Great looking laptop, would have purchased ge76 if not for the x17. And I'm glad a reseller is showcasing their products as it's so hard to get good reviews of these units because of the shortage :(

I have a model with a 3080 and it seems to drain battery life even when plugged in, during demanding tasks, would it be alright to go from the 230W supply to a 280W supply?

The model with an i7 comes with a 230W supply (what I have) and the i9 model comes with a 280W supply

No there are hooks you need to dislodge very carefully to avoid breaking. Need to use a tool to pry open the sides.

@@puyattravels5961 I preordered from Newegg and they released today. I’m looking at my tracking code and it says it is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. Also, I think the one at Best Buy that you can buy right now is the i7-10750H version, the 10870H will be released in February, but it is available in Newegg right now.

They did, but reviewers and some retailers are still using those terms in order to help us (the consumers) out. The wattage on these cards range from something like 60 watts-150 watts for the same care, but reviewers seem to be referring to anything with a wattage less than 100 as max q and anything greater than 100 as max p.

Were there clips holding the back on or does it slide off. I have this exact laptop but I can't get the back off. I'm not sure if I have to pry it off using plastic spudgers or if it just slides off

Every reviewer covering the new 3070 and 3080 laptops never say if the high refresh 240/300hz panels are adaptive sync. Not until you did the Zephyrus Duo one...is this GE66 adaptive sync? I can't find that info anywhere, not even on MSI's site.

Does it matter for adaptive sync? In fact adaptive sync is bad lol, cuz we lost g sync and that MUX to disable Nvdia Optimus mode, losing 10-100 percent of the performance we get depending on the game u play :(

@@terryss95 well first off, the GE76 is a 17" laptop and the GE66 is a 15" laptop, so no not just a prettified version of the GE66. Also, I don't think the 3080 is available in the GE66, but is in the GE76

The RAM manufacture should work with mobo manufacture to work out 1 stick dual channel 16GB ram . so the notebook only need 1 slot , the additional ram slot reserve for M.2 . i can foresee future laptop no more 2.5" SSD or HDD . only have 2 to 4 M.2 2280 slot , so the battery can go up to 90whr for most laptop.

From the moment I unboxed my ge66 I had a slight screen flicker. After trying driver reinstalls and deactivating things 1 by 1 I can’t find a solution. But have worked out it gets worse when using wifi and in particular uploading. Any tips on a fix or reason this might happen.. I’m at the point of having to send it in…

I had it too, programs i used that ended up resolving it for me: iobit driver booster, then intel driver support assistant, then of course windows updates along with nvidia driver updates. (perhaps not in that order)

I preordered the best buy model. It should have the slightly slower i7 and I just hope its a non max-q 3070. The rest should be pretty much same.

i got gp65 looks like vrms doesnt use thermal pads but a paste, we can use any thermal paste there? also i heard we can use k5-pro, or better switch to thermal pads but with what dimensions?

If it use thermal paste then don't replace with thermal pads because of the thickness. You can use Thermal Grizzly Kryonuat or any other paste. Thermal pads would be too thick and causing overheating.

You can use any paste to test out but I think thermal pads are too thick even 0.5mm. It will push heatsink up and cause GPU to run hotter.

@@GenTechPC Recently when I’m opening & closing my laptop I’m hearing crunching sounds coming out from under that plastic cover where the hinges are mounted. I can also see the piece being pushed up slightly when closing the lid, although very subtle, I think it’s due to the hinges being too tight. So I just wanted to see what it looks like under there and whether I need to do anything before it gets worse.
