There should be a queue line for it with riders standing on the slab for two minutes before exiting and on coming riders step onto the slab for their ride. Also the ride ops will make sure your items are secure and that you won’t fall off the slab before giving the thumbs up.
Ahh yes. The concrete slab. That used to be a slingshot ride until one of the 2 main bungees snapped and sent the cage flying. It's a miracle neither of the passengers died.
One of the kids who was on the slingshot in that infamous video was from my school/grade the time. It was a huge deal at the time for our school as he was a pretty popular kid, and we were all from a very small town of 2000 people. It was crazy how close he was to being killed.
The park really doesn't flow well and it has a strange layout. I grew up going to the Dells and Mount Olympus used to never be a thing and it's a mish mash of several separate parks all next to each other that were scooped up by Mount Olympus owners. I believe it was Big Chief Go-Kart 2 which had the coasters, Crazy Ludwig's Go-Karts, and Family Land Waterpark.
This video is honestly healing for me. I grew up in Southern WI, but my family was too poor to do summer weekends in the Dells and I always thought I was missing out on so much! Now I'm an adult and I've visited a lot of great parks, but it's still gratifying to learn Mt Olympus doesn't live up to the Elementary school hype like MATT always said it did. You're never too old to feel a little petty over your elementary school bullies
Truly heartbreaking to hear both of you say that you guys got bullied because of that your bullies are definitely losers for doing that to you I bet you guys have a lot more better memories with your families and better times than what they could ever have with their fancy stuff God bless both of you
Don't take this guy's word for it though, like 2/3 of the video is him whining and him being like "this is the worst ride ever, thats what i was told i never actually went on" Thats code for "i didn't even go here i just like complaining"
@@justinscherzer6047 I think that small slab used to be a small rock climbing tower, the slingshot was a little bit farther back near the other side of a go kart track.
The tool he had looked like a battery-powered grease gun. So I guess he was just greasing the wheel bearings. You would think they would do such a simple task before opening for the day... Or close the ride for a short time if it was squealing or something. Doing it with guests in the cars doesn't really instill a lot of confidence.
It happened to me at a travelling funfair (yes, I know they aren't the safest), I was riding the waltzers and they weren't spinning round like normal; looked to the edge of the track and a man was using an angle grinder to cut a bit out of the side of the ride😳. I think he was going to weld in a new piece but it scared the pants off me and hubby.
mount Olympus has destroyed Wisconsin dells they have bought about 60% of the privately-owned small waterparks and ruined the atmosphere of the city if you want to go to a great waterpark and you're willing to spend more money go to Kalahari resort it is wayyyy better
@@dilianavelasquez7822 they really are crap. I used to work there and they over priced the hell out of everything. Everything is an up sell and an up charge even for the parks that are right inside. They also treat their employees like actual garbage. Mostly hire exchange students (so they can pay them next to nothing and say they’re gaining experience) who have only had a few days of training and exploit them. They also pay leas than any other big resort in the whole Dells. I work at wilderness now and they pay me way more and actually treat me like a person.
Normally it would say wait time, but I'm sure due to lack of staff they rather just put if its open or not and its not as busy because they aren't selling outside passes.
I grew up in Wisconsin and this brings back so much nostalgia. Went to the Dells every summer growing up. The vibe and layout of this park is really “Wisconsin Dells”, I don’t know how to explain what that means. It’s just old school, and this park used to be a place where you just walked in and paid per ride. Maybe 15 years ago or so they tried to make it an actual all included “theme park” and combined surrounding attractions. That’s why the layout is so random and feels odd. It’s such an old school touristy road side stop. But I love it.
The craziest thing I saw was a mechanic on Hades jumping over the fence in the station to get to the platform below. Pretty sure that woulda been a good 40 foot fall had he slipped
Wisconsin amusement safety laws are so dickless that the park doesnt have much short term financial incentive to actually take it seriously (which was obvious from my only visit). Seems like that attitude is poisoning their view of workplace safety as well.
@@lordmanshaft1112 Correct. My question is would this place even stay open if Wisconsin passed real amusement safety rules? There's so much they'd have to do that they don't right now. I went on opening day this year and every coaster had at least one row closed because something was broken. The exact same maintenance guy in this video hopped onto the track in the Hades station after sending a train - knowing how fast the train would enter when it returned - to work on the restraint contact points for one of the closed rows (the springs on two pins were shot - I could see them after he hopped out, he failed to coax the pins out of their hole). He also was tightening one of the restraint hinges with an allen wrench while guests waited to board.
@@Danrarbc Your anecdote is...unsettling...to say the least. I have to imagine the only way the park could operate under strict government regulation is through management by a firm that has proven themselves able to run amusement parks in those circumstances: Cedar fair, Six flags, or herschend.
@@lordmanshaft1112 You don't need a chain (BTW none of those companies would fit this park. Fun Spot is a closer fit), you'd just need an owner with deep pockets and knows how to run a well-kept park.
Mt. Olympus has pretty much ruined Wisconsin Dells. They've monopolized the entire town by buying all the small hotels and painting them their signature blue. It all started when they bought Family Land, which was a nice little water park that I enjoyed as a kid. That is why there is no flow in the park because its very pieced together. Poorly, for that matter. Was fun to see a video from a local place though!
We used to go to the Dells all the time when the in-laws lived there. Then they moved and we hadn't been there in so long. We decided to make a weekend of it and relive the memories. That's when we drove thru town and saw everything bought up by the same company and painted blue. Felt like driving thru barracks with some entertainment squeezed in between. It was so disappointing.
As a local I totally agree. Mt Olympus wrecked the look and feel of the Dells, which says a lot considering the town is a tourist trap. In the Dells there used to be Family Land like you said. That is what is the "water park" today. The coaster and go cart section used to be Big Chief. Funny how when they were seperate parks with different owners they were both pretty awesome. As a townie we used to use local passes and go multiple times a season. If you go to the Dells spend your money on Noah's Ark.
Well there is also a water slide that killed someone too. I looked This up the see if the 1st incident was true and found another incident. I don't even care about the credits anymore I don't think I'm going to this park ever unless there is a change of management
@@bjtgaming If I remember correctly, the waterslide accident was because some tourist teenagers broke into the outdoor waterpark area during winter. They went to go down on one of the slides, but they got stuck in the piled up snow and one of them fell trying to get out of it.
kalahari, the wilderness and noahs ark are all pretty good tho. mt olympus is the worst major resort in the dells that i can remember staying at (i live in wisconsin, so i've been to the wisconsin dells a multitude of times and have stayed in a lot of their resorts) the city is packed with tourist traps though
Mt. Olympus has really gone down hill a ton in the last several years! They are more concerned about buying out all the other smaller hotels and motels than upgrading their places.
For sure, other than the bigger resorts, the whole place is one massive tourist trap. I drove through it once and the stuff you can see would shock you.
I have been to this place countless times over my 56 years. Let me give you my take on this park. 1) It is TACKY. Tacky, tacky, tacky. But WAIT! That's a good thing. This park ... in fact the entire tourist trap town of Wisconsin Dells ... is tacky. Think low-brow entertainment. Blue collar. Brown (farmer) collar! It makes NO apologies for this at all and SHOULDN'T. If you're a snob, you will hate this park and the rest of Wisconsin Dells. It is dirt beneath your feet. BUT if you're not a snob and can enjoy fun for just fun's sake and if you can laugh at tacky oddball stuff, this park and town is for you. And this is what I warn all my friends that I take there. Once you accept this, you can start to enjoy it. In fact, once you accept this, you will enjoy it even more. 2) There was NO grand plan for this park or the rest of Wisconsin Dells. Want to experience how amusement parks once were. This is it. And note I said AMUSEMENT parks. Not theme parks. Theme parks was a Walt Disney creation. Wisconsin Dells outdates Disneyland by decades. Longer even. MUCH longer. The original attraction was literally the Dells. The rock formations along the Wisconsin River that people used to be paddled around to see. And thus where the town got its name. Oh, and note I used the word PADDLED. They started doing this sight-seeing before there were motorized boat engines. Yeah, this place is old. Walk down the main street and you'll see NO theming whatsoever. The next attraction can be anything under the sun and usually is. Welcome to a time before Disney. 3) Mount Olympus grew by simply buying the attractions next to it. That is why there isn't even consistent theming within. In fact, during the last recession (2008), they went on a buying spree and bought every single motel along the strip they could get their hands onto and they got their hands onto a TON of motels. They ALL were once independently operated motels. Now they're all painted white and blue so you know they're part of the Olympus complex. Oh, and if you stay in them, you get FREE admittance into the park. Now think about that for a minute. Do the math. Take a WILD guess where the real money is in Olympus. Yup, the motel rooms. While the park was originally the money-maker for Olympus, now it is the motel rooms. Motels that everyone wants to stay at since if you do, you can literally just walk to the park without using your car. Trust me. During peak tourist season, you do NOT want to use your car in the Dells. Think LA traffic is bad? Come to the Dells during peak tourist season and try to get across town. 4) And that is why selling wristbands and then checking for them isn't that big of a deal to Olympus! I mean they only cost you $10 a day to start with. Heck, you can go to practically ANYWHERE in the town of Wisconsin Dells and get a free coupon to get into Mount Olympus! Why? Again, the gate isn't where they make the big money. Motels are that. In fact, the gate isn't where they make their second biggest money. That's the concessions stand and their restaurants. They know once you walk in, you're in for the day and you WILL get thirsty and hungry over the course of that day. And here's where the place is even more cool.... 5) They really don't care if you bring in your own food and drink in your bags. Honestly, they don't. You see they know you won't be bringing in a microwave oven, freezer, or a cotton candy machine in your bags. They have those. They know YOUR kids will ABSOLUTELY want all the junk food they sell and not whatever you brought in your bags .... that is steadily getting warmer and warmer with each passing minute. And once you're in, they've got you and your wallet. Try. Seriously try to not give into your kids begging for an ice cream cone. But let us be honest. You're going to be the first one standing up and saying, "Hey, anyone want something from concessions stand?" In fact, your kids will probably initially say, "Nah!" and run off into the pool. You'll then buy them something anyway because you know they'll be thirsty and/or hungry when they come back out to rest and/or.... 6) The roller coasters, go-carts, and other rides are simply there to give you and your family something to do while not in the pool. Something else to do. Something to do until you want to get back into the pool. Next time you go there during peak season, notice how many people waiting to do the roller coasters, go-carts, etc. are wearing swimming suits. That's not a fashion statement. They're just livening up their day by doing the rides UNTIL they get overheated by the sun and then back into the pool they will run. And I do mean RUN. You'll probably never hear such loud thunder of flip-flops smacking feet and pavement as swimmers running back down the hill to the pools as you will at Olympus. Oh, and that's why the rides and parking are up on the hill. They want you to stay and making it easy to return to the pool is one of the ways they do that. In fact, you'll commonly hear your fellow park guests groan about leaving as it means walking up the hill (or back to their motel rooms) so the parents commonly say, "Okay, but after a bit. Let me rest up first." The kids will race back into the pool before you change your mind ... which you won't but they cannot take the chance that you might. 7) Peak season is Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. All the rides and attractions are in full swing. The only ones closed are being hurriedly repaired to open as soon as possible. This is why the pool isn't heated. No one ... NO ONE wants the pool heated during this time. Everyone is going into the pool to cool off, not warm up. Even grandpa and grandma are wading up to their ankles in the pool to cool off. Summer in Wisconsin is HOT and HUMID. A cold pool is Heaven at this time. 8) Wisconsin Dells is a MASSIVE employer in Wisconsin during the summer. This is where most of the college students make and save up money for the school year. This is why ALL colleges and universities in Wisconsin ALWAYS end BEFORE Memorial Day weekend and don't start until AFTER Labor Day weekend. You need to understand that tourism is HUGE in Wisconsin. Everyone ... EVERYONE in Chicago goes to Wisconsin for their summer vacation. Why? We're north of them and thus OBVIOUSLY cooler. In fact, during the peak tourist season, there will be more Illinois license plates on cars and trucks in the Dells than Wisconsin plates. Interstate 90 goes directly from Chicago to Wisconsin Dells. The only thing I'm amazed by is why hasn't the Wisconsin legislature raised the speed limit on I90 to 75 mph or even 80 mph to cut down the drive time for Chicagoans to make it even quicker to get to it and thus even more likely they will come. 9) I could go on and on about Wisconsin Dells but I will end with what it is trying to become: INDOOR waterpark capital of the world. The Dells hired a marketing consultant on how to make the Dells even more popular and that is what he came up with. So during the off-peak season (after Labor Day weekend until before Memorial Day weekend), this is what Dells is trying to become and thus why Olympus has an indoor waterpark ... which commonly isn't open during the peak tourist season for this reason. Once Dells cools down during fall to spring, they are trying to be the weekend get-away for Chicagoans by having MASSIVE indoor waterparks for them to come to. This is something the Dells has been working on for well over couple decades and it is beginning to prosper. Hmmmm. Maybe I should start up a RU-vid channel devoted to the Dells. :-) LOL!
This was the perfect explanation what I wanted to say while watching this video. You described the town and this park so in depth and accurate. I grew up for many many years going to the Dells and you are 100% dead on with your explanation and description. My favorite thing about the Dells is embracing the tacky touristy feel just like you said, I love that. So much nostalgia.
If they don't care about theming, then why'd they even bother calling the place "Mount Olympus" and naming the rides after Greek gods and creatures, or that half-assed Greek facade building? And if it's not making them much money, why haven't they just shut it down to use for more hotel space?
Went a few years ago with family and we had a BLAST, the coasters were all a ton of fun, we spent way too much time racing go karts, and the wave pool was awesome and very unique.
We didn’t go on any coaster other than Pegasus when we went two years ago, so I don’t have any comments on the coasters, but they have an amazing flat ride collection, and that water park!!! Amazing!
As someone that has lived near the dells for a huge chunk of their life: go literally anywhere else besides Mt. Olympus. Noah's, The Wilderness, and Great Wolf are exponentially better than Mt. Olympus
The owner is not respected or liked by the Dell's community. He has been trying to buy out the whole town. The park is now open to hotel guests only, so you need to stay in their resort to visit. The owner is more focused on expanding and building than on current property management. It's a park which needs leadership and some restraint.
I think it would be amazing if the owners of Holiday World bought this park and took it over. The two parks are very similar: huge water park and a small dry park with several wooden coasters. The main reason why Holiday World is ten times better is because it's owned and managed by people that actually care and aren't just in it for the money.
I feel you. Mt. Olympus was part of a wave of out-of-state investors that muscled their way into the area and tried to take over as it were. Not only did you have Mt. Olympus squeeze into a tiny lot next to Family Land trying to sell amusement park rides in a town known for waterparks, but I'm guessing one of the main reasons they bought out Family Land and absorbed it into Olympus was the dry rides weren't profitable and they wanted the waterpark as a primary attraction. NGL, they did do a good amount of investment in Family Land and built the indoor waterpark up front: It was kinda old and didn't have the pull that Noah's Ark did. Still not nearly as much of a dump as Riverview Park though lol... that is more like a motel that decided to add a few waterslides.
Oh my god do I wish they bought out that park. At this point I think it's too late for the park but if only it got bought a couple years ago that would've been a dream.
I once was at the start of the giant wave and was carried all the way to the end of the wave pool by it... underwater the whole time. I was 10 or 12 and no one came to check up on me after i resurfaced...
There was someone that had died there in the off season one year also. When there was snow on the ground. But that's only cause they were climbing on the outdoor slides when they weren't supposed to be.
Multiple rides have had accidents that resulted in death or bad injury. I used to come here as a kid and alot of the rides I used to love have been removed due to rider deaths or severe injury. Offhand I think 2 people died due to the parks shoddy maintenance. (On opa mini coaster and the go cart track) and there's been other deaths too and lots of injuries. Honestly if you look at the list of injuries for this park it's really bad for parks it's size.
The Kalahari owns the villas on Lake Delton and we went boating. When you round a corner, you can see the house of the owners of Mt. Olympus, with water slides leading to the backyard. Hogging the money he is lmao
This place looks like it's slowly becoming a more elaborate and less obviously screwed version of Action Park. Based on the video and the comments this place seems like it should have been closed years ago.
I was here around '97 right after Hades opened. The coasters were wild and questionable even when they were built. I can't imagine them now. The Dells will always hold a special place in my heart.
Lagoon, Silverwood, Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, SFOG, SFFT, SFOT, SFSTL, Sea World Orlando, Universal, and Busch Gardens Tampa are all open and easily better
I was just at Mt. Olympus last Sunday so I will talk about my experience (also, it's been about 9 years since I was last there and it was a different experience in comparison). My town was selling tickets for $5.75 so I bought a bunch for my friends and I to go there. We were charged $25 for parking and workers did check our bags when we went in. We did not like how far away the bathrooms are from the entrance. It was a busy and hot day so we had to wait in long lines...Hades took over an hour to get through. It took us over 3 hours to go on each of the rollercoasters once. We knew that we did not want to buy their expensive food so we brought lunches with us and ate in the parking lot because they do not allow food or drinks to be brought in. We ended up paying for lockers, which cost $12 per locker. It was expensive but we felt it was worth it to do that. After lunch we went on Helios, a go kart track, and I was not a fan because it was a very bumpy track. Also, I felt like herded cattle in the line to get to the karts. We finally got to the water stuff and we had a ton of fun. While Posidons Rage gets all the credit, one wave pool there that gets slept on is Tidal Wave. Tidal Wave is super fun because while it may not be as big as Posidons, you can float on a tube and enjoy the smaller, bouncier waves that last for at least 5 minutes. We loved this pool and created many funny memories there. We also went on the lazy river, which was fun but very crowded and hard to get Tubes to float on. The water play area was also fun but cold. All the lines for the big water slide rides were long and would have taken hours for us to get through so we did not do them. Overall, we had a good day and want to come back next summer. Except, next summer we want to stay a whole weekend and include a different park, probably Noah's ark. The Wilderness is super fun too. But I would not recommend the kalihari because when I went there it felt like a rip off and there were not many rides to go on. Thank you for reading! Signed, a true Wisconsinite
it was also interesting that, because of the lack of separation between the water and dry park, they let you go on the coasters in just a swimsuit, even if you're soaking wet
So I know mt. Olympus isn't that great but when you pay 10 bucks to go there on a field trip when i was younger you get so excited i am going there with a friend and I have so much nostalgia going back
i go to wisconsin dells about every summer and i never have a bad time, i love the giant wave pool, the shops, the go karts, waterslides, etc. it may not be the best game with their customer service, and there is a lot to work on, but if you want to go, don't hold back
oh yea that turn will crack ribs if you are on the left side of the car, trust me i carried a 5 month long Pegasus bruise. it looks fun but trust me it is not at all
As a Wisconsinite, we don't consider Mt Olympus to even be a theme park. Only a water park with rollercoasters and go karts. If you want to go to a themepark, you travel the extra couple hours to Gurnee, IL and have a good time at Six Flags Great America.
I’ve been going to the Dells since the 80s. It was a fantastic place back then, but a lot has changed and not for the better. Mt. Olympus is a hodge podge of multiple (very different) parks, including Family Land, Big Chief Go Cart World, and Crazy King Ludwigs go carts. The way I understand it, Big Chief’s ownership bought out the adjacent parks and turned it into Mt. Olympus. They didn’t stop there - they started buying all of the mom and pop hotels in the town and rebranded them as Mt. Olympus. They literally own the town. With the rapid expansion, Mt. Olympus does not seem to have the finances or resources to adequately staff and support the park, as this video suggests. I loved Big Chief Go Carts, but became underwhelmed when Mt. Olympus took over everything. If you want roller coasters, go to Cedar Point. If you want water slides, go to Noah’s Ark or Schlitterbahn. Best avoid this place.
Wow you’re right, totally forgot go cart part used to be Big Chief! Ah so many Dells memories from childhood. It’s what made me love touristy places. Pretty sure my love for the Dells as a kid turned into my love for Vegas as an adult lol.
Yeah, Mt. Olympus has just spread throughout the whole town. Noahs Ark, the Wilderness, and the Kalahari are all great! But the owner of Mt. Olympus has just been so obsessed with expansion rather than upgrading their rides and entertainment. When I talked to some employees and managers, they all said the owner was so lackluster when it came to managing the rides, that Hades, Zeus and tons of other rides break down frequently. And the indoor waterpark is closed because of staffing.
Went to this park a few years ago. Wasn't impressed. The indoor water park isn't impressive. just a tube slide, lazy river and way too crowded! The roller coasters are freaky and probably in need of maintenance. If you want a true Wisconsin Dells experience, go to Noah's Ark! Best water park in Wisconsin!
That's what happens when you're an out-of-state investor only interested in money and cobbled the park together out of successive land-buys. They originally only had the coasters and the go-karts. The entire waterpark area was Family Land which they bought out some time later and squeezed the indoor waterpark up front when that started trending around the time Kalahari was built. Before that sort of thing, the Dells was largely shut down for winter. I remember staying with my dad at a hotel there on a roadtrip during winter and the room rate was only $25 instead of the summer price of $150 and half the hotel was winterized and mothballed. Now they have the indoor parks and also the area offers stuff like crosscountry skiing, snowmobiling, etc. which isn't a bad addition ngl
I actually went this year back in May and tbh it was really nice and clean especially around COVID and the stay was absolutely cheap ( for three days $178) maybe because of the COVID outbreak lol but the only thing I didn’t like was that the water rides water was super super cold and it was around 70 degrees but in the evening it got around 60 and drop to the 50s at night but it was still fun! Nice restaurants all around and other adventurous things to do when park closed but idk it’s different for everyone it’s no cedar point but it’s fun and clean so yeah that’s just my opinion
Wisconsin Dells is known more for their water parks than theme parks. Some call this place a tourist trap, but it's a nice place in rural Wisconsin. If you actually went there you'll have an amazing time, maybe not at Mt. Olympus, but there are so many experiences you cannot find anywhere else. Wisconsin doesn't have a staple theme park, this is closest we got. You can't really count Great America even though they serve both Chicago and Milwaukee. Take this from someone who has gone to the Dells ever since they were young.
I would say it's lost a lot of the rural feel since the area between Noah's Ark and the Kalahari filled in. 4-6 lane boulevard and constant traffic with way too many people.
I think the concrete slab was one of the mounts for a slingshot ride. It was run by an outside contractor. The day after installing a new bunge band the band broke just as it was about to fire. The ride was shut down and ordered removed by management. It was gone and off property in less than a week.
When you said there was a hole in the floor that reminded me at the VIP event at Indiana beach on cornball the entire floor was missing in the second row and the whole front seat came forward. It was a little strange.
Coming from a Wisconsinite, if you are coming to Mt.Olympus for the waterpark just go to Noah’s ark it’s literally less than a 9 minutes drive from the place and is MUCH better imo
Mt. Olympus is one day of a fun Wisconsin Dells trip. The whole place is of course a tourist trap, but nobody cares. You go there to do dumb touristy stuff.
You gave me PTSD talking about Poseidon’s rage... the first time I went to Mt Olympus I was waiting for the wave in water about waist deep and when I saw the wave I chickened out and ran the other way. Big mistake. Wave shoved me from behind and drug me across the rough floor, scraping my knee bad and I think I tripped someone. Not a fun experience that time, but it’s a great wave pool and I would definitely do it now
Oh god, you gave me bad memories of the Big Kahuna at Noah's Ark when I was a little kid. The Wave didn't have any texture on the foundation, but the Big Kahuna had grit that was so rough it almost felt like needles. And yeah, if you got plowed over you were going to scrape something. For that reason I hated the Big Kahuna and stuck with The Wave, because part of the fun was crashing into the whitecap and getting bowled over.
If it feels sort of hodge-podgy it's because this park was pieced together from other parks. The indoor water park and some of the surrounding slides used to be Treasure Island and Family Land water parks, and the go kart area started as one of the Big Chief Go Kart properties. In the 1980s a really cool castle stood where part of the park is located. It never did well and is long gone.
I don’t understand how security isn’t present at this park. In this day and age that’s pretty absurd. When I went a few years ago I was very underwhelmed with the overall experience. All of the guests were mean and I got yelled at by a guest when I questioned why him and his son ran out in front of me from a different gate to board the train on Pegasus, effectively cutting my spot in line. The ops did nothing about it, and this guy made me feel so shitty for questioning why he cut in front of me. Get your credits, ride Hades a few times and get the hell out of there. Whoever is running Mt. Olympus really needs to refine their operations and management - absolutely awful.
I live right by this place and have never been there or been interested in the place. I am not surprised by the entrances not being staffed, that would mean the owner would have to pay for employees, and the word is he is a cheapskate and terrible person to work for, so it's also possible that no one would take a job checking bags.
I remember going here when the outdoor water park was Family Land, and the indoor water park/hotel was Treasure Island. Never been been to the go-carts/roller coaster section. Sounds like since they’ve lumped everything together it’s gone downhill. This would also explain the awkward paths and transitions, as this used to be three separate entities. If you want to go to an awesome water park, go to Noah’s Ark!
Right? I've been going here for over 10 years (as day guests not resort guests) and I've always paid $20 to park. Having said that tho, we've only been there in peak summer season.
I go there every year for the past 15 years. Here's what I've experienced. 1. There was a go-kart called Medusa's drop which had a main element of a steep drop to drive down. The flaw: it was immediately followed by a tight turn. So one day it was raining pretty hard and as see the drop ahead there is a ton of go-karts all being rear ended, as one crashed into the turn. Some people got really hurt but I was lucky enough to be near the end of the pileup. I was on the last ride before they decided to remove it. 2. On Pegasus I showed the ride op that my restraint was moving a lot. My restraint didn't lock and came up during the lift although I wasn't too worried because the ride is pretty tame. Rolled into the station with my restraint up and just gave the op a look, she just said 'oh sorry' and put some tape on the seat then kept on going like nothing happened. 3. Got hit on a go-kart with the big spiral track, after nobody showed up after 3 dispatched because I was so high up and out of sight, I had to get out and push it free while trying not to get hit by other riders. 4. Was there when the slingshot ride had two of it's cables snap. 5. Had the chain lift snap two times riding Pegasus with my little brother 6. Many times saw ride ops sitting on the rails of the high up stations.
Having been someone who grew up in Wisconsin MT. Olympus has definitely seen better days. When it change name (I assume owners as well) they put a ton of money into the park. It use to be just be 3 go-kart tracks and 2 actual rides (Hades wasn't there). They had no hotels or places to stay. I would say to get the real experience you have to go during the middle of Summer when the park is packed and everything is open. A little side-note, MT Olympus was always known for having some of the best "night-life" while I was in Highschool/college back in the mid 2010s (I am only 23 so wasn't that long ago). Some of the best times my buddies and I had came after the park was closed Lol That may be why I think so highly of the park. I think the common feeling is that the entire Dell's won't have the newest and greatest stuff, but I think that is part of the charm of the place. You get to make your own fun.
"Pathways are narrow, layout doesn't make sense" So it's an RCT park. EDIT: Wait... they don't let you go through the horse anymore?! EDIT 2: Regarding the kiddie coaster, guess who _DOES_ have that credit. That was the first coaster I ever rode back in the 90s. It's... well, my memory is a little hazy but it's actually not that bad for a kiddie coaster.
I think they stopped letting people drive up the Trojan horse around 5 years ago. I assume they're too cheap to fix the wooden tracks that you drive on to get up there because I do recall it being quite rough last time I got to go up there.
3 deaths there in recent years. And every time someone dies they lower the park to $5 admission. Even before COVID19 that park was a cardboard and scotch tape hodgepodge. The owner is a psycho. Has an enormous pillared mansion on an island, drive gawdy Lamborghini SUVs, losing the battle against his hairline. The Dells is staffed by J1 migrants, and are kept in bunker houses dubbed "prisons", 6 to a room, no kitchen, bathrooms, transportation, etc
*Me:* "'Worst Amusement Park'? How could it be worse than Action Park?" * watches the video * *Me:* "Ah, so that's how - not only are they incompetent in terms of safety, they're also incompetent in terms of what makes an amusement park _fun."_
@Gene Bone small parks with a prominently featured water park, weird layout and a handful of coasters with poor attention to appearance and slow one train ride ops. Why is Mt Olympus exclusively comparable to the two parks you listed? You can compare any parks depending on what you want to examine.
Bay beach holds their title as the best asument park in wisconsin 😊 Jk bay beach is good, but theyre are probably better parks out there i havent heard of.
No it’s a relic. I’ve raced go karts through the wooden horse more than one trip, back in the day. As they grew the theme park, they added rides by demolishing the huge amount of go kart tracks there, as this was originally Big Chief Go Karts 2. (The first location is perhaps a mile to the north on a different road and was absolutely epic! They had a slick track, and the most massive insane wooden elevated kart tracks you can imagine, including one with 4 levels all crossing at the center!!)
As a massive Wooden Coaster fan, this park is on my list. Aside from that it looks a really whack park. But aslong as I'm having fun on some classic CCI's or a massive Gravity Group, I can easily enjoy myself.
Was there today and this review is 100% correct. The place sucks ass and the concrete slab was still there, but with no sign. Noah’s Ark is definitely better and bigger than Mt. Shithole.
Not gonna lie: Taylor’s description is like some of the parks I made in RCT when I was young. Not enough restrooms. Paths to nowhere. Weird smelly things on the ground. And the audacity to have Simulator 1 AND Simulator 2.
I've lived in this town for around 9 years, Mount Olympus has always been the park that looks good but performs really bad. And that concert slap on the ground used to be a sling shot ride, where there would be two long poles and rubber bands to slingshot a cage into the sky. The ride malfunctioned and ended up severely hurting a group of tourists who just wanted to have a good time. The owner didn't claim it as the parks accident but the company they "rented" the ride from.
Ok I've grown up going to the dells my whole life, mt. Olympus in my own opinion is shady there was a point they were buying any property in the area. Mt. Olympus isn't a place I go for rides, if you want to hurt your head and back go here the company is money oriented and not for the consumers. Usually you have to pay for parking and the only water park for the hotels is what is there. Possidens rage danger I've gotten bruises, cuts and rode a person. If you go here don't. The "indoor" theme park used to be great, the wild mouse and the play area have vanished. Please don't hate but I don't recommend this to anyone
It’s literally a water park stop complaining ya there are security things and stuff that makes no sense but who cares if the flow looks good or the lanes are slim and literally they would think you’d hold onto your phone and camera and won’t pull it out and people be stupid with it and maybe they wanna check the wheels before the next riders go so they check them and make sure they are safe cause I went there and the maintenance guy was there checking it out the whole time after each rides like why do you have to complain about all these things that make sense logically
Your review of Mt. Olympus is spot on. Last time we were there was 2016. After spending the day at Noah’s Ark, we went to Mt. Olympus for some night coaster rides. My shorts got caught on a nail and ripped a huge hole in the backside. At basically any other park, I would have been mortified and headed straight for the car. But at Mt. Olympus, I could help but feel like I fit right in, split shorts and all. That’s the best way for me to describe the overall vibe of the park. It’s like your uncle who fixes something by adding duct tape.
My family goes here a lot for spring break, etc. And I never realized people hated the place lmao (PS, if the LED says "open" that means there's no line)
i've lived in WI my entire life and I still love Mt. Olympus. Objectively the park has poor management and the coasters beat you up but its the feel and the nostalgia that I love that not many understand.
You go to the dells for the water parks just go to kalahari after mt Olympus which was a terrible experience we went to kalahari and it was great and had some amazing rides
