What an honor and a privilege it was for you to get to visit Fujisan! And your plan to beat the crowds worked perfectly! Thanks for taking us along! Due to my health and finances, I can never hope to visit her, but I completed an online virtual challenge to climb her virtually here at home! The challenge was through The Conqueror and it included all five of the lakes, as well as the slope of Fujisan herself! It was 47 miles in total and it took me 6 months to complete it due to my health. I did some of it in my wheelchair and some on my exercise bike, but I did most of it on my ski machine. I haven't actually touched her, but I climbed her! Right here in my livingroom! 🩷🩷

It’s a great thing to do. We took our kids there about 5 years ago in the middle of winter when there are lots of clear days and you have the best chance of seeing Mt Fuji at its best. We stayed in the area a couple of nights. To get to the viewing park, you have to walk under the Shinkansen line. There really is a Shinkansen line! At the park, there is a statue of the Meiji emperor gazing out towards Mt Fuji. It’s right behind where everyone stands taking pictures. No videos ever seem to mention this but it really symbolises Japan. We got the iconic photos so the trip was a great success. Going home we got a Highway bus from Fujisan Station directly to Narita Airport, which suited us and worked really well. Waiting for the bus we had lunch at that Mos Burger. I will always remember it because they had run out of fries! We could only get one serving between all of us. 😂😂😂 I was happy to see it was still there.

If I had to go up so many stairs I would possibly have an asthma attack on my way up, and definitely wouldn't be able to move the next day, but that's because I'm in poor shape. Still wouldn't feel any regrets, because the views were amazing, but my legs would make me pay for that walk 😂

A beautiful trip to a spectacular site. Even the simplest foods in Japan are so aesthetically pleasing. The crane with your Matcha latte is so simple, but beautiful. American foods look like a trash bin in comparison. I would love to travel in Japan. Have you ever considered organizing an itinerary for foreign tourists. Your insight and knowledge of the beauty of Japan would be greatly appreciated by many. Some of us are quiet and respectful too!😊

Mt Fuji did NOT disappoint! Sooo beautiful! Only your Shikoku Mannaka Sennen Monogatari video was as good. I'd have no problem waking up early for the best views. When we go on a trip, I'm up at 3 am. It's when the vacation is over that I have trouble getting on the road before noon. Thanks for identifying Lake Kawaguchiko. I saw it in another vlog & have been going crazy trying to figure out the name. Lastly, that matcha looked delicious! I've been on serious matcha kick lately, but my lattes are sad in comparison.

When I went to Fujikawaguchiko back in spring this year, it was all waaaaay pre-planned itineraries, and not this last minute weather forecast planning. I stayed near Fujikyu-Highland Station, woke up early and took the first train to Shimoyoshida. Thinking back, I am really really thankful that the skies were a perfect cloudless blue the whole 3 days I was there. If it was cloudy, it would have made me so sad and I'd have left Japan feeling a tiny bit unfulfilled. Side note : As much as I loved Kawaguchiko and what it has to offer, I recommend anyone going there to choose rental bicycles or drive around. I really hated the loop bus, it was jam packed with tourists(like me, *coughs* *ahem*). Once I had trouble alighting at a stop that not many people alighted from cos I was all the way at the back of the bus and the bus just drove off, so I had to alight at the next stop and backtrack(though backtracking wasn't that bad, since there's scenery to see).

There were some odd train fares there. Shinjuko - Shinoyoshida, 2319 Yen. Fujisan - Kawaguchiko, 224 Yen. What is odd about them? The fact that they weren't rounded up to nearest 5 or 10 Yen in the manner that the restaurant prices always seem to be. So many people; and in a 3 coach train. Sardines in a can have more room. As for which view - I preferred the early morning views. There's a lot of detail gets lost in the back-lit or overcast scenes. I think another day trip wil be required to fully explore Lake Kawaguchi, There's a lot more beyond that distant bridge over the lake. Your forward planning worked because it did not have a first encounter with the enemy! 😀

A bit of a story about Chureito pagoda- a picture of it was in one of my elementary school literature books, accompanying a story about an arrogant sumo wrestler that was tricked by a fox. I don't remember anything else in that textbook, but that picture of the pagoda framed by the flowering trees and Fuji in the background immediately made an impression on me even though I knew nothing of Japan as a country, and it stayed with me for decades until I finally made plans to visit last October. The weather was beautiful, and I was looking forward to crowning the end of my trip with a visit to the long-remembered pagoda....until I hurt my knee on the Nakasendo and my last week in Japan was spent with a bad limp restricted to museums and food. My knee is all better now and I'm even more motivated to go back and see my view.
