Phil Elverum of Mt. Eerie and the Microphone talking about Olympia, Punk, Norway, and Book Publishing for our cameras at the Vera Project in Seattle Washington before his show.
Love how Phil talks about his work in the most causal of ways. “Oh that? It’s a thing I did. Nothing more”, but it’s a piece of art that’s like changed the way I view my life
Paul Stergios Idk how serious you are about this comment or if it is still relevant but I got permanent tinnitus from a sebadoh show about three years ago and I can say that phil is the last person you should be blaming, not saying you should blame yourself either 'cause I've been there, but I don't blame sebadoh for the tinnitus even though they caused it to become permanent, there were times when i wanted to contact lou barlow and say 'thanks for the tinnitus you fucker', but why make an artist you like/liked feel bad like that? its often caused by accumulation of sound intake over time, like i can think of instances before it was permanent where a show i was at was just way too loud and i regretted being there. Plus opening acts and soundmen that don't know what they are doing and lack of breaks or hearing protection. All things to take into consideration. Above all just try to block it out and not let it get to you man. Most musicians and a lot of music fans deal with it.
@jrhollobaugh *seven months late* I'm personally very excited about the future. I thought Wind's Poem was beautiful, I'm a big fan of black metal but i don't think you need to be that familiar with it to enjoy the album. The guy has yet to put out ANYTHING that I don't love, and I'm glad that this very talented artist is doing things his way. Plus he's releasing TONS of music, which is fantastic.
Does anyone know where I can contact Phil??? The email on his website doesn't seem to be working when I try to send anything to it and I really want to see if he'd be willing to play a show in my area, because there really aren't many good local bands where I live :(
this is good stuff going on and out....Listen to the recording advice..well its advice for me...digital age is so fun isn't it ? Bruce to Phil I want The Glow Part nine..keep your interests crazy like you do...woohoo I should erase this
He seems like one of those guys who could be a serial killer if he hadn't found his talent for music and artistic outlet. They say ...when a man can't find his reason to live he will go insane. JK....before the haters get upset. He's just really cool and interesting. And cool and interesting people are always on the edge of being scary.
I tried to get into this guy, his music but I just found him boring. I’m still trying to discover what’s so great about him, why people keep telling me to check him out. Those who like his work are devoted to him.
