edit* ah, and what happens if I accidentally rent/buy a plane I don't have access to in the sim? Can I not start the jobs I've picked up, or could I fly a different plane "as if" it was the one I bought? If i can't start the jobs, can I cancel them, and if I bought the plane, can I sell it?
My suggestion would be not to "chase the money" for money's sake. It's ok if you want to buy a plane, but the money itself doesn't do anything. I'd advise to figure out which plane you have the most fun with, use these tips and save for it, if you want to buy it. Then, just fly where you want to fly. You most probably won't make boatloads of money, especially since you'll sometimes find only 3 or 4 jobs to an interesting location, but it will pay for the running costs, and you'll start building your bank account.
Can I join ARD Air? Two reasons: 1. I like NZ. 2. Shared aircraft ownership and purchase. If we 'grind' together as a group for a MSFS B350 or C208, they can be acquired much quicker. It would be like timesharing aircraft. We would have to determine how many hours you are allowed to use the aircraft per week/month, so not one player flies the B350 all the time. I have a DR400 I can add to the (shared) fleet of ARD Air from my side.
Hey, you are more than welcome to join ARD Air. I personally am not that keen to grind for one of the larger aircraft (been there done that and don't have the time to invest).
another great vid buddy. very helpful. Just one question!, if setting up multiple drops like on the way to the final destination, do you just land, park, put brake on then take it off again and taxi to runway and fly out to the next airport and it sends the jobs down to the server the same as just flying to one place?
Almost, you will need to start the flight in the client again also. As long as you have a job loaded that departs from the airport you are currently located at, you don't need to re-rent the aircraft, just simply put on parking brake, confirm (message will pop up) that the flight has been completed, restart the flight in the client and away you go. No need to restart the simulator or anything like that. Obviously if you are using GPS you'll need to put the new destination in there.
Excellent content mate. Subbed, liked and belled. Fellow Kiwi flyer here who has used FSE for years, making a pretty penny flying the majestic q400 around Europe in PMDG. You have done a great job explaining things here. Do you find the fuel consumption estimate in FSE on the larger GA planes such as the King Air to be way wrong, had a few profitable flights go south due to running out of fuel in flight :( even with adding quite bit extra, I guess it could be my lead foot/throttle...
Awesome thanks for your support Aaron. I generally don't fly flights long enough to test fuel limits so cant really comment on that although I have heard of discrepancies in the past.
Fuel burn is almost x2 in the ka350. In fsx it was easy to adjust fuel burn I haven't looked into the folders yet on fs2020. Any time I have spare I am flying in this beautiful game
Thanks for the sub! To answer your question, not within FSE no. However in MSFS you could fly with someone else via multiplayer and they could also be completing a FSE mission so I suppose that is kind of similar
Enjoy the info. A quick question. When you rent and complete a flight at the destination do you have to return the aircraft cack to its home base or just leave it? I kinda like the idea if I have it already rented that I could pick up another job while I have it then return it.
Hey kiwi! Really appreciate the amazing content ur uploading! Some really interesting and fascinating stuff. However I’d like to ask u a question I hope u can answer. Why can’t I seem to download fseconomy? If I try to load the site it says it’s unreachable etc. Any other way I can download it? Really want to try it out!
Yeah there's an issue at the moment. FSE Facebook page explains the fix: If you are having trouble connecting to the FSE site or game world, edit your Hosts file (located in c:\windows\System32\drivers\etc in Windows 10) to include this line: 144.76.108.35 server.fseconomy.net www.fseconomy.net fseconomy.net If you're using another OS, try googling "host entry " to find out how to add the line to the file on your system. (Currently, there's an administrative issue with the domain fseconomy.net. The server is running, this ^ workaround will tell your browser and FSE client how to connect to it in spite of the problem.)
Hi, it's Andy from London here, sorry but you really have to turn up the volume, as nobody can hear you. Love the subject, but need to hear the content. Thanks
As not all the aircraft are available is MSFS2020, can you choose a similar one to complete the journey? or must it match? for example if the job calls for a TBM800, can i use the TBM930 from the sim?
I keep clicking on aircraft to find red text saying they are over their 100 hours service time and i cant fly them. very annoying. its like 80% of the time
This only theoretical isnt it? It is not like in MSFlight where the cargo or passengers affected you airplanes CG and could shift if you are flying to wild? Or reactions from passengers like screams or talking? This what i really miss from that time. And there you could just take any plane from any airport, you wamted. This is different?
Yes you are right, this is different to that. The key aspect of FSE is that it is persistent. So if someone else, say, completes a job and lands at KLAX then the next person to fly that aircraft will need to start at KLAX. FSE may or may not be your thing and that's completely fine.
But you can have another livery, change the aircraft.cfg file, and alias it into a different plane. For instance, I've aliased the TBM 930 as a TBM 850 for FSE. I fly the 930 in game, but FSE thinks I'm flying an 850. Totally legit and FSE has a list of planes that can be aliased. I chose the TBM because there's a ton of 850's out there in FSE and only sporadic 930's. The only downfall is the 850 has 6 passengers and the 930 has 7.
So, I watched your beginning tutorial videos and they were great. Thanks again for those. I remember you mentioned that if 3 passengers are going to the same place, pick up all 3 jobs and maximize your profit. Just to clarify before I start, each assignment was a separate job, 2 PAX, 2 assignments. 3 PAX, 3 assignments. One destination had 2 passengers going and another destination had 3. I double checked and made sure all assignments were accounted for before starting the flight. When I started the flight with 2 passengers, it only read 1 so the second one never completed. When I did the flight with 3 passengers, Simconnect only credited me for 2 of the passengers going there. Is there a reason why these other passenger assignments weren't read and counted? Just curious. Thanks again.
Hey there, asking as a total newb to flight simming in general, is OnAir worth the money over FSE feature-wise? Currently playing the free trial while waiting on my FSE account activation, but I'm really curious about veteran's opinion Also, are there any other add-ons focusing more on a single pilot career rather than the whole company?
There is ATP which you can find on simmarket store. This puts you in the role of pilot for real world airlines with real life flights. You get paid etc. On-air I have never looked at as FSE does most things you need.
OnAir is more aimed at a single-player experience; you can build FBOs wherever you want, change the difficulty, realism and income rate and so forth. FSE is more multiplayer aimed, with fixed settings and global player-driven markets.
I’m about to get my paws on my X Plane 11 again after a long absence. I was looking forward to trying Air Hauler 2 with it. But is it worth a buy, if I can get this one for free? Would you say that AH has advantages over FSE? Badger
Hi Grey, they are quite different and it really comes down to personal preference. Air Hauler is probably a bit more in depth and has different difficulty levels whereas FSE is quite immersive with the persistent aircraft and more of a focus on flying yourself
Thank’s KM. I “think” then, what I might do is move ahead with my plan to buy AH2 and then next year, when I finally get around to buying MFS2020, once I’ve had a chance to get the XP11 game play I didn’t get the chance to originally, which also gives MFS2020 a chance to find its feet, I’ll then play FSE with that. Checks all bases are covered?............. yup....... shiny. :)
