Cool idea with the Db comparison. A before/after on the weight difference would have been cool .... every oz counts in the Rockies! Had the dragonfly 20 + years and it has never let me down... but yes... it is loud! (It sounds like morning coffee!!!)
Pretty neat. Ive had my Dragonfly for 20-ish years and to see it improved is amazing. My only other mod I'd request is a longer and more flexible hose.
They USED to be hand crafted by "BernieDawg" Adams...now they are 3D printed in Belgium. He dumped the US manufacturer because they not only outsourced the printing, they tried to jack the prices way to high and cut his %....
Dang price jumped up like crazy. Around $90 now. Just read that BernieDawg isn’t making much on these anymore because of pricing from his manufacturer that was actually outsourcing to someone else much to his dismay.
So the dragontamer is a cool idea and expensive. The question is why first it seem that it only folds up halfway and you need a dyi wire to keep it from falling off? I read the DT causes the DF to clog up etc more? What are your long term review thoughts now?
It does fold up all the way, just the burner cup has to be seated all the way. Secondly, the wire is there just so the burner cup doesn't walk away on trips. In fact we have the stove folded and stored in a small molle pouch inside the 4runner right now. It stays there at the ready incase adventure strikes us. As far as clogging up. That has not been my experience. I've not cleaned the stove once since I bought it. Even after all this time with the dragontamer on, and used very heavily ( at time we where out exploring every weekend), the stove preforms like the day I bought it. Hopefully that helps answer some of your questions. Thank you for watching!
The idea is terrific, though I've heard, maybe from a different model? that they can create dangerous back heat levels. Don't know how true. A hundred bucks... forget it. I've been using my SVEA 123 for forty years, then bought the Dragonfly for stability. I like the sound of my SVEA after getting into camp. Kind of a Zen thing. (a MSR gas canister support will fit on the bottom of a SVEA btw.) Thanks for demonstrating. Kind of hard to beat, if it's safe, though.
So I’ve also read into that at as well. We have had zero issues with this. And we cook a lot of the stove with this mod. It’s our primary stove. We’ve done very long cook sessions with it and no issues. High heat, low simmer, high and low location. Literally makes the stove our favorite stove to cook on, and I have a pretty good collection of them lol.
@@EmbarkWithMark Polaris pump. The whisperlite universal comes with a canister gas attachment for the fuel line which has the lindal connection. The optimus Polaris pump also has the lindal. And it’s a much better pump. Sure does make that stove good.
The noise never really bothered me (us). I found I could get 2 cups of water boiling on about a half setting…much quieter. I also use an Outback Oven for baking and be able to control the flame is essential. Interesting device. That said, after about 20 years my fuel cup separated from the wick wire. Gotta find a welder to repair it.
Wow, 20 years of use and finally gave up. I hope you can find someone to repair it. We really love the stove now that it is quiet, noise tends to bother me a lot more when i'm out exploring. Glad the stove has served you well!
