I'm an old guy who never went to Vietnam. I stayed in school to get a good education, then a good job. I'm retired now with a house in Alaska for the summer and a house in Hawaii for the winter. For me the economy is doing great. Loving my retirement...so happy that I decided to stay in school. Vietnam is now a great place to visit. Wonderful restaurants and night life.

I live in southern Ca. In September 2023, after almost 30 years, Allstate Insurance Co cancelled my home owners policy. After a two month search, I finally found a company that was willing to write me a policy. I went from paying $1800.00 a year to $5600.00, and I have an inferior policy compared to before.

Not only that bad expense for you, but it has a domino effect over places where we don't have annual forest fires or hurricanes. My insurance went up because the company said due to losses in other areas, we (with no fault of yours) need to raise your rates in order to remain profitable. With the exorbitant cost of homes and cars, damage and repair costs soar for them. Also property tax went up because govt needs more revenue to cover the printing of money then waste it on Ukraine.

How confused do you have to be to realize that that I can't afford to go to live how I used to. I can't vacation this summer. I can't afford to eat most of what I used to. I can't afford to do anything but sit at home anymore. I make 20 dollars a month more than in 21. That is it. And life stinks.

The global post pandemic inflation sucks, but we all saw how terrible Trump dealt with Covid. No way he could have dealt with the inflation without sending us into a recession. You are too funny. Do you actually believe that? Inflation continues to rise. Interest rates are sky high. Credit card debt is at an all time high. Property taxes are up. Insurance costs are up. Mortgage rates are up. Crime is up. Illegal immigration is astronomical and is not free. My investment accounts are about even if you count inflation and the devaluation of the dollar. Energy prices are way up. Food prices are way up. If you include the illegal immigrant numbers I doubt unemployment is at reported numbers. Wages are not keeping up with inflation. I could go on!!!!!

I was in LA yesterday. In Santa Monica, a beautiful retail area, at least one third of storefronts were shuttered. In most of the remaining stores there were sales of 40-50%. The streets were pretty empty. That’s an upscale area of LA, yes, a lot of theft and no police action has closed stores, but also clearly consumers aren’t out shopping.
