MSG from Outer Space: The Science of Protein

Would you believe if I told you that scientists found MSG in a meteorite in 1969? Even if you don't, watch this video where I explain how protein works in simple, layperson terms and try and convince you to eat more protein (especially if you are South Asian) and fewer carbs.
Here is the "Project Project" report by Dr Abby Phillips where his team chemically analysed a large number of protein supplements in the Indian market and rated them - theliverdr/status...

You are the real Krish, our very own Indian super hero. Don't you think schools should start a module called food science where they get to learn about nutrition, facts about sugar, quantities and qualities, busting myths, history of Indian food and interesting stories/wars around food? You are the perfect teacher for such a module. Great work sir. ❤

4:47 Boss, two points: 1. The 0.8 to 2gm per kg body weight is for your ideal body weight depending on your height, age, and body (ectomorph etc.), not what your current weight is. Many of us in urban India are overweight and may end up having too much protein based on that weight. 😅 2. It would be good to introduce the concept of net protein utilisation (NPU) or the proportion of protein absorbed by the body from a particular food. NPU is very different for, say, egg whites (almost 100% by weight) versus rajma (

He kind of indirectly did address npu and bioavailabilty when he mentioned that when it comes to vegan sources one needs to diversify their protein sources as none of them are complete. Npu increases with more complete amino profiling of your protein sources.

I find your videos very well researched. These videos I can share with my friends and family because you talk about the eating habits of people in the Indian subcontinent. An important point to keep in mind is the bulk of food that you need to ingest to full-fill your protein requirements when you are exclusively on a vegetarian diet. Also, I think you may be surprised to know that protein requirements for endurance athletes might be higher than body builders.

Big fan of your sir. You make really great videos. I followed you on Instagram, asked a question in the comment, and you responded. It was a surprise given the amount of followers you have amassed. I wish you more growth for you, and for people like me to get more educated. You also handle delicacies of telling people 'how/what' to eat very well. Great writing skills!! 👏👏👏 One Video request: Carb vs Protein proportion in a healthy diet for different people as you covered here. (I would selfishly ask to elaborate more for a Hindu Vegetarian (lacto-vegetarian) Indian guy :P ). I have recently realized the whole Indian high carb diet + skinny fat issue. It is difficult to shake the dogma in anything and food might be on the more challenging side still. I would love to hear your views on this and I am sure you'll present it in a way that I can extend this to people of a wider age group (young people too) One Editing request: Please calibrate the audio levels. Sometimes the volume spiked too much. Idk what was happening there.

Not long ago, I was awestruck about the miraculous molecule - that Protein is! I have also witnessed the power of this super molecule in close quarter - wherein often my energy levels drop low to the point that I just want to doze off after returning from office. I have initially thought if it’s Vitamin D deficiency or sorts & tried fixes. Later I substantially increased my protein content through Legumes. I could evidently observe the energy boost after a post evening protein intake. Can equate to how Popeye feels after Spinach (of course not exaggerated as the cartoon & it also comes with a lagged response).
