if i'm trying to get something similar to a KLIM Baja but want a MSR product do i go with this voyager or the xplorer for the best breathability in venting for texas heat?
The Baja is mostly mesh so it's hard to compare it to the MSR gear. The Xplorer will definitely give you more airflow than the Voyager with the two-way zippers at the cuff and it uses a more breathable waterproof membrane. If it's in your budget, I'd go with the Xplorer. But for the price, you can't beat the Voyager gear. - Chase
The Xplorer uses the eVent liner which has a a more breathable membrane, has D30 armor, Superfrabric in high abrasion areas, which is known to be one of the most abrasion resistant textiles in adventure today today, includes a two-way zipper at the cuff for better fit with gauntlet gloves and venting, and more pockets. The Voyager is amazing gear for he price range it's in, but the Xplorer is for those wanting the most performance possible in a set of adventure/touring gear.
I just bought the Xplor pants and jacket and have a 36 waist, 44 chest and had to get an XL jacket and 38 pant. Otherwise there was no way I could wear a mid layer under either. I could barely get the 36 pants on with just a base layer. The 38 size allows me to wear the mid layer and not be too tight. Great gear!
The inner pockets are not able to hold chest protection. Our new MSR Xplorer ADV Jacket will hold chest protection: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/riding-gear/msr-xplorer-adv-jacket-p?c=13
