Mt Baker Summit Ski (Washington) 

Mt Baker is a stratovolcano at the far north of Washington state near the Canadian border. This is one reason Canadians get sick of staring at it from downtown Vancouver and decide to go check it out. Baker is one of the most heavily glaciated areas of the contiguous US and the snowiest places on earth. In 1999 it had a record near 30m of snowfall recorded.
In the winter, backcountry ski enthusiasts test their endurance by attempting to ski to the top. This is a substantial endeavor and something to write home about! Many set forth to attempt it in a long daytrip and others dig a snow cave and sleep halfway up to the summit.
