Yeah, so here we are..... I googled your vid, thought to myself, 33 minutes to learn how to make a flight plan... how awesome is that! NOW... 9 hours later and skippping a day from work ... I have reached the vfr section.... so here's my comment..... I HATE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW !!!!! 😃 jUST KIDDING... You smashed at least a 2 week classroom into 34 minutes...;. so yeah... Just wanted to say that I have learned so much and appreciate the time you put into sharing your knowledge!
Hi, Thanks for this - very helpful :) A couple of points of clarification / suggestions re some of the items you mentioned: - Updating Scenery Library - This needs to be done whenever airports are added to the Sim (such as with most World Updates, and some Sim updates) and if the core navdata within the game is updated (some Sim Updates) - especially if not using Navigraph data (see next point) - Advice to use Navigraph for Navaids and procedures, is only valid if you have a Navigraph subscription. Whilst the app ships with Navigraph data, it's from 2018, and the procedures are way out of date even compared to what's in the SIm. If you don't have a Navigraph subscription (which let's face it, there's not a log of point for those of us playing on console) then the correct setting to use (as long as you have been able to import data from FS) is **Do not use Navigraph database** as this will then get all data from the Sim imported data... which should then match with in game... - Whilst the Navigraph data may be better, the built in data for airports imported from FS2020, is woefully incomplete, especially for smaller airports, and airports outside of the US, which means searching via city / region / etc. will often give a subset of the airports (or airstrips) actually available. - Weather data availability is often inconsistent outside of US, especially for smaller airports / less dense areas. Often data can be days out of date, if available at all - Weather data with live weather in Sim... can be way different to actual live weather coming from RL... because... Microsobo... so sometimes it's an idea to check in game as well... - For VFR flight planning, it can be really helpful to change the theme used in order to get a better feel for the topography. Personally I recommend using a combination of OpenTopoMap, Google Maps Terrain / Satellite and OpenStreetMap, especially if planning a route in remote hilly areas
Your welcome and happy it helped . It is a very useful application. Now with a little nav map VR tool, it's really powerful. I just did a video on that recently. It's for VR n monitor.
Love your videos as usual. Watched part 1 and this one. I use Litte Navmap now as well as have a subscription to Navigraph. I have thought about getting some of these paid addons you reviewed here, but I am waiting for the drop of Navigraph Charts 8 coming very soon. I am hoping they really start incorporating a lot of these programs into theirs. I am sure you will do a review on the product once it's released. It looks very good by the trailer. Thanks again as always.
I'm pretty new to MSFS, but I definitely want to learn flight planning. LNM looks like a great tool, and you are a great teacher. Thanks! Frankly, with all the features and complexity, I can't believe it's freeware. If it works out for me the way I think it will, I'll definitely donate to the developer. Work like this should be rewarded. A question: You mentioned that the app probably uses 'average passenger weight' in the fuel tab. Do you know if there's a list of average passenger weights for aircraft in the sim?
Thanks for the comment . About the weight I am not to sure . You may try and email the developer from their website about that he may not even have weights in the algorithm idk for sure.
@@2020fsers no problem at all I think you have a great niche and you really need to keep this up. Msfs was making me need to replace my gpu you got me another 9 months plus out of it
Thank you I've got some different stuff coming it should be good I hope lol. And I need to do another su10 graphics video but the new drivers for me made the sim worse and had to revert back so this makes it hard for me to get my settings dialed in I hope nvidia fixes the driver issues.
Thank you for your great tutorials, very clear and to the point. I do have a question. It has happened to me several times now that after planning the flight in LNM and loading it into MSFS, there is a sudden deviation of 5000 NM or so. Straight up this time and straight back. Everything on LNM looks fine, but then in FS it sends me to the moon. Does anyone have the same experiences?
Lol I haven't had that before . Make sure you export the fpl as msfs export if that's done then idk. Maybe a glitch in the app or msfs. Thanks for the comment .
Excellent tutorial, congrats! 🙂 I created step by step exactly the same IFR fligth plan using Asobo's Cessna C700 Longitude, but when I loaded it into the MSFS the plan altered significantly especially at the departure SID and at the arrival/approach phase. What can I do to have in in the aircraft exactly the same flight plan as created by the Little NavMap?
Thanks for the comment . What I do is not load the fpl in msfs I only use the start location but If you want to have atc in sim then I guess you need to . So what I would recommend is to not load your sid and star or approach when you export .then after you export sure put them into littlenavmap then when you load the fpl in msfs you can manually enter the sid and star or approach there and all other waypoints should stay the same.
Excellent video, I'm just starting with sim, but I installed this app and doing my 1st flight plan. Question though... is it possible to add more of a "trip" than a flight? Meaning, 1 flight plan, going thru multiple airports for a longer journey? I see I can add airports as waypoints, but I can't seem to be able to add a proper traffic pattern or landing procedure on the middle legs airports, if I do, it sets it as the final destination.
Thanks for the comment . No you can't plan multiple airports and procedures you can only plan the airports as a waypoint and you final destination with its procedures.
Your welcome .. are you asking how to add more waypoints to the fpl? If so I go over that I the next chapter vfr/freehand if you know the waypoint I show you how to add it or you can add right on the map.
Thank you for this informative video. Great stuff. I used the link you posted to get ATIS info, but it only shows US airports. Is there a site that show ATIS for the rest of the world?
Thanks for the comment I am sure there is a sight I would go to Google and punch in atis info for the area you are flying and it should come up of search atis info for the specific icao and it should definitely pop up.
My search for airports shows nothing when I search by city or state. Any ideas? I have reset the search filters with no help. By the way, great tutorial. Easy to follow.
Thanks for the comment ! ok did you update the scenery library for msfs inside the littlenavmap app? i just tried on mine only using a state and it did work properly.
Hello, I really need some help I have an error see screen shot I have no idea what I am doing wrong or how to fix this can you give me an "idiots" guide as to how I can fix this please?. Many Thanks Charlie
Thank you for your videos. I am not getting any aircraft information to show up where it should. Do you know why would that be? Do I need to start MSFS first and then create the flight plan?
Is there a rule of thumb of how many Mods in the Community folder is too much? I usually load the scenery I want for specific flights. Does this mean I need to run the scenery library downloader every time? Scenery purchased on the MS Store also errors due to its security implementation. Does this mess me up if I use those airports?
thanks for the comment ... Im not sure if there is a limit but i do know the less you have in the community the better it will be (less conflicts and faster load times) the scenery library only needs to be updated when you install new scenery or download any from the marketplace. ms store scenery that doesnt show in LNM due to errors wont mess up anything they just may not show in the LNM application.
Outstanding tutorial!!! Thank you very much. But I have one question: I did all the setup since part 1 of this tutorial, and doing the same VFR plan while I'm watching the tutorial, I can't add traffic pattern on the destination airport. The option is greyed, and I can't click on. Do you have any idea?? Thanks in advance. Cheers.
Hi, excellent video. I have a problem when i export to MSFS! if i have proceedures for departure or arrival, the route once loaded in MSFS2020 goes all over the place, when i remove the proceedures, it will load fine, but it means i don't have proceedures. Do you know what might be wrong please?
Yes 1 thing to try in the top tabs click the scenery library then down to navigraph airac and in that menu try using navigraph for navaids and procedures if that doesn't work try do not use navigraph database . Thanks for the comment
@@2020fsers hi thank you for the reply, I have been using their database, I'll have to try without them, I guess without them I won't be able to use any departure or arrival procedures?
@@2020fsers hi again, just tried the suggestion you made and it's still not loading into SIM correctly, upon departure from EGGD to EGTE it ls routing me from the airport to EXMOR via north and distance of 5,682 nm.
what do i do with the exported flightplan file (lets assume exported flightplan for msfs2020). If I wanna fly with the default cessna172 with g1000 gps, can I import the flightplan into the gps? if so, how can I do that?
If you export the fpl for msfs . Then in the world map you can pull up the fpl there using the tabs at the bottom I think it's the more tab and you should see where you can upload it .
I guess if you don't want to plan things yourself simbrief is great but for those that want to plan out a flight on a map you can't do that on simbrief.
Yes in one of the menus at the top you click to enable the web server and then there may be a button to display on web browser and then you can use that ip on your tablet
@@2020fsers I do have a subscription, the data hub navigraph recognizes it automatically, but in Little Nav Map it’s still grayed out and can’t select. 🤔 🤨
I did and it looks exactly like what your video shows. I can only select automatically, but I guess I assumed you would check use navigraph for charts and procedures, but that is grayed out inside Little Navigraph.
